मुजफ्फरनगर खतौली कस्बे में मामूली विवाद ने इतना तूल पकड़ लिया कि विरोध का तरीका ही चर्चा का विषय बन गया। एक स्थानीय कांग्रेस नेता और सफाई कर्मचारियों के बीच विवाद ने कुछ ही समय में एक अजीब लेकिन प्रभावशाली मोड़ ले लिया – गुस्साए सफाई कर्मचारियों ने नेता के घर के बाहर कूड़े का ढेर लगा दिया।

विवाद छोटा था, प्रतिक्रिया ‘जबरदस्त’ निकली

जानकारी के मुताबिक, कस्बे के रहने वाले कांग्रेस नेता जमील अंसारी का नगर पालिका के सफाई कर्मचारियों से किसी बात को लेकर विवाद हो गया. शुरुआत में यह मामला सामान्य बहस तक ही सीमित था, लेकिन धीरे-धीरे यह तूल पकड़ता गया।

और फिर वही हुआ जो आमतौर पर फिल्मों में देखने को मिलता है- जवाब भी उसी अंदाज में दिया गया, जिससे सीधा “संदेश” मिला.

‘सफाईकर्मियों’ ने दिखाया असली ‘प्रतिरोध’

नाराज सफाई कर्मचारियों ने नारेबाजी या विरोध का रास्ता नहीं चुना, बल्कि बेहद प्रतीकात्मक विरोध प्रदर्शन किया. उन्होंने नेता के घर के बाहर कूड़े का ढेर लगाकर साफ संदेश दिया- ‘सम्मान दें, नहीं तो हालात ऐसे भी हो सकते हैं.’

यह घटना देखते ही देखते स्थानीय लोगों के बीच चर्चा का विषय बन गई. कुछ लोगों ने इसे मज़ाकिया तौर पर लिया तो कईयों ने इसे व्यवस्था और व्यवहार पर गंभीर टिप्पणी माना.

मामला बढ़ने पर पुलिस मौके पर पहुंची और स्थिति को नियंत्रित करने की कोशिश की. दोनों पक्षों को समझाने के साथ ही बातचीत के जरिये विवाद को सुलझाने का प्रयास किया गया.

सूत्रों के मुताबिक, पुलिस ने दोनों पक्षों को संयम बरतने की सलाह दी और मामले को आगे न बढ़ाने की अपील की.

छोटी सी बात से बड़ा संदेश- सम्मान का सवाल

यह घटना सिर्फ एक स्थानीय विवाद नहीं है, बल्कि यह उस बड़े सवाल की ओर भी इशारा करती है कि समाज में काम के आधार पर सम्मान का संतुलन क्या है. शहर को हर दिन साफ-सुथरा रखने वाले सफाई कर्मचारी जब खुद के लिए सम्मान की मांग करते हैं, तो उनके तरीके भले ही अलग हों, लेकिन संदेश साफ है।

स्थानीय राजनीति में हलचल, चर्चा बनी ‘शहर में चर्चा’

खतौली का यह मामला अब राजनीतिक गलियारों में भी चर्चा का विषय बन गया है. जहां एक ओर नेता के समर्थक इसे बढ़ा-चढ़ाकर किया गया विरोध बता रहे हैं, वहीं दूसरी ओर कुछ लोग इसे ”सीधा जवाब” बताकर इसका समर्थन भी कर रहे हैं.

खतौली की यह घटना अपने आप में अनोखी जरूर है, लेकिन इसके पीछे छिपा संदेश बिल्कुल साफ है- सम्मान हर व्यक्ति के लिए जरूरी है, चाहे उसकी भूमिका कोई भी हो. कूड़े का ये ढेर अब सिर्फ एक विरोध प्रदर्शन नहीं बल्कि एक सामाजिक संकेत बन गया है, जिसकी चर्चा दूर तक होगी.

A Sialkot man pleaded guilty in a US court to leading an international human trafficking conspiracy that involved shell companies, fake visas and a ‘dinky’ route through Ecuador, Cuba, Colombia and then through the southern border into the US. Abbas Ali Haider, 49, was extradited from Mexico to the US in July 2025 to face charges here. After pleading guilty, he will be sentenced on July 30. They were allowed to enter Latin American countries through fake visas but their final destination was the US through the Mexican border.“From approximately September 2019 to September 2023, Haider fraudulently obtained visas for Pakistani nationals to travel to Ecuador, Cuba and Colombia under the guise of legitimate business travel, while their actual destination was always the southern US border. Posing as employees of Haider’s fake companies traveling to work in films, Pakistani nationals were recruited into Latin America and the Caribbean countries. Haider’s network then led them to the US-Mexico border, from where they illegally entered California, Texas and Arizona. For this, Haider charged each individual up to $40,000,” the Justice Department said.America is sending illegal foreigners sitting in PakistanHaider used his fake film companies to sign contracts with film companies in Ecuador, Cuba and Colombia. He then sponsored visas for Pakistani nationals who were to work for Haider’s companies, under the guise that they were working on a joint filming project in Latin America. Haider provided Pakistani nationals with fake documents that showed they worked for his companies, which he used at ports of entry in Panama, Brazil and Colombia. Haider trained the aliens to say they worked in the film industry to deceive and thwart Customs and Border officers. Haider’s network of smugglers helped Pakistani nationals travel to the US-Mexico border, from where they illegally crossed into California, Texas and Arizona.Haider traveled from Pakistan to Mexico in late 2024 and was arrested in Mexico in January 2025 at the request of the US government.

Meenu Batra’s lawyer Deepak Ahluwalia talks about what’s next for Batra’s legal fight after Batra is released from ICE custody after six weeks.

Indian-origin Meenu Batra, who was detained by ICE for living in the US as an undocumented person since 1991, remains untraced even after being released from six weeks of ICE custody, her lawyer Deepak Ahluwalia said in an interview. The release was a victory and he can no longer be detained again without notice, but they are now pushing for military parole for him, since his son is in the US Army, so that Batra can get a green card.Ahluwalia said the detention was completely unnecessary as Batra had been living in the US for 35 years, paying taxes and working as a legal interpreter for the courts. She was never called by ICE or given any information, but while she was on a work trip she was surrounded by ICE agents as if she were a cartel member. Batra could not be sent to India because there was an earlier court order to this effect and the administration was planning to send him to a third country. Ahluwalia said that during the six-week detention, the administration did not name any third country because they had no plan.They arrested Meeni Batra first and they didn’t know what to do, the lawyer said, adding that ICE is insisting on increasing the number of their arrests because they have to meet a quota. And keeping people in detention centers also benefits the corporations that run these centers, which explains the complex system running on gross abuses of justice.Ahluwalia said Meenu Batra is eligible for military parole as a family member of an army personnel. And if they can get it, they will apply for a green card for minnows.Describing his conversation with Batra after his release, Ahluwalia said that Batra considered herself an emotionally strong person because she had fled the Sikh genocide in India, but this ICE arrest shook her to the core.Ahluwalia said racism was also a factor in Meenu Batra’s detention, which instilled fear among other immigrants.Meenu Batra came to America in 1991 after her parents were murdered in Punjab. He had not entered the country legally, but in 2000, he received a legal status known as ‘suspension of removal’, which prevented him from being deported back to India for fear of persecution.

सचिवालय में हुई बैठक में मुख्य सचिव ने अधिकारियों को मलबा प्रवाह को लेकर जोखिम आकलन पर किये जा रहे कार्यों की जानकारी दी. बताया गया कि चमोली, उत्तरकाशी और पिथौरागढ़ जिले में कुल 48 संवेदनशील स्थान चिन्हित किये गये हैं। ये सभी स्थान मुख्यतः जल निकासी नालों के आसपास स्थित हैं, जिन्हें जोखिम के आधार पर उच्च, मध्यम और निम्न श्रेणियों में वर्गीकृत किया गया है, ताकि प्राथमिकता के आधार पर कार्य किया जा सके।

इस कार्य के लिए विभिन्न संस्थानों को शामिल करते हुए एक संयुक्त समिति का गठन किया गया है, जिसमें उत्तराखंड भूस्खलन शमन एवं प्रबंधन केंद्र, केंद्रीय भवन अनुसंधान संस्थान, भारतीय भूवैज्ञानिक सर्वेक्षण, भारतीय रिमोट सेंसिंग संस्थान और उत्तराखंड अंतरिक्ष अनुप्रयोग केंद्र शामिल हैं।

New Delhi: The central government at its meeting on Tuesday approved increasing the strength of judges from 33 to 37 (except the Chief Justice of India), six years after it was increased from 31 to 33.The government said the move was aimed at strengthening Supreme CourtThe aim is to ensure speedy justice as there are more than 92 thousand cases pending before the Supreme Court.The Cabinet meeting chaired by PM Modi approved the proposal to introduce the Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Amendment Bill, 2026 in Parliament to amend the Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Act, 1956 to increase the strength.The Constitution leaves the size of the Supreme Court open. Article 124(1) provides for the Chief Justice of India and allows Parliament to determine the number of other judges through legislation.That number has been revised from time to time to keep pace with rising cases. The first such change came with the Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Act, 1956, which fixed the number of judges at 10, apart from the Chief Justice. Later in 1960 it was increased to 13 and in 1977 to 17. Despite this, the workforce remained limited to 15 for a period until 1979, when the restriction was lifted following a request by the Chief Justice.Further expansion took place over the decades. The approved number was increased to 25 in 1986 and to 30 in 2008. The most recent amendment came in 2019, when Parliament increased the number of judges from 30 to 33, excluding the Chief Justice of India.These periodic increases reflect an effort to align the court’s capacity with the ever-increasing backlog, even as questions remain over whether increasing the bench strength can address delays in justice delivery.
