822/4 and win by 794 runs! Cricket match generates unrealistic scorecard

New Delhi: It was nothing short of a run-fest in a cricket match that produced numbers that were almost impossible to believe. A single team conceded a staggering 822 runs – not the combined total of both teams. Yes, one team alone crossed the 800-run mark in what has been called one of the strangest matches in Zimbabwe domestic first-league cricket. The match between Scorpions Cricket Club and Methane Lions turned entirely into batting as Scorpions Cricket Club scored a mammoth score of 822/4 in their allotted 50 overs.

What made the result even more surprising was the response of the Methven Lions, who could only manage 28/7 in reply, handing the Scorpions an incredible 794-run win. After winning the toss, Scorpions captain Praise Makaza chose to bat first – a decision which spelled complete disaster for the opposition bowlers. The star of the show was Winfed Mutende, who scored a breathtaking 203 runs off just 75 balls at a strike rate of 270.67. His innings included 23 fours and 13 sixes, turning the contest into a brutal exhibition of power-hitting.

.

If that was not enough, Takunda Madembo laid the foundation with a stunning innings of 302 runs off 143 balls with 50 fours and seven sixes and retired after batting for 272 minutes. The massacre did not stop here. Gabriel Jaya remained unbeaten on 110 off just 49 balls at an average of 224.49, while Vincent Moyo made a quickfire 78 off 39 balls.Scorpions Cricket Club eventually finished at 822/4 in 50 overs at an astonishing run rate of 16.44 per over. The pitch, which looked extremely batting-friendly during the first innings, suddenly became a bowler’s paradise when the Mithan Lions started the chase. They were reduced to just 28/7 and suffered a crushing 794-run defeat.

.

The currently highest recognized List A team is from Bihar, which scored 574/6 against Arunachal Pradesh in Ranchi during the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Vaibhav Suryavanshi had scored 190 runs on 84 balls in that match. Before this unprecedented attack, only a few teams had crossed the 500-run mark in official 50-over cricket. Tamil Nadu scored 506/2 against Arunachal Pradesh in 2022, while England scored 498/4 against Netherlands in an ODI the same year.Other huge totals such as Surrey’s 496/4, England’s 481/6 against Australia and Mumbai’s 457/4 were once considered outrageous batting efforts. Now, Scorpions Cricket Club has taken scoring to a whole different dimension. His run rate is 16.44 per over, almost double the pace of most record-breaking one-day totals.

Barack Obama: Barack Obama’s Quote of the Day: “You can’t let your failures define you – you have to let them teach you. You have to let them show you what to do differently next time.” | world News

Quote of the Day by Barack Obama: "You can't let your failures define you – you have to let them teach you. You have to let them show you what to do different next time."
Quote of the Day by Barack Obama

Failure is often seen as something that people should avoid at all costs. Failure is often associated with disappointment, embarrassment or regret, whether it is school exams, career, relationships or public life. But some of the world’s most influential leaders have called failure not the end, but an important part of growth. One such voice is the former President of America. Barack ObamaWhose quote still resonates with millions of people around the world, “You can’t let your failures define you – you have to let them teach you. You have to let them show you what to do differently next time.”The message of the statement goes far beyond politics. It’s about flexibility. It’s about learning. It’s about personal development. It’s about the ability to bounce back. Obama‘s words remind people that mistakes and failures are not weaknesses in a world where people are under constant pressure to appear successful. But they can also be turning points that shape future successes. This quote has been especially popular among students, entrepreneurs, professionals, and young people trying to deal with uncertainty. It is often shared in difficult moments because it shifts the focus away from shame and onto bettering ourselves. It does not encourage people to run away from failure, but to study it, understand it, and grow from it.

Quote of the Day by Barack Obama

“You can’t let your failures define you – you have to let them teach you. You have to let them show you what to do differently next time.”

Why does Barack Obama’s quote about failure keep inspiring people?

This quote is powerful because it is real, and almost everyone experiences it. Failure is the rule. Every person experiences failures in life, no matter how successful he or she is. It is not the failure itself that determines the outcome, but how people react to it.Obama’s words show that failure should not define a person’s identity. People often use a bad experience as proof that they are not good enough or that they are incompetent. Failing an exam can make a person feel stupid. A person may feel like a failure after a business fails. Rejection can make us feel like we’re not good enough. But this quote also directly challenges this thinking. This means that failure is information, not luck. It can expose weaknesses, improve judgment and teach lessons that success sometimes cannot. This is especially relevant in today’s world, where social media has often promoted unattainable ideals of perfection. People share accomplishments publicly but rarely talk openly about struggles. As a result, many people begin to believe that successful people never fail. Obama’s quote counters that fallacy by normalizing failures as part of the learning process.

The personal journey behind Obama’s words

This quote also rings true because it comes from a man who has overcome many obstacles before reaching global prominence. Before becoming President of the United States, Barack Obama has faced political defeat, criticism, and uncertainty about his future. His early career suffered a serious setback in 2000 when he lost the congressional race in Illinois to Bobby Rush. This defeat was a blow that caused him to reconsider his political project and personal ambitions. He did not leave politics, but reflected on the experience and rebuilt his career step by step.He became the first African American President of the United States, serving two terms from 2009 to 2017. His journey has been an example of perseverance, patience and long-term thinking. This context makes the quote less like a motivational slogan and more like an experience. Obama wasn’t talking about failure in principle. He experienced it firsthand and publicly.

Failure often becomes the foundation of future success

Many psychologists and leadership experts believe that failure can play an important role in human development. People often learn more from difficult experiences than from easy victories. Failure brings reflection. It encourages adaptation and can also build emotional resilience. For example, in entrepreneurship, failed businesses are considered learning experiences rather than permanent defeats. Many successful entrepreneurs are candid about the mistakes they made in the beginning. They learn lessons from those experiences that often help them build stronger companies later. The same pattern is seen in sports, education, science and creative industries. Many champions learn important lessons after losing a match. You’re going to get rejection letters before you publish your first book. Scientists achieve success only after repeated failure of experiments. This is largely in line with Obama’s quote. It doesn’t deny the pain of failure, but it defines failure as something that can still have value.

Why does fear of failure prevent many people from taking risks?

One of the themes the quote refers to is courage. Fear of failure can keep people from trying new things in the first place. Many people don’t take risks because they are afraid of embarrassment, criticism, or disappointment. This fear can silently influence life decisions. The fear of rejection may keep a person from applying for their dream job. The risk of failure may be too high for someone else to start a business idea. Some people may get stuck in situations that no longer bring them joy because not knowing is scary.Obama’s message calls for a different mindset. If we look at failure as a teacher and not as something permanent, it loses some of its impact. The opportunity to learn reduces the emotional impact of a shock. This concept is important for professional and personal development. Many times, after going through difficult times, people realize what their strengths are.

The Relationship Between Resilience and Leadership

Great leadership is rarely built on an easy path to success. Often, flexibility is one of the defining characteristics of effective leaders. But the ability to recover from mistakes is often more important than avoiding them. Some of the most respected names in history faced setbacks before gaining recognition. Abraham Lincoln lost several elections before being elected President. Oprah Winfrey faced some career setbacks early on in television. Walt Disney suffered business failures before creating one of the world’s largest entertainment companies.Obama’s quote epitomizes this larger truth about resilience. Leadership is not without mistakes. Sometimes, it’s the ability to keep learning in spite of them.

Modern culture’s complex relationship with failure

There’s a lot of talk about self-development and resilience, but society is still struggling with failure in many ways. Academic pressure, work competition, and comparison to others create an environment where mistakes can seem impossible.Young people especially feel a lot of pressure to achieve. Grades, salary, social status, and career achievements are often used as measures of worth. In such a situation, even small failures can seem emotionally overwhelming. This is one reason why quotes like Obama’s are still widely spread on the Internet. They offer emotional reassurance as well as a practical approach. The message is more than just “stay positive.” Rather, it promotes analysis, adaptation, and persistence. And the quote also points to a better long-term way of thinking about ambition. Success rarely follows a straight path. Most journeys involve uncertainty, delays, missteps and surprises.

Lessons learned from failure often become more valuable over time

One interesting thing about failure is that the lessons are not always immediately obvious. Sometimes it takes years for people to understand the value of a setback.Sometimes, a missed opportunity can lead a person to a better career path. A failed relationship can teach emotional maturity. Professional disappointments can lead to patience or discipline.Obama’s quote illustrates this delayed understanding well. Failure matters not because it feels good at the time but because it can change future decisions. Most successful people consider their failures not the end, but a turning point. Difficult experiences forced them to upgrade skills, reevaluate priorities, or build resilience they didn’t have before.

People rarely discuss the emotional side of failure.

Most motivational talks focus on ‘learning from failure’, but the emotional side matters equally. Failure can have a profound impact on self-confidence, identity and mental well-being.People experience embarrassment, shame, sadness, or fear after failures. Obama’s quote is important in part because it recognizes the emotional power of failure. The warning against letting failure “define you” assumes that people take failures too seriously. It’s hard to separate one’s self-worth from temporary results. But psychologists often note that this division is important for emotional resilience. Just because someone fails doesn’t mean he lacks talent, intelligence or ability.Rather, failures are situational and temporary. With this knowledge, people can recover more creatively.

Barack Obama’s communication style and why his quotes spread globally

Obama is known for speeches and statements that are both optimistic and realistic. He often talks about hope, perseverance, and moving forward together, but he never dismisses difficulties. This quote clearly shows that balance. It doesn’t try to make failure fun. However, when considered thoughtfully, failure does not seem useful.Over the years, Obama’s quotes have been widely shared because of their ability to speak not just to political issues, but to broader human experiences. His words are universal, often touching on themes of resilience, responsibility, and personal growth.Even years after leaving office, his speeches and statements are still shared in classrooms, leadership seminars, social media posts, and self-improvement conversations.

Why does Barack Obama’s quote still matter in everyday life?

The enduring power of Obama’s quote lies in its simplicity and honesty. Everyone experiences disappointment sometimes. Career sometimes comes to a halt. Plans go awry. Hopes were dashed. But those moments don’t necessarily determine what happens next. This quote encourages people to deal with failure differently. It asks people to view setbacks as opportunities for adjustment and growth rather than signs of defeat. This message seems especially relevant today in many ways. Today the world is changing very rapidly and people always have to face uncertainty. Careers often change over time, industries change and personal goals also change.Flexibility has become more important than perfection.Obama’s words clearly reflect that reality. Failure is not the end of the story unless people allow it. For many people, this idea keeps them motivated during difficult times.Perhaps that is why this quote continues to resonate among people even today. It does not promise easy success or immediate change. It simply reminds people that failure can still have a purpose, a lesson, and direction going forward.

US Ambassador to Israel says Israel sends Iron Dome batteries, personnel to UAE to defend country

TEL AVIV: Israel sent Iron Dome anti-missile batteries and the personnel to operate them to the United Arab Emirates to defend the country during the Iran war, US Ambassador to the country Mike Huckabee said on Tuesday.Mike Huckabee’s comments underscore growing defense ties between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, countries that have long been suspicious of Iran because of the still-shaky ceasefire in the Iran war. However, the narrow Strait of Hormuz remains in Tehran’s grip and talks between the US and Iran appear to be at a standstill for the time being, increasing the risk of re-igniting conflict.Huckabee, a Baptist minister, former governor of Arkansas and one-time presidential candidate, made the remarks during an event in Tel Aviv, Israel.“I want to say a word of appreciation to the United Arab Emirates, a member of the first Abraham Accords,” Huckabee said at the Tel Aviv conference. “Just look at the benefits. Israel has sent Iron Dome batteries and personnel to help operate them.” he adds. The United Arab Emirates, a federation of seven sheikhdoms on the Arabian Peninsula, diplomatically recognized Israel in 2020.The UAE did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Huckabee’s acceptance.Huckabee said he was “very optimistic” that additional countries in the region would soon join the Abraham Accords, the 2020 diplomatic recognition deal that also included the Gulf Arab kingdom of Bahrain for formal ties with Israel. However, many Arab states are angered by Israel’s extensive military operations following Hamas’s 2023 attack on the country, including the leveling of the Gaza Strip and attacks by Iran’s allies across the wider Middle East. Israel now also controls territory in Lebanon and Syria.“The Gulf countries now understand they have to make a choice – is it more likely that they will be attacked by Iran or Israel?” Huckabee asked. “They see that Israel helped us and Iran attacked us. Israel is not trying to occupy your land, and is not sending missiles at you.”

Alfred Nobel’s Quote of the Day: “A heart can no more be forced to love than a stomach can be coaxed into digesting food.” |

Alfred Nobel's quote of the day:
Alfred Nobel (Image: Wikipedia)

Love, emotions and human relationships have always been some of the most complex aspects of life. For centuries, philosophers, scientists, writers and thinkers have tried to explain why people feel affection, attachment, trust or distance. Alfred Nobel made a very thoughtful comment on this point when he said, “A heart can no more be forced to love than the stomach can be forced to digest food by coaxing.”This quote may seem simple at first, but it speaks to a truth that is deeply human. Nobel compares emotional bonds to a physical, natural thing. You cannot tell the body to digest food just by words. You cannot make the human heart feel love through pressure, obligation, or force. Real feelings come naturally. They cannot be created by social expectation or persuasion. And this still rings true today. In modern relationships, friendships, workplaces, and even family structures, people still struggle with emotional expectations and the need for acceptance. Nobel’s words are a subtle reminder that some human experiences should not be controlled or demanded. They have to evolve naturally and honestly over time.

Today’s Quote by Alfred Nobel

“No more can a heart be forced to love than the stomach can be forced to digest food by persuasion.”

What is the hidden meaning in this statement of Alfred Nobel?

The beauty of the quote is its simplicity. Nobel makes a comparison that everyone can understand. Digestion is an automatic biological process. It cannot be done because someone says or argues that it should be done. Emotional attachment doesn’t happen because people want it to happen. The quote is about the difference between pressure felt from the outside and felt from the inside. Human emotions are very personal and often unpredictable. Love, trust and affection develop from shared experiences, understanding, care and emotional connection, not from obligation.Nobel’s words are also associated with an important psychological truth. Trying to pursue feelings often gets you resistance, not intimacy. No real emotional connection can develop under pressure in personal relationships or social settings. This observation remains relevant as many people struggle with expectations related to relationships, family approval, social obligations, and emotional conformity.

Beyond Who was Alfred Nobel? nobel prize

Today most people know Alfred Nobel as the founder of the Nobel Prize, one of the world’s most respected international awards. But Nobel’s own life was more complex than most people know.Alfred Nobel was a Swedish inventor, chemist, engineer, businessman and author born in 1833. During his lifetime, he held over 350 patents and became most famous for inventing dynamite, a safer way to handle nitroglycerin for industrial purposes such as mining and construction.Dynamite revolutionized engineering and infrastructure, but it also gained a reputation as a weapon of war and destruction. That double inheritance would later have a profound impact on Nobel’s life.In 1888, a French newspaper published an obituary on him, thinking that he had died (it was his brother, Ludwig Nobel, who had died). In his obituary he has been called a “merchant of death”. It is said that it had a deep impact on him when he read how the world would remember him. Many historians believe that this experience influenced Nobel’s decision to create a Nobel Prize in his will. He wanted his money to be used for achievements that would help mankind, be they science, literature, medicine or peace.

Why do Nobel quotes still connect with people today?

Modern society puts more pressure on relationships and emotional expectations. Sometimes social norms dictate that people should feel affection, loyalty, admiration, or emotional closeness.Nobel’s quote suggests the opposite. It knows that genuine feelings cannot be forced merely by social pressure. This message resonates strongly in today’s world, where relationships are increasingly defined by digital communications, public image, and external validation. Social media often shows idealized versions of love and emotional connection, which can create unrealistic expectations.Nobel’s words bring us back to focus on emotional honesty. True affection is not negotiable like a business deal. It comes naturally with trust, understanding and emotional compatibility.

Human emotions cannot always be rationalized

One reason the Nobel quote remains so powerful is that it recognizes the complexity of human emotions. People think you can control emotions with logic, but emotions don’t follow rules. For a long time, psychologists have studied how emotional attachment is created through a combination of biology, memory, environment, and personal experience. Emotional connection is more important than decision making. This reality is reflected in Nobel’s analogy of love and digestion. There are human processes that are natural and cannot be completely controlled by persuasion or reason. This is why forced relationships, emotional manipulation or social pressure often do not create real relationships.

The emotional cost of forced expectations

In many societies throughout history, personal relationships have been fraught with expectations. People were repeatedly advised to keep up appearances, regardless of how they were really feeling.People were sometimes expected to cling to relationships, beliefs, or social systems even if they were unhappy. Nobel’s quote gently refutes the notion that emotions cannot be forged through pressure.Modern psychology also knows the emotional effects of suppression of real feelings. Emotional dishonesty can also be a source of stress, anxiety, resentment, and emotional isolation.Healthy relationships are usually based on mutual understanding and voluntary emotional connection, not mere obligation.

Why does authenticity matter in relationships?

Nobel’s words also highlight the importance of honesty in human relationships. Real relationships generally emerge when people feel emotionally safe enough to speak their truth.Trust and emotional closeness are rarely sustainable in the long run when they are based on performance or expectation. These days, authenticity is more valuable than ever, as many people are tired of the constant pressure of social performance and digital presentation. For many, it is a competition for real emotional engagement in public image.Nobel’s quote reminds readers that emotions are still very human, and they cannot be completely controlled by social systems or persuasion.

Alfred Nobel’s life was full of contradictions

One reason Nobel is of historical interest is that his life was full of contradictions. He was a scientist whose inventions not only changed the face of industry, but also became associated with war. He acquired immense wealth but was said to suffer from loneliness and personal isolation.Nobel never married and traveled for business and scientific work for most of his life. Historians say that he was brilliant in intellect but restrained in emotions. His writings and personal letters reveal that he spent much time thinking about morality, relationships, and human nature. This quote, and others, reveal Nobel’s more contemplative and philosophical side, often influenced by his achievements in science.

Relationship between science and emotion

Nobel is remembered primarily for science and engineering, but his quote shows how deeply scientific thinkers can consider emotional life as well.Science is generally about understanding physical systems and what can be observed. But many great scientists have also investigated questions of meaning, emotion, morality, and human behavior.Nobel’s analogy between digestion and emotional attachment is an example of scientific thinking applied to human relationships. He states an emotional truth through an organic process. The reason the quote is so enduring is the combination of rational observation and emotional understanding.

Why do people still struggle with emotional control?

Despite advances in psychology and communication, humans still often attempt to control emotions through persuasion, pressure, or expectation.Parents may push their children into certain relationships or career choices. Social systems may promote emotional congruence. Public opinion can influence the way people express their personal feelings. But as Nobel’s quote shows, you can’t demand emotional authenticity merely by existing. This is still true today, as many people feel this tension between emotions and expectations.

Love as a natural human experience

One of the most enduring ideas in Nobel’s quote is that love is most effective when it is allowed to grow naturally.Healthy emotional attachments are typically formed over time through shared experiences, trust, vulnerability, and mutual caring. When you try to force or intensify emotional closeness, you usually only create instability.Literature, psychology and philosophy all reflect this viewpoint. Genuine human connection is something that emerges organically, not through control.Nobel expressed this truth in the simplest language possible. Perhaps that is why this quote has remained relevant across generations.

Other famous quotes from Alfred Nobel

  • “If I have a thousand ideas and only one of them turns out to be good, I am satisfied.”
  • “After agriculture, humbug is the greatest industry of our age.”
  • “Satisfaction is the only real wealth.”
  • “Good wishes alone will not ensure peace.”
  • “Hope is nature’s veil to hide the nakedness of truth.”
  • “Nature is a good place to start studying chemistry.”

How does Nobel’s legacy continue today?

Today, the name Nobel is known throughout the world because of the Nobel Prize, which is awarded annually for outstanding achievements in the fields of physics, chemistry, medicine, literature, peace and economic sciences. The awards recognize those whose work has greatly benefited mankind. Nobel’s decision to establish these prizes revolutionized global recognition of scientific, cultural and humanitarian achievements. The Nobel Prize is recognized around the world every year because it is a symbol of excellence, discovery, and worldwide influence. But even more than the awards, the Nobel Prizes themselves remain of interest because they show a more philosophical and humanitarian side of the inventor.

Why do simple quotes often leave the deepest impact?

Nobel’s quote is memorable in part because it expresses a complex emotional truth in the language of common human experience.People understand hunger, digestion, love and emotional despair. Nobel weaves these familiar experiences in a way that feels immediate and honest.Unlike abstract philosophy, it appears to be based on everyday life. It acknowledges what most people learn from experience: that you can’t always control your emotions with logic or persuasion. That simple insight is what gives the quote its lasting emotional impact.

The enduring relevance of Nobel’s words

More than a century after Alfred Nobel’s death, his words still resonate because human emotions have not fundamentally changed. People still want love, acceptance, emotional security, and real relationships. Many people struggle at the same time with the expectations placed on relationships by society, family, or personal pressure.Nobel’s quote subtly reminds the reader that real love cannot be ordered or bargained into existence. It must happen spontaneously, truthfully, willingly. That understanding remains deeply relevant today in every generation.

'Tell the country the condition of our economy': Arvind Kejriwal's 3 demands in response to PM Modi's 7 appeals
PM Modi and Arvind Kejriwal (R)

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party supremo Arvind Kejriwal Sharp questions were asked to the Prime Minister on Tuesday Narendra ModiThe “seven appeals” to citizens amid the ongoing conflict in West Asia say the country is “shocked” by the government’s message on the economy.Addressing a press conference, the AAP chief said India has gone through many crises since independence, including wars and economic recession, but such a widespread public appeal had never been made before.“Since 1950, the country has faced several crises, including wars with Pakistan and China and economic crises. Leaders like Lal Bahadur Shastri and Indira Gandhi had earlier appealed to people not to buy gold, but no government had made such a comprehensive ‘seven appeals’ to citizens.” The country is in shock,” Kejriwal said. The former Delhi chief minister said he had “three requests” from the Prime Minister after his recent remarks asking people to cut down on consumption and spending amid global economic uncertainty. He said, “I have three requests from the Prime Minister. He should tell the country what is the state of our economy today and what is expected to happen in the near future. There are a lot of rumors floating in the market today and this is not good for confidence in the economy.”Kejriwal linked the situation to the escalating Iran-US conflict and the broader West Asia crisis, but questioned why India’s response appeared more serious than that of other countries. He said, “We all know that this is happening because of the Iran-America war and the whole world is affected. But the government of any country has not made such an appeal to its citizens. This raises suspicion that perhaps the reason is something else.”The AAP leader also expressed concern that the middle class was being disproportionately burdened.Kejriwal said, “The middle class is very patriotic, but why is the entire burden being put on them only? The first sacrifice should have come from the government itself.”His comments come after PM Modi, speaking in Secunderabad on Sunday, urged citizens to change consumption habits in response to rising global economic pressures and disruptions caused by the West Asia conflict. The Prime Minister appealed to people to work from home wherever possible, reduce fuel consumption, avoid foreign travel for a year, buy indigenous products, cut down on the use of cooking oil, adopt natural farming and reduce gold purchases.Emphasizing the need to cut import dependence, PM Modi said every family should reduce consumption of edible oil and support natural farming to save foreign exchange and protect the environment.Highlighting India’s rising fertilizer import bill, the Prime Minister urged farmers to gradually reduce the use of chemical fertilizers. To deal with volatile fuel prices, PM Modi also called for greater use of metro systems and public transport, encouraged car-pooling, promoted railways to transport goods and pushed for widespread adoption of electric vehicles. The appeals come amid tensions in West Asia and a deepening global energy crisis caused by the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, a vital oil trade route in the Gulf region.

Nigerian man wrongfully released from London jail after kidnapping 5-year-old son from France; UK started search operation

Nigerian-British man kidnaps son

British authorities have launched a search for a Nigerian-British man accused of kidnapping his five-year-old son from France to Nigeria after he was wrongly released from a London prison and may have fled to Britain within days.Ifedayo Adeyeye, 58, was released from London’s HMP Pentonville on April 21, despite being sentenced to an extra 12 months in prison the day before for repeatedly defying court orders to return his son, Lories, to his mother in France.According to court proceedings reported by Sky News, Adeyeye spent hours “loitering” in London after his release, reportedly enjoying dinner and drinks at a pub before traveling to Spain the next day. Police were reportedly informed about the jail disturbances only three days later, drawing sharp criticism from the court.Calling it a shocking state failure, High Court judge Mr Justice Hayden said prison authorities showed a “worrying lack of urgency”.The judge said, “If the police had been contacted immediately, perhaps, almost certainly, this could have been prevented. The public is entitled to expect much better than this.”

Kidnapping of a child during first night stay

The case centers on Lories N’Dozsé Adeyeye, a five-year-old boy born in France to Adeyeye and Claire N’Dozsé, a Cameroonian citizen. The couple met in Grenoble in 2020 and later separated. After DNA tests confirmed that Adeyeye was Loris’s biological father, a French court granted him supervised visitation rights, while full custody remained with the mother. The trouble began in July 2024 during Laurie’s first night staying with his father.Instead of returning the child, Adeyeye allegedly took her from France to England and then to Nigeria without the mother’s consent. When N’Djosse asked for answers, Adeyeye reportedly claimed that the child had gone on a “two-week vacation” with relatives. Investigators later discovered that he had secretly smuggled the lorries out of France.French authorities later issued an international arrest warrant against him on child kidnapping charges.UK court used rare powersThe case later took an extraordinary legal turn when the High Court of England ruled that it had the authority to order the return of the child, even though Laurie was outside Britain.Justice Hayden said the case was highly unusual because it involved three countries – France, Britain and Nigeria. The court also observed that Nigeria is not a signatory to the Hague Convention on International Child Abduction, complicating efforts to ensure the boy’s return.Despite this, the High Court exercised its “inherent jurisdiction” based on the Lories’ British nationality and ordered Adeyeye to return the child directly to France. After repeatedly ignoring court orders, Adeyeye was jailed for six months in January 2026 for contempt of court. While serving that sentence, he was found guilty of further breaches and on 20 April was sentenced to a further 12 months. However, prison officials reportedly failed to process the new sentence in time, resulting in his mistaken release the next morning.

Judge calls kidnapping an ‘act of cruelty’

Justice Hayden described Adeyeye as “arrogant and cunning”, “cold and calculating”, and said the kidnapping was “an act of cruelty that even this court rarely witnesses”.The judge said of Lauries, “He now finds himself in a foreign country, without his father or mother,” adding that the child’s entire world had been “taken away.”The judge also highlighted concerns raised during supervised visits to France before the abduction. Contact center staff reportedly described Adeyeye as aggressive, neglectful, and uninterested in understanding his son’s daily routine or emotional needs.

The suspect may have fled to Spain

During the latest hearing, the Metropolitan Police told the court that Adeyeye may have traveled to Spain on April 22, a day after his wrongful release. Spanish authorities have reportedly been alerted. The court heard that prison officials blamed a “communication failure” with the courts for the release, with Justice Hayden dismissing this claim as “completely baseless”.Lawyers representing Ms N’Jose accused British authorities of repeatedly failing the mother and child. His lawyer Chris Bryden said, “The state has failed him not only in securing the father’s release, but also by not notifying the Metropolitan Police immediately.”

Court removes anonymity to aid search

In a rare move, the High Court allowed the identification and images of both Adeyeye and Lawries to be published to help locate them.Family court proceedings involving children are usually kept confidential, but the judge ruled that transparency was justified in exceptional circumstances and in the public interest.Britain’s Justice Ministry said it was working with police to recapture Adeyeye and acknowledged growing concerns over the wrongful release of prisoners.Official figures show that 179 prisoners were wrongly released in England and Wales between April 2025 and March 2026.
