Omar Abdullah meets Amit Shah, discusses statehood of Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar: Union Home Minister Amit Shah met on monday Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in New Delhi and discussed, among other things, “restoring statehood”.A government spokesperson said the meeting “discussed the prevailing security and economic situation in Jammu and Kashmir, with emphasis on ensuring continued peace, stability and inclusive development for the people.”“Transaction of commercial rules, rationalization of reservation and other key governance and public welfare issues related to Jammu and Kashmir were discussed,” he said.Abdullah stressed the importance of addressing governance-related concerns and accelerating developmental and welfare initiatives. “He also highlighted the need for continued coordination between the Center and the Government of Jammu and Kashmir on issues of public importance,” he said. He said that the discussion took place in a cordial atmosphere.
