Actually, the condolence message was not for the demise of the cricketer but for Rehmat Shah’s mother.The confusion arose from Instagram’s automatic translation feature, which mistranslated Janat’s Pashto message. The automatic translation reads:“With great sadness, I heard the news of the demise of the great player Rahmat Shah Afghanistan national cricket team. This great tragedy has deeply saddened me and all cricket fans. As a cricket player, I express my deepest sympathies and condolences to Rahmat Shah and his family. May Allah grant the deceased heaven, illuminate his grave and give his family the fortitude to bear this immense grief. Verily, we belong to Allah, and verily, to Him we will return,” the automated Instagram translation of Karim’s post read.However, the translation was wrong and changed the entire context of the original Pashto message.The correct translation of Janat’s post is as follows:“I heard the news of the death of the respected mother of Rahmat Shah, a talented player of the national cricket team. This great tragedy deeply saddens me and all cricket fans. On my own behalf and as a cricketer, I express my deepest sympathies and condolences to Rahmat Shah and his respected family. May Allah grant heaven to the deceased, fill his grave with light, and give his family the fortitude to bear this great grief. Indeed, we belong to Allah and to Him we will return.” Rahmat Shah last played an ODI for the Afghanistan national cricket team in October last year against the Bangladesh national cricket team, where he retired hurt during the match.The veteran batsman has represented Afghanistan in 11 Tests, 125 ODIs and one T20I, and has scored over 5,000 international runs during his career.

8 killed, more than 20 injured when goods train collides with bus in Bangkok

FSSAI seeks detailed explanation from e-commerce on how it will help customers

In an advisory dated December 3, 2024, FSSAI had said, “Considering the growth of e-commerce in the food sector, compliance by e-commerce food business operators becomes important to ensure the safety, quality and authenticity of food products sold online.“Any product claim made on an e-commerce platform should be completely aligned with the information on the physical label of the product,” it said.

CBSE to bring in 3-language rule in Class 9 from July; no board exams for class 3
New Delhi: CBSE has decided to implement the new three-language rule for class IX from the session 2026-27. From July 1, 2026, under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and National Curriculum Framework 2023, all Class 9 students will have to study three languages, of which “at least two are native Indian languages”.CBSE, in its May 15 circular, said students choosing a foreign language “can do so as a third language only if the other two languages are native Indian languages, or as an additional fourth language”.
The board also announced relief measures for students by removing formal board exams for third language.“No board examination will be conducted for R3 (third language) at the Class 10 level. All assessments for R3 will be entirely school-based and internal,” the circular said.However, the performance “shall be duly reflected in the CBSE certificate.” CBSE said the revised plan follows a “transitional approach” as the academic session has already started in April 2026. The current Class X batch in 2026-27 will continue under the earlier language structure extended from Class IX onwards.Former principal and policy analyst Ashok Pandey said the emphasis on multilingualism was in line with the NE approach, but he cautioned that introducing a third language requirement in Class IX at this stage could create anxiety among students already entering board years. “Board years demand stability and confidence. Such reforms are implemented gradually and group-wise, giving adequate preparation time to schools, teachers and learners,” he said.Pandey said many CBSE schools have so far followed a language structure combining foreign languages like French, German or Spanish along with English, Hindi or the regional language. “Educational changes are successful through thoughtful change management, not just on the strength of good intentions,” he said, adding that schools are still dealing with teacher availability, timetable restructuring, curriculum alignment and assessment models even in classes VI to VIII.
