Yamaha Music India appoints AR Rahman as brand ambassador

How playing on rented musical instruments played a vital role in the making of a music superstar – this is the story of the making of AR Rahman. The musical genius, who helped India achieve global heights by winning the Grammy Award for the song “Jai Ho” from the film Slumdog Millionaire, had another “Jai Ho” moment in his life.ARR, as he likes to address himself, was announced as the brand ambassador of Yamaha Music India earlier this week. On the stage he shared his secret that he started playing musical instruments of this brand at the age of 12 and today he is also being paid to become the brand ambassador.

AR Rahman reacts to Ramayana controversy, calls the epic a story of values beyond religion

Yamaha Music India made the announcement at a glittering event in the music emperor’s hometown Chennai. While the event saw Yamaha leaders unveiling their achievements and growth strategies for India, Rahman appeared on stage for the formal signing. What followed was a story of amazing insight through a session conducted by author and senior film journalist, Rana Siddiqui Zaman. In a touching story of life coming full circle, Rahman reveals what made him accept the offer to become the brand ambassador. With pride, excitement and nostalgia in his voice, he opened up to a question about what makes him talk about Yamaha with such enthusiasm. “I have been using Yamaha musical instruments since the age of 12. After my father’s death, my mother used to rent Yamaha musical instruments to run the household”. He especially liked playing the portable piano because he could not buy one for a long time as it was quite expensive then. Gradually, as Rahman’s life got better with his mother’s dedication to music and her hard work and extraordinary skills, he was able to not only buy several of them for his KM Music Conservatory in Chennai, but also keep a collection of them to create music at every possible stage of his life.“What started as a wish is now a reality.” However, his preference for Yamaha is due to the “high quality and reliability” of its equipment more than anything else.To a question on how Yamaha is strategizing its plans for music lovers in India in the future, Yamamoto Taketoshi, Managing Director, Yamaha Music India, replied, “Since music is at the core of Yamaha’s philosophy, India’s rich musical heritage deserves global recognition.” Through our ‘Made in India’ initiative and our collaboration with AR Rahman, we aim to inspire the next generation of musicians and expand structured music education across India. But what are your plans? To which Ryoji Maruyama, sales unit head, said, “Our mission goes beyond instruments. We are committed to nurturing musical communities through workshops, school collaborations and rural outreach programs. This partnership strengthens our vision of making music accessible to every aspiring artist. You will soon hear a lot of good news from us for India,” he said with a meaningful smile. It is interesting to know that Yamaha already runs 500 music schools in India and is going to expand more. It belongs to Yamaha’s “Music School Project”.On what kind of legacy Rehman wants to leave, he reiterated that Yamaha’s ‘Made in India’ focus is making quality equipment more accessible. “This initiative is already benefiting the young talents being developed at my own KM Music Conservatory and The Sunshine Orchestra. If we continue to mentor young artists and strengthen music education, Indian musicians can lead on the global stage.”Now he does not say that sound engineers or new musicians, those who play musical instruments will have to run for jobs. “Together, we are creating a solid background for them,” he said with a twinkle of pride in his voice.

Artemis II launch: What astronauts do the night before liftoff; Inside NASA’s pre-launch rituals

Artemis II launch: What astronauts do the night before liftoff; Inside NASA's pre-launch rituals

The night before a big event, whether it’s a major event in one’s life or a major event in space, is often a time full of nervous energy, and astronauts are no exception. As NASA prepares for its historic mission to the Moon, a mission that marks a return to the Moon after more than 50 years, the stakes are high, and the event is one for the ages. But, contrary to what one might think, the night before such a big event does not involve a dramatic countdown or any kind of intense training, but rather a highly structured and highly personalized day filled with a mix of therapy, family and highly balanced activities designed to prepare both mind and body for one of humanity’s most epic adventures.

Inside NASA’s pre-launch routine the night before a Moon mission

The pre-launch preparation of an astronaut, as shown in the movies, is far from the reality of the situation. In the past, the last night before launch was spent in routine medical checks, including monitoring the astronauts’ vital signs to ensure they were physically ready for launch.NASA has always stressed the need to ensure physical and mental preparation of astronauts before launch. according to human space flight program Guidelines before launch, stability is crucial for the success of the mission. Therefore, the last night before launch is spent in rest so that the astronauts can conserve their energy and remain alert.Unlike the situation depicted in the movies, the last night before launch is spent not in preparation but in rest, hydration and mental preparation to ensure that the astronauts are in the best condition to handle the challenging times ahead.

Kennedy Beach House: A Historic NASA Tradition

One of the most treasured aspects of NASA’s launch tradition is being in Kennedy Space Center Beach House. Built in 1962, this beach house is located on Merritt Island and has been set aside exclusively for astronauts since its construction. The beach home is significant because it has been the destination for generations of astronauts, from Apollo missions to the International Space Station and even SpaceX missions. The importance of the beach house does not lie in its luxury, but in the peace and sense of belonging that the astronauts get from this place. The beach house overlooks the Atlantic Ocean and has a large balcony where the astronauts can relax and momentarily escape from the stress of their mission. According to NASA, these types of facilities are necessary to help astronauts “maintain emotional balance” before missions, highlighting the importance of astronauts’ mental state.

Family time before launch: A human side of space missions

However, the most important part of the evening might just be the time spent with loved ones. In the case of the Artemis II mission crew, the evening before launch was spent at home on the beach with family, as reported at the Artemis II L-2 countdown status news conference on March 30.It provides astronauts with the opportunity to spend quality time with those closest to them, which can be a source of emotional foundation before embarking on a journey into space.NASA has emphasized the importance of the role played by astronauts’ families during missions. In various interviews conducted with astronauts and published on the official NASA channel, astronauts talk about the importance of moments spent with their families before missions.

Artemis II mission: calm before historic launch

As the Artemis II astronauts prepare to head for the launch pad, their last night before launch has been a mix of discipline and calm. After spending time with their families on Tuesday (March 31), the astronauts will begin preparations for their launch day, thus beginning their journey to orbit the Moon and eventually land on it.The difference between a night of peace and a journey that will take astronauts far beyond Earth’s orbit in decades cannot be underestimated. The night before a space launch isn’t about fanfare; Rather, it’s about consistency, connection, and preparation. From medical checkups to a beach house, these are long-standing traditions aimed at nourishing astronauts holistically.Space exploration is, in short, a triumph of the human spirit rather than a triumph of science and technology. And sometimes, the most important preparation for a giant leap starts with a quiet evening by the sea.

Upcl Provide Affordable Power To Industries Category Reclassification To Encourage Consume

Long seasonal infection periods like this year are bad for pets

Long seasonal infection periods like this year are bad for pets
As the weather continues to fluctuate between extremes, pet owners need to remain vigilant. Veterinarians recommend paying attention to distress signs such as reduced appetite, low energy, or skin irritation. To keep pets healthy, make sure they have access to fresh water, and avoid walking them during the hottest parts of the day.

This year, what we call seasonal change is taking longer than usual. Winter is definitely gone, but we don’t know whether summer has arrived or not. We feel heat and cold depending on the time of day or the place we are. Indoor office ACs have some of us reaching for shawls or light jackets, while being out on the street makes us sweat – leading to cold, body aches. But this strange weather affects pets more. Their body is much more adapted to nature than ours. This is also the time when you may notice your dog laying on the floor for a little longer than usual. Your cat is abandoning his favorite sunny window perch. The water bowls are emptying rapidly. But unlike us, pets don’t complain. They adapt. And sometimes, they endure. Kolkata-based veterinarian Dr. Krishnau Ghosh suggests ways to pay attention to the symptoms of diseases during seasonal infections and talks about preventive steps to be taken.

Signs to look out for…

  1. Loss of appetite or reduced water intake: If a pet suddenly eats less or stops eating, it may be a sign of fever, infection, gastric upset, kidney problems or heat stress.
  2. Vomiting, diarrhea or excessive salivation: Frequent vomiting, loose stools or drooling may indicate gastroenteritis, viral infection (parvo, distemper), food intolerance or heat exhaustion.
  3. Drowsiness, weakness or excessive sleepiness: Unusual lethargy, reluctance to walk/play, or weakness may indicate fever, dehydration, metabolic disorders, or systemic infection.
  4. Skin problems, itching, redness, hair fall: Persistent scratching, licking of paws, foul odor, redness, rashes or hair loss usually indicate fungal infection, bacterial dermatitis, tick/flea allergy, which is very common in hot humid weather.
  5. Excessive panting or difficulty breathing: Excessive panting even while resting, rapid breathing, or discomfort in hot weather may indicate heat stroke or heat stress, which requires immediate attention.
  6. Changes in urination or drinking behavior: Very frequent urination, difficulty urinating, very dark urine, or drinking unusually high or low amounts of water may be a sign of a urinary infection, kidney strain, dehydration, or metabolic imbalance.
  7. Fever, shivering or abnormal body temperature: Hot ears, shivering or sudden weakness may indicate infection or systemic disease.
  8. Eye or nose discharge, coughing or sneezing: May be a sign of respiratory infection, viral disease or allergies, which can flare up during weather changes.
summer pet care

Seasonal changes are affecting pets more than humans. Provide plenty of water and a cool environment (Image: iStock)

Now let’s come to prevention

You can prevent heat stroke and dehydration by always providing clean drinking water, keeping pets in a cool, well-ventilated area, and avoiding walks between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Never leave pets inside parked cars. Skin related problems also increase at the beginning of summer. Ticks, fleas, fungal and bacterial skin infections are very common in March-April. Regular care and timely anti-tick treatment is important. Viral and stomach infections increase during seasonal changes, and seasonal infections can lower immunity in our pets, leading to vomiting, diarrhea, parvo, distemper, etc. Keep vaccinations up to date and avoid any sudden changes in diet.Maintaining a proper diet with good moisture is essential: include wet food or a balanced home diet with adequate water content. Good hydration helps prevent kidney, urinary and digestive problems. And the most important part is to provide a comfortable environment for our pets, to ensure cool resting areas and avoid exposure to excessive heat. Maintain good hygiene (bath at regular intervals and groom according to your veterinarian’s suggestions) to reduce stress-related illness.

UAE: Sharjah warns that April Fool's pranks can lead to jail, Dh100,000 fine for spreading false information

Posting or sharing false information online, even as a joke, can have serious legal consequences in the UAE, with authorities warning that humor offers no protection under the law. Sharjah Public Prosecution has warned residents that spreading misinformation online, including April Fool’s material, could result in jail terms and heavy fines. In a public awareness message, officials said the law does not distinguish between content shared for entertainment and content that causes harm, treating both as criminal offenses. Under Article 52 of Federal Decree-Law No. 34 of 2021 on Combating Rumors and Cybercrimes, anyone publishing or republishing false information online can face a minimum of one year in prison and a minimum fine of Dh100,000. The law applies to material that may incite public opinion, disturb public safety, spread panic, or harm the public interest, the economy, public order, or public health. Officials also stressed that intent is not a defense, meaning even a joke could lead to prosecution. Penalties increase in more serious cases. If the misinformation is used to mislead the public or incite action against state officials or institutions, offenders can face at least two years in prison and a fine starting at Dh200,000. During emergencies, crises, epidemics or disasters, penalties become stricter due to the potential for creating panic and disrupting public safety. In extreme cases, such as during wartime, knowingly spreading harmful rumors may result in the death penalty under applicable laws. Legal experts quoted by Khaleej Times said the main issue is not whether the content is intended as a joke, but how the public views it. Diana Hamade said that pranks involving fake emergencies, false government declarations or fabricated events pose the greatest risk, especially when shared widely. He said the broader the reach, the greater the legal risk, with influencers and large accounts facing tighter scrutiny. “It was a joke,” he said, adding that it is not a valid defense if the content misleads or causes harm. Fatima Salem Al Saidi, acting general manager at Abdullah Al Kaabi’s Office for Advocacy and Legal Counsel, explained that April Fool’s jokes are not illegal by default, but become punishable when they mislead the public or cause confusion. Officials assess factors such as realism, use of official logos, links to ongoing events and how widely the content spreads. According to Igor Abalov, in today’s digital environment even seemingly harmless jokes can be immediately interpreted as real information. He said liability arises when false information reaches and begins to spread regardless of intent, adding that even deleted posts can lead to legal action if they have already been disseminated. Officials said the legal framework, including Federal Decree-Law No. 34 of 2021, the UAE Penal Code and media regulations, focuses on the impact of the content rather than the intention behind it. Residents have been urged to verify information before sharing and avoid posting misleading content for engagement. With April Fool’s Day being celebrated on April 1, authorities reiterated a clear message: Content shared as a joke can quickly cross into criminal territory if it misleads or harms the public.
