Daughters of driver, gardener defy odds to crack Class 12 in Uttarakhand

Dehradun: Geetika Pant of Bageshwar and Nancy Dubey of Dehradun emerged as inspiring toppers in the Uttarakhand board results, their achievements built on hardship and resilience.Geetika scored 98% in Class 12 and topped the state combined, while also balancing her studies with taking care of her ailing grandfather until his death. He later dedicated his success to them and credited his taxi-driver father and family support for helping him overcome financial stress. Now his aim is to become an engineer.Nancy Dubey topped her Dehradun school in Class 10 with 83% marks after her family left Uttar Pradesh due to farming losses and lack of land. Her father works as a gardener, and the family could not afford private tuition, so she relied on self-study and free resources. She hopes to pursue science and join the merchant navy.Across Uttarakhand, girls outperformed boys, passing percentages improved and many students from ordinary backgrounds achieved top ranks through discipline and determination.
