New Delhi: Leader of the Opposition (LOP) in the Lok Sabha. Rahul Gandhi Said on Friday that the Constitution Amendment Bill on delimitation is an attempt BJP Changing the electoral map of India under the guise of women’s reservation in legislatures because the ruling party was afraid of losing power.Calling it an anti-national act, he said it was an attempt to deprive OBCs of their rights and snatch representation from the southern and north-eastern states. Its purpose is only to bypass the caste census, which, the LoP said, will expose the cruel and inexcusable treatment of OBCs, Dalits, minorities and women. Rahul Gandhi said his party is ready to vote in favor of the amendment bill if the government brings in the original 2023 Act for implementation. “It is a historical fact of how Indian society treated Dalits and OBCs and their women. What is being attempted here is to circumvent the caste census. They are trying to avoid giving power and representation to my OBC brothers and sisters and instead snatch power from them,” Gandhi said, referring to the BJP’s approach as “Manuvad over the Constitution”.Accusing BJP of neglecting OBCs and Dalits, he said, ‘You call them ‘Hindus’, but you do not give them any place in the power structure.’Gandhi said, “This is not a women’s bill; it has nothing to do with women’s empowerment. This bill is an attempt to change the electoral map of the country by using the women of India and hiding behind them.”He described the delimitation bill as “dangerous” and “anti-national” and said it was brought due to fear of losing power. Accusing the BJP of using the delimitation in Jammu and Kashmir and Assam in its favor, he said, “Now you are trying to change the political map of India.” Congress will never allow such plans, he said.He said, “There is a fundamental confusion in the mind of BJP. They think they are the people and armed forces of India.” He asked the party to stop hiding behind the people and the forces.
