That’s why ovarian cancer is often called the silent disease. By the time women seek help, the disease has already advanced.“

Ovarian cancer does not declare itself

It doesn’t come with any rash or dramatic symptoms that force you to pay attention. Instead, it whispers. It’s hidden behind complaints that seem like a thousand other things – digestive problems, hormonal changes, stress. The challenge with ovarian cancer, according to studies on early detection, is exactly this ambiguity. Women mistake these symptoms for PMS, irritable bowel syndrome or lactose intolerance. Sometimes even doctors do this.“The difference is time,” explains Dr. Reddy. “Inflammation related to ovarian cancer does not resolve. It is relentless. Women tell me that their clothes feel tight, they don’t look pregnant, yet they look pregnant and no matter what they try, it doesn’t help. They went to the grocery store wondering if they were lactose intolerant. He has reduced carbs. He has completely changed his diet. Here’s what medical professionals want women to understand: Ovarian cancer rarely shows up as a single symptom. It shows up as a collection of things, sometimes subtle, sometimes more obvious. With persistent swelling, women may experience pain in the pelvic area or lower abdomen. They may feel full after eating only a small amount of food. Their appetite may disappear almost without warning. They may find themselves constantly running to the bathroom, or they may feel tired for no apparent reason.Other signs include unexplained weight loss or weight gain, and a general feeling that something is not right – persistent fatigue that no amount of sleep can fix. The challenge is that each of these symptoms can be explained differently. Tiredness? You are working very hard. Loss of appetite? You are stressed. Frequent urination? You may be drinking too much coffee. But when they occur together, when they cluster around each other and persist for two weeks or more, they become red flags worth investigating.

Not all women are at the same risk. If you are over fifty, your risk increases. If you have a family history of ovarian cancer or breast cancer, you are at higher risk. If you have endometriosis, if you have certain gene mutations like BRCA1 or BRCA2, if you’re living with obesity – all of these factors change the odds.“Women with a family history need to be especially vigilant,” Dr. Reddy emphasizes. “And I always recommend genetic counseling for people with a strong family history. We can identify risk earlier and put people on appropriate screening protocols.”But here’s the harsh truth: You don’t have to be in a high-risk category for ovarian cancer. It can happen to anyone. Which means everyone has to listen to their body.

There is no guaranteed way to prevent ovarian cancer. But there are ways to catch it earlier, and it can make a big difference. Regular gynecological exams matter more than many women realize. Maintaining a healthy weight, eating a diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables, staying physically active — these aren’t revolutionary suggestions, but they do reduce the risk. Avoiding smoking and limiting alcohol also helps. And paying attention to your family history, really knowing what health problems ran in your family, not just vaguely knowing there was something there, gives you important context.“Early diagnosis changes everything,” says Dr. Reddy. “We now have new surgical techniques like complex cytoreductive surgery and therapies like HIPEC and PIPAC that significantly improve survival rates. We have better chemotherapy and targeted therapies. “But they work best when we catch the disease early.”Studies consistently show that early detection of ovarian cancer dramatically improves survival rates. The difference between catching it in stage one and stage three is profound. The difference between catching it and not catching it at all is everything.On World Ovarian Cancer Day, the message is clear: don’t neglect your body. Delhi Police arrests 482 suspects in 48-hour massive crackdown targeting Indian and Pakistani crime syndicates

New Delhi: Making a major dent in the terror-gangster nexus operating in the city and neighboring states, Delhi Police has concluded a 48-hour operation with the arrest of 482 suspects linked to criminal outfits in India and Pakistan.Delhi Special Commissioner (Law and Order) Ravindra Singh Yadav said the operation, which ran from May 5-7, involved over 1,000 teams deployed at 1,014 locations in Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, effectively shutting down the lifelines of major criminal syndicates.Apart from the arrests, the Special Cell and the districts police seized a large cache of illegal firearms and equipment: 141 pistols, 212 cartridges, 79 knives and 24 vehicles. Financial and physical lifelines were further broken with the recovery of Rs 19 lakh in cash, 19 kg of narcotic drugs, 1,234 liquor bottles and 31 mobile phones, which are likely to contain digital blueprints for future operations.According to Additional CP (Special Cell) Pramod Kushwaha, the operation was preceded by in-depth identification of the gang members and their associated facilitators – from shooters and finance providers to SIM card and shelter providers – ensuring that the raids strike at the heart of these criminal ecosystems.Statistical analysis shows that Zone-II of the police saw the highest activity with 537 raids, while the Special Cell conducted 310 targeted strikes against the most dangerous elements of these syndicates.Perhaps the most shocking breakthrough involves the Shehzad Bhatti network, an alleged ISI-sponsored proxy suspected of coordinating anti-national activities. This module is openly recruiting foot soldiers through social media to install IP-based CCTV cameras, monitor sensitive installations and coordinate the delivery of weapons and narcotics.One of the nine network associates arrested is a resident of Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir. Most seriously, investigators revealed that members of this module were tasked to execute a high-risk conspiracy to carry out random firing on security personnel, especially in North India and Delhi-NCR.

The group had already conducted reconnaissance in several sensitive areas of Delhi, indicating that it could prevent a major terror attack as the operation reached its final stages.The operation also hit traditional organized crime fronts and arrested active members of several major gangs. New Delhi: The appointment of Gyanesh Kumar (now CEC) and SS Sandhu as election commissioners in 2023 — who were shortlisted, cleared and appointed within a day — were the focus of the hearing on Thursday. Kumar and Sandhu’s appointments were the first by a panel of the PM, a Union Cabinet minister and the LOP under the new law – the CEC and other Election Commissioners (Appointment, Conditions of Service and Term of Office) Act, 2023 – the legality of which is being examined by the SC. Asserting that the independence of the EC is as important as the independence of the judiciary, the petitioners argued before a bench of Justices Dipankar Datta and Satish Chandra Sharma that the executive and the government should not play a major role in the posting of poll panels, as it would result in the appointment of “yes men”, which would seriously affect the impartiality of the EC, which is the bedrock of the republic and democracy. Senior advocate Vijay Hansaria, appearing for petitioner Jaya Thakur, told the bench that Kumar and Sandhu were appointed without effective consultation. He said the names were not shortlisted till March 13, 2023 and the LoP was given a list of 200 names which were being considered, but the selection committee met and shortlisted six names the very next day. “This is what happens when you give complete power to one person. How can the Leader of the Opposition be expected to look into so many names in a day?” He said.Responding to their plea, the bench said, “We can only say that we want such speed to be shown in the appointment of judges. Especially in the appointment of HC judges.” However, it refused to give credibility to Hansaria’s allegation that he was appointed just a day before the SC hearing on March 15 to sabotage the court proceedings, as no evidence was placed to prove the allegation. Senior advocates Sanjay Parikh, Shadan Farasat and Prashant Bhushan, appearing for the other petitioners, argued that the law was passed by Parliament without proper discussion and when it was passed, 141 opposition MPs were under suspension. He said that this law has been brought to cancel the decision of the Supreme Court by which independence was provided in the appointment process of CEC and Election Commissioners. The 2023 Supreme Court judgment had said that appointments were to be made by a panel comprising the PM, the Leader of the Opposition (LOP) and the CJI, but under the new law, the CJI was replaced by a Union cabinet minister in the committee. Bhushan submitted that every political party in office tried to use the Commission for political gains and that is why a political party while in opposition shouted for freeing the Election Commission from government interference but when it came to office it refrained from taking decisions. He said that the law for the appointment was made only after the intervention of the Supreme Court in 2023. Without naming former Law Minister Arun Jaitley, who once coined the term “tyranny of the unelected” for judiciary activism and interference in policy matters, Justice Dutta said, “I remember an MP who said that the tyranny of the unelected. This should be considered equivalent to tyranny of the elected people.” The bench said, “Whoever comes to office is doing the same thing. It is unfortunate for the country. I watched a BBC video on Dr. Ambedkar. Within three years of the Constitution being made, he had said that democracy is not working in this country.”

Even the friendships there are trauma bonds,” she said.“Trust me, once you heal, you realize that those people aren’t really your friends anymore because you’ve recovered from that trauma. Suddenly, you don’t find certain behaviors or conversations interesting anymore,” she adds.Despite the difficult experience, Tanisha said that she believes it shaped her personality and made her stronger. “Things happen in your life that shape who you become. Maybe that phase was meant for me to become this person. Maybe it could have happened differently, maybe it wouldn’t have hurt my family so much, but it happened. And you become stronger, tougher and more alert after that,” she explained.
