Mysuru/Madikeri: The hearing on the bail plea of a cook accused of raping an American woman at a homestay in Kottagu in Kotagu earlier this month and the owner of the facility accused of attempting to hush up the incident was adjourned to Saturday for hearing.Advocate Kokkanda Appanna, who had filed the bail plea for the accused, said the court adjourned the hearing, seeking clarification on whether the survivor would be made a party to the petition.
Meanwhile, a senior police officer told TOI on Friday that the victim has returned to the US after completing all medico-legal formalities in Karnataka. He flew in from Bengaluru on Thursday.The officer further said that the case is being investigated by an inspector from Kutta police station.The police officer said the accused duo – cook Brijesh and homestay owner Vishal Ponnappa – will be taken into custody for questioning after the formalities related to collection of evidence and investigation are completed.(The identity of the victim has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme Court directions on cases related to sexual harassment)
