जिलाधिकारी चंद्र प्रकाश सिंह ने बताया कि हादसे में अब तक 10 लोगों की मौत की पुष्टि हुई है. स्थानीय गोताखोरों की मदद से 16 से 17 लोगों को सुरक्षित बचा लिया गया. कई लोग अभी भी लापता हैं, जिनकी तलाश जारी है. जैसे-जैसे समय बीत रहा है, मरने वालों की संख्या बढ़ने की आशंका है.
मौके पर एनडीआरएफ और प्रशासन की टीमें तैनात
राहत और बचाव कार्य के लिए गाजियाबाद से एनडीआरएफ की टीम बुलाई गई है. इसके अलावा मथुरा छावनी से भी मदद ली जा रही है। जिला प्रशासन, पुलिस और स्थानीय गोताखोर लगातार सर्च ऑपरेशन चला रहे हैं. डीएम और एसएसपी समेत कई वरिष्ठ अधिकारी मौके पर मौजूद हैं और हालात पर नजर बनाए हुए हैं.

New Delhi: That evening snack, that quick packet meal, that sugary drink you don’t think twice about – doctors say they’re silently creating your next health crisis.The American Heart Association (AHA) has issued a dire warning that everyday eating habits, especially the increasing reliance on ultra-processed foods, are promoting heart disease, diabetes and early death.The warning, published as a 2026 scientific statement, comes at a time when the disease burden is already rising in India. Cardiovascular diseases cause approximately 28% of all deaths, while more than 100 million people are living with diabetes, and millions more are at risk. “One in five deaths in India is directly attributable to poor diet,” said Dr Ambuj Roy, professor of cardiology at AIIMS, Delhi.In its latest guidance, the AHA shifts the conversation away from diet trends and quick fixes to what people actually eat every day. It requires a diet composed of vegetables, fruits and whole grains, as well as healthy protein sources such as lentils, beans, nuts and fish. It also recommends using plant-based oils in place of butter and animal fats and choosing minimally processed foods.Dr. Roy said that such principles can be adopted at the local level. He pointed to the Mediterranean diet as a proven model for reducing heart risk, and said a similar anti-inflammatory Indian diet could be created using locally available ingredients such as mustard oil, peanut oil, seasonal fruits, vegetables, millets, legumes, nuts and traditional spices. “Reducing ready-to-eat packaged foods, biscuits and snacks can reduce the risk of heart disease by 30%,” he said.Additionally, the AHA calls for limiting ultra-processed foods, added sugars, added salt and saturated fats. Packaged snacks, sugary drinks, refined flour items and processed meats are major contributors to obesity, diabetes and heart disease.Reiterating this, Dr Ravinder Goswami, Department of Endocrinology, AIIMS, said that conditions like diabetes, hypertension and coronary artery disease often overlap and require similar lifestyle changes. He emphasized portion control – “eat a little less than your hunger” – as well as being mindful about what you eat and avoiding distractions like screens during meals.He also cautioned against refined carbohydrates like flour-based foods and advised to reduce the consumption of fried foods and frequently heated oils. Choosing whole fruits instead of juice and roasted snacks instead of fried snacks can make a significant difference, he said.Urban lifestyles are increasing the risk, with food delivery and quick-trade making high-calorie, high-salt foods readily available. The AHA also recommends limiting alcohol and says people should not start drinking alcohol for purported heart benefits.“Simple habits like daily walking, exposure to sunlight and keeping an eye on your weight are as important as what you eat,” Dr. Goswami said. He said that weight gain in itself is a warning sign.Doctors say the risk increases over time because of daily habits, not occasional indulgences, and with lifestyle diseases on the rise among young Indians, what you eat every day shapes your long-term health.
Indie rock band Parikrama will open for rock giants Scorpions on April 24 in Delhi and on April 30 in Mumbai. Citing him as one of his biggest influences, Subir Malik, founder and manager of Parikrama, says, “He is one of our biggest influences. Ask anyone who grew up in the 70s, 80s and 90s – most of them listened to his songs. So when we get to open for legends like Iron Maiden, Deep Purple, or Scorpions, it feels like a full circle for us. Had it not been for these stories, Parikrama would not have existed. We grew up listening to the Scorpions and tried to play all their songs, even when we didn’t know how to play the guitar. From listening to those old cassettes to opening them now, it’s really a great honour,” he said. He further added that the band is working on a special set for the show. “We will be releasing some of our new original songs that have not been recorded yet,” says Subir.

उत्तराखंड एसटीएफ ने अवैध हथियारों की तस्करी के एक बड़े नेटवर्क का भंडाफोड़ किया है. सोमवार को पुलभट्टा थाना क्षेत्र से एक तस्कर को गिरफ्तार कर उसके पास से छह पिस्तौल और एक राइफल समेत सात अवैध हथियार बरामद किये गये. यह कार्रवाई मुख्यमंत्री के निर्देश पर प्रदेश में चलाये जा रहे ऑपरेशन प्रहार के तहत की गयी है.
एसएसपी एसटीएफ अजय सिंह ने बताया कि सोमवार को एसटीएफ को यूपी-उत्तराखंड बॉर्डर पर अवैध हथियारों की तस्करी की सूचना मिली थी. इस पर टीम ने पुलभट्टा थाना पुलिस की मदद से घेराबंदी कर वैगनआर कार में अवैध हथियार ला रहे महेश गंगवार को पकड़ लिया।
उन्होंने बताया कि गंगवार बरेली, (यूपी) का रहने वाला है और वर्तमान में किच्छा उधम सिंह नगर में रहता है। इस गिरफ्तारी से यूपी-उत्तराखंड में चल रहे एक बड़े अवैध हथियार नेटवर्क को तोड़ने में सफलता मिली है. उत्तराखंड में आए दिन हो रही फायरिंग की घटनाओं को देखते हुए एसटीएफ का यह अहम कदम है. गिरफ्तार तस्कर से नेटवर्क के संबंध में जानकारी जुटाई जा रही है.
बरामद हथियार एवं अब तक की गई कार्यवाही
गिरफ्तार महेश गंगवार के पास से 315 बोर की छह पिस्तौल, 12 बोर की एक राइफल और .32 बोर के दो खाली कारतूस बरामद हुए हैं. तस्करी में इस्तेमाल की जा रही वैगनआर कार भी जब्त कर ली गई है. इस साल अब तक एसटीएफ ने 21 अवैध हथियार और 35 कारतूस बरामद किए हैं. साथ ही आठ हथियार तस्करों को गिरफ्तार कर जेल भेजा गया है.
ऑपरेशन प्रहार के तहत की गई कार्रवाई
मुख्यमंत्री के निर्देश पर पुलिस महानिदेशक दीपम सेठ ने राज्य में ऑपरेशन प्रहार का आदेश दिया था. इसके तहत सक्रिय गिरोहों और अवैध हथियारों के खिलाफ कार्रवाई करने का निर्देश एसटीएफ को दिया गया था. एसएसपी एसटीएफ अजय सिंह ने एक टीम गठित कर गिरफ्तारी और हिरासत के लिए उचित दिशा-निर्देश दिए थे. यह अभियान राज्य में अवैध हथियारों के बढ़ते इस्तेमाल पर रोक लगाने के उद्देश्य से चलाया जा रहा है.

By producing oxygen directly from regolith, the technology could reduce reliance on expensive Earth-based supplies. Although still in its early stages, this success highlights how private space companies are beginning to translate theoretical science into practical systems for future lunar missions.
The process used by Blue Origin is based on a technique called molten regolith electrolysis, which has also been studied by organizations such as NASA and the European Space Agency. In this method, moon-like soil is heated to extremely high temperatures until it melts and turns into liquid form. Once melted, an electric current is passed through it, which breaks the chemical bonds that hold the oxygen within the minerals.As a result, oxygen is released as a gas and can be captured for use. Although the concept has been researched for years, attention is now shifting toward building systems that can operate reliably in real lunar conditions rather than just in laboratories.
The lunar soil, known as regolith, may appear lifeless, but it contains surprisingly high amounts of oxygen. About 40 to 45 percent of its weight comes from oxygen present within minerals such as silica, iron oxide and aluminum oxide. These compounds have been formed by volcanic activity and repeated meteorite impacts over billions of years.However, unlike Earth, this oxygen is not freely available in the atmosphere. It remains locked inside solids, which means it must be extracted using energy-intensive processes. Despite this challenge, the abundance of oxygen in lunar soil makes it a highly valuable resource for future exploration.
Lunar Soil Electrolysis Research Setup
Founded by Jeff Bezos, Blue Origin is increasingly focused on building infrastructure that can support long-term human activity on the Moon. The company is developing technologies aimed at using local resources rather than relying solely on supplies transported from Earth.This includes not only systems designed to produce oxygen, but also metals from lunar material and potentially solar panels.
