Residents seeking relocation from landslide-hit, gas leak areas

Dhanbad: Residents affected by increasing cases of underground fire, land subsidence and gas leakage in Dhanbad district have demanded immediate compensation and proper rehabilitation. Protests have been reported from several affected areas, with residents pushing for relocation to safer areas with sustainable livelihood options.Dhanbad MLA Raj Sinha warned of starting an agitation if immediate action was not taken. They demanded that the affected families should be rehabilitated at places other than Belgaria Township, preferably in BCCL areas. He also stressed the need for strict implementation of relief, rescue and rehabilitation policies. Sinha urged the officials to immediately repair the Dhanbad-Ranchi road damaged by landslide in Kenduadih area. Nirsa MLA Arup Chatterjee announced that a delegation led by him will meet the DGMS and DC on Thursday to discuss the issue. He said that this matter will also be raised in the Assembly.
