Dubai has unveiled its biggest transport project to date, with Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum announcing the Dh34 billion ($9 billion) metro Gold Line on April 22, 2026. This ambitious project is designed to reshape the movement of millions of people across the city, reinforcing Dubai’s long-term vision of becoming one of the world’s most connected urban centres. With the addition of the Gold Line, the metro network is going to grow by about 25 per cent, taking the total track length to more than 160 kilometers and increasing the number of stations from 67 to 85.Officials also expect strong long-term economic returns, with estimates suggesting the project could generate returns of up to 430 percent over the next two decades, driven by increased demand for residential and commercial development around metro-connected areas.
