Special: The mysterious flame of Jwala Ji temple which burns without oil and wick.

India is a land of mysteries, and every region has a story of faith and devotion that is beyond logic and science, and one such mystery has been burning for more than 500 years and still remains as a symbol of divine presence in the divine temple of Devi Jwala Ji in Kangra. Himachal. What makes the burning flame an enigma is that it burns without oil and wick, making it one of the most unique goddess temples across the world. Let’s find out…Temple of Divine FlamesSituated in the lush green lower Himalayas of Kangra district in Himachal Pradesh is the divine abode of Jwala Ji, one of the most powerful Shaktipeeths across the country and holds the spiritual and scientific secret of the continuously burning flame. The temple has nine different flames, each representing a different form of the goddess, such as Mahakali, Durga, Annapurna and Saraswati.

Unlike traditional Hindu temples, where lamps are lit by pouring oil or ghee, the “eternal flames” of Jwala Ji Temple come directly from the cracks in the ancient rocks and are self-manifested flames that have been burning for centuries. It is revered as one of the 51 Shaktipeeths, it is believed that the tongue of Goddess Sati fell here and since then, the physical manifestation of the divine is believed to be in the form of flames. Although science has a different perspective, there are stories of devotion and faith in mythology and mythology that remain imprinted in the hearts of devotees through the ages.

beyond beliefFrom a scientific point of view, it is believed that the burning flames of Jwala G are caused by natural gas emissions, but the exact source is still a subject of research. According to experts, the temple rests on underground reserves of natural gas, mainly methane mixed with other hydrocarbons, which seeps from the porous sandstone of the Himalayan foothills. When these gases come in contact with oxygen at the surface, they ignite in the form of flames. While natural gas rigs are found in various parts of the world, the stability and longevity of Jwala Ji’s flames is distinct and remarkable, as they have been burning without interruption for hundreds of years.

Akbar’s attempt to stop the flamesThe mystery of these flames increased the curiosity of powerful rulers. According to legend and historical records, Akbar suspected the flames to be divine and attempted to extinguish them using a massive stream of water through an iron gutter. But despite all their efforts, the flames continued to flicker through the water without interruption. It is believed that realizing the divine power of Jwala ji, he walked barefoot to the temple and offered a golden umbrella as a sign of repentance. According to local stories and beliefs, the goddess rejected this umbrella and the golden umbrella was replaced by a strange, unknown metal.science and studyAmidst the mystery and local belief, in the mid-20th century, the Indian government made efforts to exploit the potential energy source of the temple. Geologists and engineers from the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) conducted extensive surveys and drills with the aim of locating vast reserves of gas, which they believed to be the secret behind the temple flames. However, despite deep drilling in the area, they were unable to locate a viable source of natural gas, which made it all the more mysterious.

Trichy: In the battle to woo the fishing community, both the DMK and AIADMK are promising increased economic assistance, but the real expectations of the community are infrastructure development, coastal security, disaster rehabilitation, social upliftment and permanent resolution of maritime disputes.MGR played the role of fishermen in films like ‘Padagoti’ and ‘Meenava Nanban’ and left an indelible mark on the community. Result: Voters in the coastal districts of Tamil Nadu strongly supported AIADMK. But, in the mid-1990s, the DMK started making inroads into these constituencies.

.

.

Today, there are about 40 coastal assembly constituencies spread across 14 districts. In 2016, AIADMK and its allies won 22 of these seats and the DMK alliance won 18 seats. However, in 2021, the DMK and its allies moved ahead and captured 34 of them. This year, both parties have promised to increase the assistance amount to fishermen from ₹8,000 to ₹12,000 per family during the 61-day fishing ban. The DMK has promised to increase the lean-season relief from ₹6,000 to ₹9,000.However, fishing villages lack modern fish landing centres, auction halls, net repair sheds and access roads. RMP Rajendira Nattar, fishermen leader from Nagapattinam, said, “Development of infrastructure is necessary to boost fishing, improve livelihoods and economic condition, not financial support.”Many villages also urgently need protective structures such as short groins and sea walls to combat coastal erosion. Cyclone-affected districts like Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam and Cuddalore lack adequate storm shelters.Above all, the Community stresses the need for a permanent solution to the conflict with Sri Lanka.

IPL 2026: 'Incredible' Suryavanshi beats Bumrah in the first round
Vaibhav Suryavanshi of Rajasthan Royals (ANI photo)

Guwahati: Fast bowlers are not the only ones who hunt in pairs. Like left-handed batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi, opening batsmen also do this. Yashasvi Jaiswal are for Rajasthan Royals In this weather. In Rajasthan’s second game against Gujarat Titans, the pair became the fastest Indian opening pair to score 500 IPL runs, surpassing Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir. He then added 80 runs in 30 balls in a brief game against Mumbai Indians on Tuesday.Go beyond limits with our YouTube channel. Subscribe now!The match was built around Suryavanshi, with all 15 players facing off Jasprit Bumrah for the first time ever. Suryavanshi produced a brilliant performance, hitting the talismanic pacer over the fence twice in the first over bowled by Bumrah. The very first ball that the Samastipur boy faced against the fast bowler went past the long-on boundary and the fourth ball was carelessly sent into the midwicket stand. Suryavanshi had won the first round against arguably the best bowler in the world. The batsman was out after playing a stormy innings of 39 runs in 14 balls and tears were visible in his eyes while returning to the pavilion, but by then the damage was done. More experienced partner Jaiswal carried his bat throughout the innings and troubled the MI bowlers with an unbeaten 77 off 32 balls. Talking about their explosive partnerships, the 24-year-old Jaiswal said, “It’s amazing to bat with Vaibhav. We both love to play our shots, so the way we are playing, we just keep giving positive messages to each other.” I have been playing for the last few years, so I just wanted to play as per the situation and give the best start to the team.Giving an insight into the duel between Suryavanshi and Bumrah, Jaiswal further said, “On the first ball he hit a six and I told him to just keep playing his shots. Bindas khel (stay chill and play your normal game), I told him.” Of course, Bumrah Bhai is one of the giants, so if Suryavanshi is scoring runs against him, it is surprising. This made us feel that we can beat other bowlers also. So, it was good for him to go out and play his shots. This took the pressure off me and then I could challenge someone else. It was a good partnership and we enjoyed batting with each other.”Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag termed the pair as “the best”. “The number one opening pair. They have age. Vaibhav is unbelievable. It is not one-sided slogging. Jaiswal has been doing this for 3-4 years. The skills he has and the maturity he has – he is the best,” Parag said. The Mumbai Indians coach was asked about Suryavanshi’s fearless innings while facing players like Bumrah and Trent Boult. Mahela Jayawardene “We all knew his (Suryavanshi’s) talent the way he did last year. Last season we were able to overcome that. It is a challenge to stop him in every match. Bumrah probably missed the length a bit and he was prepared for it. “It will be interesting to see how he develops.”“It is quite fascinating to see a 17 or 16-year-old (15-year-old) boy playing the way he plays,” the MI skipper said. hardik pandya Said. “We talked about him a lot in our preparation before the game. The way he bats – the kind of fearlessness he has, the kind of shots he plays – it’s amazing to watch.”Of course, the more experienced Jaiswal, now the leading run-scorer (170) and Orange Cap holder, had ensured the win for the Royals. As Jayawardene said, “Don’t forget that the way Jaiswal batted was crucial. He took us on early and batted throughout the innings.”

Regularization norms eased in 1,511 illegal Delhi colonies. delhi news

Rules for regularization relaxed in 1,511 illegal colonies of Delhi

New Delhi: The Center on Tuesday relaxed norms for regularizing residential properties and small convenience shops (up to 20 sq m) in 1,511 unauthorized colonies in Delhi on “as is where is” criteria. Residents of these properties can now get building plans prepared by any architect empaneled by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi and apply to the civic body to obtain ownership rights.Announcing major changes in the norms, Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal said properties will be regularized without the need for approved layout plans, a move that will speed up regularization of properties in such colonies, bringing relief to over 10 lakh families living in these settlements. These announcements were made in the presence of CM Rekha Gupta.Earlier, it was mandatory to have an approved layout plan of the area to apply for regularization.

-

Although the Center had envisaged regularizing these colonies in its 2019 rules and subsequently the PM-Unauthorized Colonies in Delhi Housing Rights Scheme (PM-UDAY) on an “as is where is” basis after approval of layout plans, the absence of approved layout plans has been a major hurdle, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs said in a statement.Till the end of March, barely 40,000 conveyance deeds/authorization slips have been issued under PM-UDAY.Gupta said that although there are 1,731 unauthorized colonies in Delhi, those in O zone (Yamuna flood plain), forest/ridge areas and otherwise outside the scope of the scheme have not been included. Besides this, 69 affluent unauthorized colonies like Sainik Farm, Mahendru Enclave, Anant Ram Dairy and Bhavani Kunj have also been excluded. As per the new norms, the Revenue Department of the Delhi government, and not the DDA, will now issue the conveyance deed for ownership rights. The Union Minister said that MCD will conduct drone survey every two months to detect any new small construction. “To ensure that no further unauthorized construction or expansion takes place in these colonies, we have strengthened the enforcement wing of the MCD and Delhi Development Authority,” he said. The civic body will issue ‘certificates of regularization’ and also conduct a survey of vacant plots for creation of civic infrastructure. The CM said that under the revised policy, applications for ownership of properties can be filed online through the PM-UDAY portal from April 24. He said that the process of regularization will be expedited with simplified approval process and stipulated time-frame for release of work within 45 days. The last date for consideration for regularization will be 1 June 2014. The minister said the revised policy will cover old buildings in unauthorized colonies while new construction will be required to follow the norms set by the MCD and seek its permission. The updated policy notified on Tuesday states that shops with an area of up to 20 square meters will be regularized if they have access to 6 meters of right of way (RoW). For shops up to 10 square metres, the required RoW may be less than 6m. Responding to a question, D Thara, additional secretary in the housing ministry, said floor-wise regularization would also be allowed. An applicant can log in to the MCD Swagam portal (https://mcdonline.nic.in/swagam) and choose a colony name, ward and zone, which are auto-populated, the ministry said in an official statement. They will have the option to choose whether the PM-Uday case identity is present or not. Those who do not have such ID will have to log in to the PM-UDAY portal. It said that if the conveyance deed or authorization slip has been issued, an application form will be filled, and if not, the application for the status will be redirected to the PM-UDAY portal. After surveying the building structure, processing of applications and issuance of conveyance deed or authorization slip will be done by the Revenue Department in collaboration with DDA. Applications will be accepted on the SWAGAM portal from April 24 for cases where conveyance deed or authorization slip has been issued. In cases of reconstruction or redevelopment, land equal to 50% of the reduction in ROW should be surrendered to achieve minimum access width (6 m internal roads, 9 m access roads). “Floor Area Ratio (FAR) will be calculated on the original plot area but will be used within the reduced plot after surrender. If the existing FAR exceeds the permissible limit, penal charges (three times the additional FAR charges) will be applicable,” the policy says.Delhi CM It described the revised rules as a step that brings “hope, dignity and long-awaited security” to millions of families. The CM office said a clear timeline has been set for the process, including seven days for the GIS survey report, 15 days for removing the deficiencies and a mandatory 45-day deadline for issuing the conveyance deed. It added that the PM-UDAY register will be maintained and regularization certificates will be issued by the MCD.The CM said regularization will help residents take loans on their properties, thereby opening up opportunities for redevelopment and economic empowerment.

West Bengal Elections: Mamata Banerjee came out to file nomination, said- will go to Supreme Court again regarding SIR

Kolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Led a 400-metre march from his home to the Alipore Survey Building along with around 4,000 people on Wednesday Trinamool Congress supporters, and filed his nomination for the Bhawanipur assembly seat along with four proposers from four different communities, setting the stage for the final phase of Trinamool’s election campaign.Moments after filing her nomination, Banerjee said her party would once again approach the Supreme Court and demand that voters who have appealed before the tribunal against the deletion of their names during the adjudication be allowed to cast their votes in this election. He said, “The Supreme Court had recognized all the voters as genuine voters under the decision and said that their cases will be resolved in the tribunal. What is the point of freezing their cases? We will go to the court again and seek justice.” “I am very upset that so many names have been removed. Out of the 1.2 crore people removed, 32 lakh names were included only because I went to the Supreme Court. But the remaining 58 lakh cases were never opened.” Some deletions may be genuine due to death or duplicate entries. But the 27 lakh voters whose cases are pending before the tribunal are genuine and should be allowed to vote. If these people are not able to vote now then what is the point of adding names later?” he asked. Those who signed his nomination papers included Mayor Firhad Hakim’s wife Ismat, representing Muslims, Ward 71 Block President Bablu Singh, representing Hindus, filmmaker Nispal Singh, representing Sikhs, and Bhawanipur Education Society vice-president Miraj Shah, representing Jains.Banerjee declared that she had Rs 75,700 in cash, 9.8 grams of gold jewelery and assets totaling Rs 15.4 lakh. His annual income is Rs 23.2 lakh, he does not own any vehicle or property and his only source of income is royalties earned from books and bank interest. There is no criminal case pending against him.On Tuesday morning, as Mamata Banerjee stepped out of her Harish Chatterjee Street residence at 10.35 am, wearing her trademark white saree and white slippers, she was immediately surrounded by a sea of supporters who had been waiting for hours to catch a glimpse of her.Shrabani Roy, a resident of Kalighat, who was present with a group of 10 women in green and white sarees, blew conch shells to welcome the CM. He said, “This has been a ritual for many years now. When she files her nomination we always come dressed in coordinated colors to accompany her. We wished her luck and she blessed us. Such simple gestures motivate us to work hard to ensure the party’s victory.”On the way, Banerjee stopped for a while at the Baglamukhi temple near the Kalighat bridge and bowed her head in prayer, before resuming her march. The route soon turned into a festive procession, with supporters showering flowers and raising slogans of ‘Mamata Banerjee Zindabad’ and ‘Joy Bangla’. The crowd also included party worker Tarak Pat-Ra, whose brother-in-law’s name has been struck off the voter list. “Didi has assured us that she is trying to restore the names,” he said, joining the sloganeering. As senior party functionaries – Firhad Hakim, his daughter Priyadarshini, Rashbehari MLA Debashish Kumar and eight councilors from Bhawanipur constituency – walked along, Banerjee waved to supporters and occasionally stopped to shake hands with familiar faces. Near the Alipore Jail Museum, she stopped again to bow before the portrait of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose before proceeding with folded hands towards the Survey Building.Addressing supporters after exiting, the CM made an emotional remark: “I live here 365 days. Everything – my birth and my work – has been here. Whatever I am, I am because of this place. To the people of Bhawanipur, I offer my respects – Pranam, Sat Shri Akal, Jai Jinendra, Salaam. Bless us so that not only I, but all our candidates on 294 seats can continue to serve you.”

Appointment of priests by government boards cannot be a secular function: Centre. india news

Appointment of priests by government boards cannot be a secular function: Center

New Delhi: The Center on Wednesday made a veiled attack on the Tamil Nadu law taking away the control of appointment of ‘archakas (priests)’ in temples, saying the Supreme Court had in the past wrongly classified the appointment of ‘archakas’ as a “secular act” while it was purely a religious decision.Solicitor General Tushar Mehta made a strong plea for a review of the jurisprudence developed by the SC over the last few decades without considering the complexity of issues relating to religion, faith and belief and being unduly influenced by Western jurisprudence, where individual liberty trumped social conscience and morality. His pitch, while in sync with the Modi government’s stance on the scope of judiciary intervention on faith-related issues, also takes on an added dimension because of the timing – it came ahead of the assembly elections in TN. Mehta said that by upholding the TN law, which took away the control of appointment of ‘archakas’ and vested it in government boards, the Supreme Court allowed the state to interfere in the religious affairs of a sect or sect maintaining its religious traditions in its temples.

Court should not be the harbinger of reforms that weaken core faith and belief: Supreme Court

He said, “If such a law gets the approval of the Supreme Court, then Shankaracharya can also be removed.”“This does not mean that ‘archaks’ will be above the law and will not be accountable for their misconduct,” a nine-judge bench led by Chief Justice Surya Kant said.Mehta, replying, said that as long as the appointment of ‘archakas’ by a community temple is not in violation of constitutional norms prohibiting caste-based discrimination, the community should have the right to appoint individuals as ‘archakas’ if they meet the eligibility criteria of ‘Aagam’ and knowledge in rituals.“The true meaning of secularism is non-interference of the state in the religious matters of different sects. “Removal or appointment should follow the competency and experience developed over centuries,” he said.Objecting to the use of secularism and constitutional morality inconsistent with issues related to religion, faith and belief by the courts to intervene in the name of reforms, Mehta said that social and religious reforms should be left to the legislature. The bench prima facie agreed that the Supreme Court should not be a harbinger of social reforms or reforms in religion which weaken the basic faith and belief of the devotees. The bench said, “Religion cannot be harmed in the name of reforms.”“What expertise do judges, who are scholars of law, have in religious matters to determine what constitutes a sect? The shrines of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti and Nizamuddin Auliya and Shirdi Saibaba are visited by devotees of all sects, sects and religions. Can the court determine which temple belongs to which religion?” Mehta applied pressure. The SG asked if Aurobindo’s followers consider themselves a separate religious group, can the Supreme Court say that they are not? When Justices BV Nagarathna and Joymalya Bagchi questioned his view, Mehta said that if followers see Aurobindo as God, can any other person dispute this, noting that under the Constitution they have the right to freedom of conscience. When Justice Bagchi said that Aurobindo’s idol is not worshipped, Mehta said that Arya Samaj and Brahmo Samaj also do not worship idols, yet they are considered separate religious sects. Justice Bagchi interestingly noted that, while Auroville has not been considered a religious sect by the Supreme Court, it had accepted the Ananda Margis as a religious sect.

Is Cooper Flag playing tonight against the Phoenix Suns? Latest update on Dallas Mavericks star's injury report (April 8, 2026)
Dallas Mavericks forward Cooper Flagg (32) (Image via AP Photo/LM Otero)

dallas mavericks are closely monitoring cooper flag ahead of their April 8 game against the Phoenix Suns, but all signs point to the rookie star being available. Flagg is currently listed as probable due to a left wrist sprain, meaning Dallas expects him to play unless something changes during the final pregame checkup.Even though he is on the injury report, the condition does not appear to be serious enough to keep him out of the field. Reports from recent practices and his ability to continue playing with this issue suggest the Mavericks are being cautious at the end of the season rather than dealing with any major setbacks. For now, fantasy managers and Dallas fans should prepare as if Flagg will handle his normal workload.

Cooper Flagg’s current injury status for Mavericks vs. Suns (April 8, 2026)

Cooper Flagg is officially listed as probable for tonight’s game at Phoenix due to a left wrist sprain. He has not been downgraded to questionable or out, which is an important sign regarding his availability. The wrist problem first became noticeable during Dallas’ March 25 loss to the Denver Nuggets. However, Flagg has not missed any games because of it. This strongly suggests that the Mavericks are managing the discomfort with caution rather than dealing with a serious injury that requires rest.Because he has continued to practice and remain active, the potential tag seems more like a caution on official paperwork than a warning that he may have to sit out.

Dallas Mavericks Roster and Injury Outlook vs. Phoenix Suns (April 8, 2026)

Cooper Flagg continues to be one of the focal players on Dallas’ active roster. Duke’s No. 1 overall pick is listed as a 6’9”, 205-pound forward and is making $14.3 million this season. He shares the roster with Klay Thompson, PJ Washington, Daniel Gafford, Marvin Bagley III, Najee Marshall, Caleb Martin, Dwight Powell, Max Christie, Brandon Williams, and others. Many of the Mavericks entering this game are also battling injuries.

If Flagg is as active as expected, Dallas will once again rely heavily on him on both ends of the floor. His average in his last 10 matches has been around: • 26 to 27 points • About 7 rebounds • About 5 assists • Over 1.5 steals/blocks combinedHe has become the offensive engine for Dallas, especially with Kyrie Irving unavailable. There is also value added to the story tonight. Flagg suffered a left foot sprain during the February 10 game at Phoenix, although he still finished that game with 27 points and 5 rebounds. Tonight he gets another chance to perform in the same building.

Last update on Cooper Flag tonight

Cooper Flagg is expected to play against the Phoenix Suns on April 8, 2026.His probable designation for a left wrist sprain suggests Dallas is just being cautious. Since he has continued to play through the issue and has not been downgraded on the injury report, Flagg should be considered an active starter unless there is a surprise update shortly before tip-off.
