A newly discovered 6,000-year-old mega-structure in Romania is rewriting the prehistoric history of Europe

In Romania’s Botoșani County, a team of archaeologists unearthed a massive 6,000-year-old structure. This discovery challenges our basic ideas about how human societies evolved. According to a study published on PLOS One, the structure, dating back to the Cucuteni-Trypillia culture around 4000 to 3900 BC, is spread over about 350 square meters. This is approximately four times larger than standard domestic dwellings of the period. Unlike grand monuments of later times, the site does not show signs of elite wealth or any central leader. This suggests that prehistoric Europeans carried out large engineering projects through community efforts rather than orders from rulers. Located in Stauseni-‘Holm’, this discovery is changing the way we think about prehistoric Europe. This proves that complex architecture can exist without a complex stratified social hierarchy.

Scientists stunned to see huge 6,000-year-old structure hidden in Romania

The structure known as ‘Building 43’ stands out as an unusual architectural feature of the Late Chalcolithic period, especially during the Cucuteni B1 phase. It measures approximately 13 by 27 meters, covering a total of about 350 square meters, according to a study published on. one more. Research indicates that people used sophisticated timber-frame techniques and large quantities of clay (daub) to build it. The building material required – hundreds of tons of clay and wood – shows that the community made a significant collective effort, far exceeding the amount required for typical houses in the settlement.

Why did the Cucuteni-Trypillia culture burn their houses?

The research team conducted geomagnetic surveys and micromorphological analysis. They found that the mega-structure was divided into internal compartments. A major finding is evidence of ‘intentional firing’. Building 43, like many other structures of the Cucuteni-Trypillia culture, was deliberately burned at the end of its use. Scientists found that in some areas the temperature reached more than 800 degrees Celsius. This suggests that the burning was probably a planned ritual, not an accident or act of war.

Researchers discover henbane and poppy seeds

Excavations inside the footprint and foundation levels yielded some rare pottery. Among them were a zoomorphic vessel and intricately designed ladles. More importantly, the researchers discovered burnt seeds of black henbane and opium poppy through detailed analysis. The discovery of these psychoactive plant remains in a large community area suggests that the structure functioned as a ‘social centre’ or ‘ritual centre’.‘Here, people may have gathered for shared experiences that may involve altered states of consciousness.

No luxury items found

The study published on PLOS One highlights an interesting thing about site similarity. Even though the building is very large, it does not contain any of the luxuries such as gold, copper or rare imports that you would expect in the home of a king or chief. This information indicates that the people of Stouseni functioned as a sophisticated society without a leader in charge. The massive structure served as a ‘community centre’, demonstrating that ancient Europeans could achieve impressive engineering feats by working together socially rather than under a coercive authority.

Pregnancy Tracking Platform: New digital system to track every pregnancy, ensuring no mother or baby is left out india news

New digital system to track every pregnancy, ensuring no mother or baby is left out

New Delhi: In a move that could change the way maternal and child healthcare is delivered, the Center has launched a new digital platform – Janani (Journey to Integrated Prenatal, Delivery and Newborn Care) to track pregnancy, delivery and newborn care across the country.A key feature is the QR-based digital Mother and Child Health Card, which allows doctors to access medical records instantly – even if the patient moves to another state. This is expected to help migrant families who often lose continuity of care. The platform, developed as an enhanced version of the government’s Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) portal – which tracks pregnancies, deliveries and child health – creates a longitudinal digital health record for each woman during her reproductive years, covering the entire cycle from pregnancy and delivery to postnatal and neonatal care, along with family planning.Unlike the earlier RCH system, Mother Provides real-time tracking, QR-based digital records, and integration with other health programs, allowing continuous monitoring and timely intervention.Dr. Rahul Manchanda, Ma. Senior Consultant (Endoscopic Gynecology), PSRI Hospital, said, “This can improve key indicators such as maternal and neonatal mortality. A major benefit is the portability of digital health records, especially for the migrant population, allowing continuity of care across states and cities. Also, there should be strong security measures in place to protect patient data and ensure that records are accessed only by authorized personnel. The Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act should also include stronger protections for such healthcare platforms.Officials said Janani will help ensure that pregnant women and newborns do not miss important checkups, vaccinations or follow-ups. The system generates alerts and reminders, and also provides real-time dashboards for monitoring and targeted intervention. It can flag high-risk pregnancies early, allowing doctors to intervene timely and reduce complications. The platform is also integrated with other national programs such as U-WIN, which tracks vaccination, and Poshan, which focuses on nutrition and child health, improving coordination across services. Women can register using Aadhaar, ABHA or mobile number, and can also register themselves through mobile or web platforms. So far, more than 1.34 crore beneficiaries have been registered, including more than 30 lakh pregnant women, and more than 30 lakh digital health cards have been generated.Officials said it aims to strengthen the last mile healthcare delivery and ensure that no mother or child is spared, especially in vulnerable and mobile populations.

New Delhi: The encounter between Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders at the Arun Jaitley Stadium here on Friday night offers an interesting subplot. India will see three frontline spin options in the T20 setup – Varun Chakravarthy, Akshar Patel And -Kuldeep Yadav. Although they were part of the pinnacle of India’s T20 World Cup title defense in March, the trio have faced struggles since then.Go beyond limits with our YouTube channel. Subscribe now!For KKR’s Varun, problems started arising during that successful T20 World Cup campaign. Although he emerged as the joint-highest wicket-taker with Jasprit Bumrah with 14 wickets, rivals got a better idea of his mystery spin from the Super-8 stage. He has taken just five wickets in his last five World Cup matches and his tournament economy has peaked at nine.

‘Perform or perish’, feels Hemang Badani as DC faces must-win situation

His poor form in the early stages of the IPL continued as Varun went wicketless in the first two matches before being ruled out due to a hand injury. In fact, Varun had to wait until his fourth match this season, against Gujarat Titans, to feature in the wicket-takers’ list as he took 2/34 in Ahmedabad. However, once he got back between the wickets, the 34-year-old showed signs of returning to his best. In recent matches, he has made good use of the crease and come up with subtle variations to gain advantage. He has taken eight wickets in the last three matches with a hat-trick in KKR’s wins.KKR mentor dwayne bravo Looks like the injury has taken a toll on Varun. The former West Indies all-rounder said, “Varun is a world-class spinner and had recently come from a busy World Cup. Sometimes a break at the right time is important. No one doubted his ability. The group has supported him throughout.”

On the other hand, this season is going like a nightmare for Kuldeep Yadav of Delhi Capitals. There seems to be a battle to warm the bench for most part of India’s T20 World Cup campaign. He has been guilty of bowling too short and has taken only seven wickets at more than 10 runs per over in 10 matches. However, Kuldeep’s teammate David Miller supported the left-arm wrist spinner. “He’s a great character and it’s important for me to have guys like that playing consistently, because he’s a match-winner. So take the good with the bad. There have been one or two games where he hasn’t bowled the best he could have,” Miller said. However, DC captain Axar has fared better than his spin-bowling partner. Although he is the leading wicket-taker for the team this season, nine wickets in 10 matches is not a statistic the left-arm spinner will be very proud of. Apart from this, some of the decisions taken by Akshar as captain have been criticized and he might be facing the consequences of it.

Ovarian Cancer Symptoms: World Ovarian Cancer Day: Swelling is not always normal; Early warning signs every woman should know

World Ovarian Cancer Day: Inflammation is not always normal; Early warning signs every woman should know

It starts small. One morning you feel a little bloated. Your jeans fit a little tight. You assume it’s something you ate, maybe excess salt at dinner, or just one of those days. So you go ahead. You drink more water, give up sweets, maybe take extra walks. But then it happens again. And then. Weeks pass. Swelling does not go away. This is where most women make mistakes. They make it normal. They assume there’s something wrong with their body, that this is just what aging looks like, or that work stress is finally getting to them. But what if it’s something else? What if that constant bloating, that constant feeling of fullness, that inexplicable weight in your stomach is trying to tell you something important?“Swelling is one of the most common symptoms women come to me with,” says Dr. V Srikanth Reddy, senior consultant in surgical oncology at KIMS Hospitals (Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences) in Electronic City, Bengaluru. “But here’s the thing—most women dismiss it because it seems so common. That’s why ovarian cancer is often called the silent disease. By the time women seek help, the disease has already advanced.

Ovarian cancer does not declare itself

It doesn’t come with any rash or dramatic symptoms that force you to pay attention. Instead, it whispers. It’s hidden behind complaints that seem like a thousand other things – digestive problems, hormonal changes, stress. The challenge with ovarian cancer, according to studies on early detection, is exactly this ambiguity. Women mistake these symptoms for PMS, irritable bowel syndrome or lactose intolerance. Sometimes even doctors do this.“The difference is time,” explains Dr. Reddy. “Inflammation related to ovarian cancer does not resolve. It is relentless. Women tell me that their clothes feel tight, they don’t look pregnant, yet they look pregnant and no matter what they try, it doesn’t help. They went to the grocery store wondering if they were lactose intolerant. He has reduced carbs. He has completely changed his diet. And yet, the swelling persists.”Hantavirus outbreak on MV Hondius: Health officials monitor dozens of people who left the ship after first death; What will happen next? Hantavirus survivor’s terrifying warning after deadly outbreak: ‘I thought I had the flu… then my lungs started filling up’

set of clues

Here’s what medical professionals want women to understand: Ovarian cancer rarely shows up as a single symptom. It shows up as a collection of things, sometimes subtle, sometimes more obvious. With persistent swelling, women may experience pain in the pelvic area or lower abdomen. They may feel full after eating only a small amount of food. Their appetite may disappear almost without warning. They may find themselves constantly running to the bathroom, or they may feel tired for no apparent reason.Other signs include unexplained weight loss or weight gain, and a general feeling that something is not right – persistent fatigue that no amount of sleep can fix. The challenge is that each of these symptoms can be explained differently. Tiredness? You are working very hard. Loss of appetite? You are stressed. Frequent urination? You may be drinking too much coffee. But when they occur together, when they cluster around each other and persist for two weeks or more, they become red flags worth investigating.

which should be given extra attention

Not all women are at the same risk. If you are over fifty, your risk increases. If you have a family history of ovarian cancer or breast cancer, you are at higher risk. If you have endometriosis, if you have certain gene mutations like BRCA1 or BRCA2, if you’re living with obesity – all of these factors change the odds.“Women with a family history need to be especially vigilant,” Dr. Reddy emphasizes. “And I always recommend genetic counseling for people with a strong family history. We can identify risk earlier and put people on appropriate screening protocols.”But here’s the harsh truth: You don’t have to be in a high-risk category for ovarian cancer. It can happen to anyone. Which means everyone has to listen to their body.

what really helps

There is no guaranteed way to prevent ovarian cancer. But there are ways to catch it earlier, and it can make a big difference. Regular gynecological exams matter more than many women realize. Maintaining a healthy weight, eating a diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables, staying physically active — these aren’t revolutionary suggestions, but they do reduce the risk. Avoiding smoking and limiting alcohol also helps. And paying attention to your family history, really knowing what health problems ran in your family, not just vaguely knowing there was something there, gives you important context.“Early diagnosis changes everything,” says Dr. Reddy. “We now have new surgical techniques like complex cytoreductive surgery and therapies like HIPEC and PIPAC that significantly improve survival rates. We have better chemotherapy and targeted therapies. “But they work best when we catch the disease early.”Studies consistently show that early detection of ovarian cancer dramatically improves survival rates. The difference between catching it in stage one and stage three is profound. The difference between catching it and not catching it at all is everything. On World Ovarian Cancer Day, the message is clear: don’t neglect your body. Don’t assume that persistent symptoms are normal just because they aren’t dramatic. And don’t wait to see a doctor until you’re absolutely sure something is wrong. Because by then you will have waited too long.Medical experts consulted This article includes expert inputs shared with TOI Health: Dr V Srikanth ReddySenior Consultant in Surgical Oncology at KIMS Hospitals (Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences) at Electronic City, BengaluruThe input was used to explain the early symptoms of ovarian cancer.

Candace Owens: Fact Check: Was Candace Owens arrested for harassment after alleged Facebook threats?

Fact Check: Was Candace Owens arrested for harassment after alleged Facebook threats?
Laura Loomer reignited her feud with Candace Owens by sharing a newspaper archive that allegedly showed Owens faced harassment and bullying allegations in 2007. The report claimed that Owens had sent threatening messages on Facebook, although no record of conviction has emerged. The clash escalated after Owens accused Loomer of fraud and harassment. Loomer denied the allegations and called Owens a “pathological liar”, while warning that legal action could be taken if their public social media battle intensifies.

Laura Loomer and Candace Owens have turned their online rivalry into one of the most talked-about conservative media feuds of the week. The latest clash began when Loomer resurfaced an old newspaper clipping that showed Owens facing molestation-related charges as a teen. The post quickly spread throughout X, making years-old allegations public again and reigniting debates around privacy, online attacks, and political influencer culture. The controversy grew even more heated as it came amid Owens’ own claims that he was targeted through a coordinated harassment campaign after leaving the Daily Wire. Loomer responded aggressively, accusing Owens of hypocrisy and insisting that the commentator was trying to portray himself as a victim despite his previous controversies. The public fallout has now turned into a widespread online war that includes allegations of stalking, doxxing and legal threats.

Candace Owens harassment allegations spark fresh controversy

Loomer shared a newspaper archive on X that allegedly referenced a 2007 incident involving Owens. In the post, Loomer wrote, “Clandace Owens knows a lot about harassment while she pretends to be the victim. It’s been her MO her entire life. Did you know she was literally arrested once for harassment? Here’s a newspaper archive from a newspaper in Connecticut where she was arrested.”The archived report described Owens as “the victim of an alleged hate crime in which the mayor’s son was a suspect,” while also saying he was later arrested after “sending threatening messages via Facebook.”Stamford Police Sergeant Joseph Kennedy said, according to the article, “Owens allegedly sent a digital message threatening physical harm to another person’s account.”CTPost and News-Times reports said Owens faced charges of second-degree harassment and second-degree menacing at the time. However, no publicly available court records indicate any convictions associated with the case.

Laura Loomer and Candace Owens’ feud gets extremely personal

What started as a disagreement over alleged doxxing soon turned into personal attacks involving family members and legal charges. Owens accused Loomer of targeting her personal information and claimed someone tried to impersonate her when opening a State Farm account.Loomer denied wrongdoing and commented at length on Axe. He wrote, “Candace, you are a pathological liar. Your information about your cars is publicly available online through your trust and your husband’s arrest record. The VIN number is publicly traceable to all other vehicles you own.”He later added, “You are a malicious liar and you will be held accountable in a court of law.”This feud is continuously increasing on social media, both the women are making allegations and counter-allegations daily. As screenshots, old reports and personal claims continue to circulate online, the fight has become another example of how conflicts between political influencers can increasingly dominate digital conversations and blur the line between public debate and personal warfare.

Tamil Nadu post-poll drama: TVK MLAs threaten mass resignation; AIADMK hides MLAs in resort; What next?
MK Stalin, Vijay, Edappadi Palaniswami

New Delhi: The largest party, still far away from the throne of Chennai. Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam led by mega film star Vijay emerged as a formidable force in Tamil Nadu, breaking its decades of dominance. DMK And AIADMK With a broad cinematic wave. However, its path to power remains uncertain as the party failed to prove a clear majority before Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar.“Thalapathy” VictoryKi TVK, which outperformed both DMK and AIADMK, emerged as the strongest by winning 108 seats in the 234-member assembly. Nevertheless, the party fell 10 seats short of the majority mark of 118, leaving government formation in limbo. The disruption has reshaped Tamil Nadu’s traditional political arena, even as an unexpected thaw has begun between arch rivals DMK and AIADMK. Meanwhile, sources said TVK chief Vijay is considering mass resignation of all 108 party MLAs if DMK or AIADMK attempts to form government.

Government asked Vijay for proof of majority

Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar on Thursday invited Vijay to the Lok Bhavan and told him that the requisite majority support in the Tamil Nadu Assembly needed to form the government had not yet been established.According to ANI sources, the Governor sought clarity on the “magic number” required for government formation and asked Vijay to submit details of MLAs supporting Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam’s claim to form the government in Tamil Nadu.TVK emerged as the largest party with 108 seats in the 234-member assembly, while DMK won 59 seats and AIADMK won 47 seats. Congress is strongly supporting TVK with its five MLAs, taking the alliance strength to 113. However, Vijay is expected to vacate one of the two seats won, bringing TVK’s effective strength to 107 and the alliance’s total to 112, still five short of the majority mark of 118.The Governor’s refusal to immediately invite Vijay to form the government drew sharp criticism from TVK leaders and allies, many of whom accused him of acting under pressure from the BJP-led central government to stall the constitutional process.Several parties have demanded that the Governor invite Vijay to form the government and allow him to prove his majority through a floor test in the Assembly.

Arch rivals come closer amid TVK boom

The DMK and the AIADMK have found a nascent harmony among themselves as a strong counter to the influential TVK.The unimaginable suddenly seemed possible in Tamil Nadu politics. A dramatic turn in the power struggle after the elections, the acting Chief Minister mk stalin DMK MLAs were reportedly informed that arch rival AIADMK had come to seek support to form the government and prevent Vijay from reaching the chief minister’s chair. Multiple sources told TOI that the MLAs have left the final decision in Stalin’s hands. Meanwhile, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami is understood to have sought an appointment with Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar on Friday.Hours before the high-stakes DMK meeting, Stalin was locked in discussions with leaders of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, CPI and CPM, whose combined six MLA numbers could be crucial in the game. Sources said the possibility of AIADMK’s outreach and possible restructuring also came up during the talks, with the allies expected to reveal their stand on Friday.

Colleagues criticize Governor, back floor test for Vijay

VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan and Left party leaders criticized Governor Arlekar for not inviting Vijay to form the government and accused the BJP-led central government of attempting to “complicate Tamil Nadu politics and Vijay’s position”.Addressing the media on Thursday, Thirumavalavan said that as per constitutional provisions, the Governor should immediately invite Vijay to form the government. “If he fails to do so, it would mean that the governor is deliberately trying to complicate and muddy the prevailing political situation in the state,” he said.Thirumavalavan, CPI state secretary M Veerapandian and CPM state secretary P Shanmugam later met Stalin at his residence to discuss the post-poll scenario.“We discussed the election results. We also talked at length about the current political scenario,” Thirumavalavan said. He said that discussions continued regarding TVK leader Vijay’s invitation to VCK and other parties. He said, “We have received a letter expressing their desire to form a government with the VCK. He (Vijay) has also spoken to me. We are considering that. But we have to look at many other factors before reaching any decision. We cannot be hasty as the party has certain procedures.”Veerapandian said, “TVK has emerged as the largest party in the voting. Therefore, the Governor should give enough time to TVK to prove its majority in the House.” Shanmugam also expressed the same view.Durai Vaiko also criticized the Governor, saying that any attempt to delay or prevent Vijay from assuming office was unconstitutional and against the mandate of the people.
