The incorporation of synthetic DNA into electronics is changing the way neuromorphic computing works and is a new way to address the rising energy costs associated with current artificial intelligence. Integrating molecularly engineered DNA sequences with quasi-2D perovskite semiconductor materials allows researchers to create ‘memristors’ or memory resistors based on the brain’s ability to form new memories through synaptic plasticity. DNA provides a very high density of data, at 215 petabytes of information stored per gram; Therefore devices built using DNA hybridization and synthesized using ultra-low voltages less than 0.1 volts have both processing capability and memory on a single device. Using both processing and memory on a single device results in a substantial (i.e., 100-fold) reduction in energy usage, creating a robust, scalable model for the next generation of energy-efficient, high-capacity supercomputers.

DNA is powering the next generation of supercomputers

Standard computing is approaching a ‘thermodynamic limit’, and synthetic DNA in the form of a programmable nanomaterial would be the answer. According to a journal published in the Wiley Online Library, when silver ions are mixed with synthetic DNA and in combination with perovskite, the resulting synthetic DNA (i.e. DNA) forms a stable conductive pathway for high-density storage. These devices are memristors, which can retain memory (data) in the same way as neurons do in biological systems without requiring constant power.

Why is DNA the key to sustainable computing?

With the continued expansion of artificial intelligence, the energy required to transfer data on standard chips will become much greater. Studies funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) are demonstrating that biological systems have an advantage over contemporary chip architectures when it comes to parallel processing. Computing with DNA-enhanced processing (i.e. DNA-based computers) will enable multiple input processing with up to 90 percent less energy overhead than conventional non-volatile memory.

The biggest advantage of DNA is its spatial efficiency. As cited in NIH studies, DNA has the ability to store data at a density several million times greater than silicon. This will have a tremendous impact on future supercomputers as the physical footprint of data centers is reduced, while also increasing the reliability of long (cold) data storage through the chemical stability of synthetic DNA strands.

New Delhi: A new international study involving researchers from the Physical Research Laboratory (PRL), IISER and the Institute of Remote Sensing has revealed that water ice deposits in permanently shadowed regions of the Moon are much more stable than previously thought.“The Moon’s permanently shadowed regions (PSR) are capable of preserving water-ice and other frozen volatiles for billions of years if temperatures remain low enough. Water ice is preserved on the PSR of the Moon’s south pole, which has seen many of the impacts. (However,) 74% are unaffected by PSR impacts,” said the study, titled “Impacts in the Moon’s Permanently Shadowed Regions,” which was published in “Nature” in April. 2.The findings come at a time when countries are racing to launch manned missions like the ongoing Artemis II mission to the Moon with the aim of setting up a lunar base in the future and India’s crewed lunar landing mission by 2040.Using high-resolution orbital imagery and impact modeling, the research team mapped millions of small craters ranging from one to 20 meters in size in the PSR between 85° and 90° south latitude. The study also took the help of NASA cameras and data generated by ISRO Chandrayaan-2 orbiter. “In this study, 5 m–7 km diameter craters were mapped within a subset of the PSR over an area over 1 km2 located between 85°–90°S latitude using ShadowCam, 1–20 m craters were mapped within the connecting ridge region near the lunar south pole using both ShadowCam (NASA) and the Chandrayaan-2 Orbiter High-Resolution Camera (India) and a Approximate calculations were made,” the study said.The study further said, “Despite millions of impacts in the PSR and the release of volatiles from the crater cavity, the Moon’s south pole region still has the potential to preserve shallow ice, making it a promising target for India’s future Chandrayaan-5/LUPEX mission.”The study suggests that small depressions in these dark areas may have disturbed the ice buried beneath the surface. It also states that in areas without craters, natural surface churning (called “horticulture”) may mix the ice vertically, bringing it closer to the top. This makes such locations good targets for future missions to explore and exploit lunar ice.Chandrayaan mission was the first mission to confirm the presence of water on the Moon. While Chandrayaan-1 (2008) detected lunar water for the first time, Chandrayaan-2 confirmed its stability in the polar regions and Chandrayaan-3 found further evidence of hidden, buried ice, an important step for future exploration. Chandrayaan-5, also known as the Lunar Polar Exploration (LUPEX) mission, is a joint project between ISRO and Japan’s JAXA, scheduled to be launched around 2027-28. It aims to land at the South Pole to detect and analyze water ice by employing a heavy Japanese rover and an Indian lander.

घटना काकोरी इलाके के मदारपुर-पुरैना रोड पर हुई, जहां सुबह लोगों ने सड़क किनारे एक महिला का शव पड़ा देखा. महिला रात्रि परिधान में थी और उसका शरीर खून से सना हुआ था। यह दृश्य देखकर लोगों में डर और दहशत फैल गई।

शव की हालत देखकर हत्या का शक गहरा रहा है।
महिला के हाथ बंधे हुए थे और सिर पर गहरी चोट के निशान मिले। इसके अलावा शरीर पर कई नीले दाग भी दिखे, जिससे आशंका जताई जा रही है कि महिला की पिटाई की गई और फिर उसकी हत्या कर दी गई.

पहचान नहीं हो सकी, आसपास के पुलिस स्टेशनों से संपर्क किया
ग्रामीणों ने महिला को पहचानने से इनकार कर दिया है. पुलिस ने बताया कि महिला की उम्र 30 से 32 साल के बीच है. उसकी पहचान के लिए उन्नाव समेत आसपास के पुलिस स्टेशनों से संपर्क कर जानकारी साझा की गई है।

हत्या या अन्य अपराध, पोस्टमार्टम रिपोर्ट का इंतजार है
पुलिस इस मामले की हर पहलू से जांच कर रही है. यह भी आशंका जताई जा रही है कि कहीं महिला की दुष्कर्म के बाद हत्या तो नहीं की गई। हालांकि, इसकी पुष्टि पोस्टमार्टम रिपोर्ट आने के बाद ही हो सकेगी.

घटना की जानकारी मिलने के बाद डीसीपी वेस्ट कमलेश दीक्षित मौके पर पहुंचे और जांच का जायजा लिया. पुलिस आसपास लगे सीसीटीवी कैमरों की फुटेज खंगाल रही है और संदिग्धों की तलाश कर रही है। इस मामले में कई टीमें सक्रिय हैं और उम्मीद है कि जल्द ही मामले का खुलासा हो जाएगा.

पुलिस की इस संयुक्त मौजूदगी से पूरे इलाके में सुरक्षा व्यवस्था और मजबूत हो गयी.

सुरक्षा मार्च के दौरान बाजारों में व्यापारियों से विशेष बातचीत की गयी. उन्हें सुरक्षा संबंधी पहलुओं से अवगत कराते हुए कहा गया कि किसी भी तरह की अफवाह या संदिग्ध गतिविधि की सूचना तुरंत पुलिस को देना बेहद जरूरी है.

पुलिस अधिकारियों ने आश्वासन दिया कि नागरिकों की सुरक्षा सर्वोच्च प्राथमिकता है और शांति भंग करने के किसी भी प्रयास को गंभीरता से लिया जाएगा।

एसपी ग्रामीण अक्षय महाडिक ने संबंधित अधिकारियों को क्षेत्र में नियमित गश्त, चेकिंग व निगरानी जारी रखने का निर्देश दिया. संवेदनशील स्थानों पर विशेष निगरानी रखने का भी निर्देश दिया गया.

उन्होंने स्पष्ट किया कि कानून-व्यवस्था से कोई समझौता नहीं किया जाएगा और शांति भंग करने की कोशिश करने वालों के खिलाफ सख्त कार्रवाई सुनिश्चित की जाएगी।

असामाजिक तत्वों को दिया सख्त संदेश

बुढ़ाना फ्लैग मार्च के जरिए पुलिस प्रशासन ने साफ संकेत दिया कि जिले में शांति व्यवस्था बिगाड़ने वाले तत्वों पर कड़ी नजर रखी जा रही है. पुलिस की सक्रिय मौजूदगी से क्षेत्र में सुरक्षा व्यवस्था को लेकर सकारात्मक संदेश गया.

स्थानीय लोगों का कहना है कि इस तरह के फ्लैग मार्च से इलाके में विश्वास बढ़ता है और अपराधियों के मन में कानून का डर पैदा होता है.

ऐसे अभियानों का उद्देश्य संभावित अव्यवस्था के डर को पहले से ही नियंत्रित करना और नागरिकों के बीच विश्वास बनाए रखना है।

बुढ़ाना फ्लैग मार्च के दौरान पुलिस अधीक्षक ग्रामीण ने स्पष्ट शब्दों में कहा कि जिले में कानून व्यवस्था बनाए रखना सर्वोच्च प्राथमिकता है और किसी भी प्रकार की अवैध गतिविधि या अशांति फैलाने की कोशिश करने वालों के खिलाफ तत्काल कार्रवाई की जाएगी।

उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि पुलिस और जनता के सहयोग से ही सुरक्षित और शांतिपूर्ण माहौल सुनिश्चित किया जा सकता है.
