H-1B Visa: H-1B visa holders woke up at 3.30 am to book appointment for August 2027, American professionals shocked

अगस्त 2027 के लिए अपॉइंटमेंट बुक करने के लिए H-1B वीजा धारक सुबह 3.30 बजे उठे, अमेरिकी पेशेवर हैरान

Court documents claimed they both knew the positions listed in the petitions did not exist and supplied H-1Bs to other clients.

One American policy professional expressed surprise and surprise at how little people are talking about H-1B visa Situation in India – Once you are out of the US and your visa stamping is over, how difficult is it to enter the US again. Sam Peek, policy manager at the Economic Innovation Group, said he received a message from someone on H-1B status who had to wake up at 3.30 a.m. to book a consular appointment for August 2027. Peek said this issue is still under-discussed while there is much discussion on the H-1B weighted lottery, salary levels, Project Firewall to prevent H-1B fraud, etc.Peake said that at a basic level, the White House has made it much more difficult to re-enter the United States.Peek said, “Wait times at Indian consular offices are usually ridiculous, but visa holders can overcome these backlogs by going to US embassies with less bureaucratic stress (like Canada) to renew their visas. The White House ended this practice last year. Now, if an Indian H-1B needs to travel for work or has a family emergency in their home country, they may not be able to seamlessly depart and return. Will be.”A major standoff occurred in December 2025 when consular offices in India rescheduled all H-1B, H-4 visa appointments and postponed them till mid-2026. All dates were pushed back and no new slots were opened in India in the last six months. Now such reports are coming out that some dates are opening randomly in June, July this year, whereas till a few months ago the situation was that there were no slots available in India till 2027.Mass rescheduling of dates was triggered by the new policy of social media checking of visa holders, for which consular offices reduced the number of appointments per day. As hundreds of H-1B visa holders were stuck in India indefinitely, their employers were in a dilemma about allowing some to work from India.

Celeste Rivas Hernandez’s cause of death revealed; Medical examiner says teen died from ‘serious injuries’

Celeste Rivas Hernandez's cause of death revealed; Medical examiner says teen died from 'serious injuries'

The official cause of death of 14-year-old singer Celeste Rivas Hernandez, associated with singer D4vd, has finally been revealed.

Cause of death of Celeste Rivas revealed

The teen, who was found dead and mutilated in the trunk of D4vd’s Tesla car, had ‘severe injuries’, according to an autopsy report released on Wednesday. According to the autopsy, there were significant wounds on his torso, which were probably caused by a sharp object.

Celeste Rivas’ body parts missing

His body was so disfigured that examiners could not even determine the color of his eyes. According to reports, at the time of her death she had braces and a tattoo on the inside of her finger that read “Shh…”. Parts of his hands and feet were missing as well as two other fingers. The body was reportedly ‘badly decomposed’ and its head was “partially skeletonized and missing its left eye.”

drugs found in his system

The autopsy report is “presumptive positive” for methamphetamine and MDMA, according to a report by LA County Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Ode C. Ukpo. The report further states that the victim may have had alcohol in her system, but it did not cause her death. The examiner in Los Angeles ruled that Celeste was killed by multiple injuries caused by unspecified objects, and ruled her death a homicide.

The report was sealed after prosecutors granted permission for release.

A judge ordered the report sealed in November at the request of law enforcement after the teen’s dismembered body was found in September. But prosecutors agreed this week to allow its release. Dr. Ode C. Ukpo, L.A. County’s chief medical examiner, has sought to emphasize his agency’s independence from law enforcement and make its work as public as possible since taking over three years ago.He has said that he does not believe that sealing reports of his office’s work helps the investigation and has said that he would block release of the reports if compelled by court order.“After many months, I am grateful that this information can now be released not only to the public, but also to the grieving family,” Ukpo said in a statement Wednesday. “It is beyond comprehension that they had to wait so long to find out what happened to their daughter.”

Reason behind alleged murder

Prosecutors allege D4VD murdered the girl because she threatened to report that they had had a sexual relationship when she was 13 and he feared it would ruin her budding career.21-year-old alt-pop singer D4vd, whose legal name is David Burke, was charged with murder on Monday. He pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder, committing a lewd and lascivious act on a person under the age of 14 and mutilating a corpse. Burke’s attorneys said he did not cause Rivas Hernandez’s death and that they will vigorously defend his innocence.

The world’s first nuclear waste vault: Why Finland is burying radioactive waste 400 meters underground world News

The world's first nuclear waste vault: Why is Finland burying radioactive waste 400 meters underground?

Finland is on the verge of switching on what could become one of the most consequential infrastructure projects in the history of nuclear energy, a permanent underground repository designed to store highly radioactive waste for thousands of years. Built deep beneath the island of Olkiluoto, the facility represents a long-awaited answer to the problem that has plagued nuclear power since its early days, that of what to do with fuel when it is no longer usable. As countries turn back to nuclear power to meet climate goals and growing electricity demand, Finland’s solution could offer a working model for safely separating radioactive waste from people and the environment on geological time scales.

The nuclear waste problem and Finland’s underground solution

Since the 1950s, nuclear reactors around the world have generated vast quantities of spent fuel. Globally, this has reached approximately 400,000 tonnes, most of which is currently stored in temporary facilities such as cooling pools and dry casks. These systems are designed for security, but not durability. The challenge lies in the nature of the waste itself. Spent nuclear fuel remains dangerously radioactive for thousands of years, emitting heat and radiation long after it is removed from the reactors. Managing it requires solutions that extend far beyond normal human planning horizons. The north of Finland is a deep geological repository, a system that sequesters waste deep underground in stable rock formations. The Onkalo facility is located approximately 400 to 450 meters below the surface in bedrock that is approximately 1.9 billion years old.The design relies on a multi-layered security approach. The spent fuel is first sealed in metal canisters, which are then encased in corrosion-resistant copper capsules. These are surrounded by bentonite clay, a material that swells when wet and helps block the movement of water. The entire structure is embedded within solid rock, creating several barriers between the waste and the biosphere. This layered system ensures that even if one barrier fails over time, the others continue to contain radiation.

Why go 400 meters underground?

Depth is important for the safety of reserves. Approximately 400 meters below ground, the facility is far from surface-level risks such as extreme weather, human activity and most environmental disturbances. The surrounding rocks have remained stable for billions of years, making it one of the most reliable natural barriers available. Underground conditions also limit exposure to oxygen and water flow, both of which can accelerate material degradation over time.Importantly, this depth provides protection not only for current generations, but also for societies in the distant future, who may not even understand the dangers of buried nuclear waste.

World's first nuclear waste vault

The science behind long-term safety

Designing a facility that will remain safe for 100,000 years required an unusual mix of engineering and geological science. Researchers have studied everything from copper corrosion rates to ice-age cycles that may reshape the landscape thousands of years from now. This concept is based on passive safety. Unlike many industrial systems, the repository does not depend on active monitoring or maintenance once it is sealed. Instead, it is designed to remain stable without human intervention, using natural and engineered barriers to prevent waste.Scientists also model groundwater movement, seismic activity and long-term climate changes to ensure that radioactive materials remain isolated under a wide range of possible future scenarios.

Why has Finland succeeded where others have struggled?

Many countries with nuclear programs have not yet built a permanent waste repository. Finland’s progress is often attributed to a combination of policy, planning and public trust.A major factor was a national decision requiring that all nuclear waste be managed within the country. This created a clear responsibility and avoided the delays associated with international settlement debates.Local acceptance was equally important. Communities near the site were involved early in the decision-making process, and transparency helped build confidence in the safety of the project.Decades of sustained policy and scientific research allowed Finland to move from concept to construction without the political reversals seen elsewhere.

A turning point for nuclear energy

As the world searches for low-carbon energy sources, nuclear power is gaining renewed attention. It provides reliable, round-the-clock power generation with minimal direct emissions. However, the unresolved issue of waste disposal has long been one of its biggest shortcomings.Finland’s stockpile could change that equation. By demonstrating that permanent, safe storage can be achieved, it addresses an important concern for policy makers and the public. This facility alone will not solve the global waste problem. It is designed to hold approximately 6,500 tonnes of Finland’s spent fuel. However, it does establish a working blueprint that other countries can adopt.Once fully operational, the repository will gradually receive spent fuel over the coming decades. Once capacity is reached, the tunnels will be sealed and left undisturbed. From that point on, the system is expected to function independently, containing the radioactive materials as they slowly decay over thousands of years. The idea is simple but profound. Build a system so strong that it can outlast civilizations, requiring no maintenance, oversight, or remembering why it exists.Finland’s nuclear waste vault represents more than a technological achievement. It is an experiment in long-term accountability, a rare example of a modern society planning for consequences that extend far beyond its own lifetime. In doing so, it would have solved one of nuclear power’s most persistent problems, bringing the world closer to a future where clean energy and long-term security can coexist.

‘Reply to acts against India is certain’: Army on Pahalgam anniversary india news

'Reply to acts against India is certain': Army on Pahalgam anniversary

New Delhi: On the first anniversary of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed the lives of 26 tourists, the Indian Army has issued a stern warning to perpetrators of terrorism, saying when “the limits of humanity are crossed, the response is decisive”.The army warned on social media that any misdeed against the country would be responded to. “Response is assured for acts against India. Justice will be delivered. Always,” the Army said in a post on Twitter. It also shared a photo showcasing Operation Mahadev, with the tagline “It was only a matter of time” in red.Operation Mahadev was launched last year to kill the terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack. It was a joint operation by the Army and other security forces as they tracked down and neutralized three terrorists involved in the terror attack. Union Home Minister Amit Shah had then confirmed that three terrorists, identified as Suleman, Hamza Afghani and Jibran, were killed in an encounter under Operation Mahadev in the dense forest area of Lidwas near Harwan on the outskirts of Srinagar.Since the anti-Pakistan operation last May, top military leaders have said several times that Operation Sindoor is “still ongoing”, and the country’s military preparedness is at a “very high” level around the clock and throughout the year.Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi recently highlighted that the deployment of a carrier battle group in the North Arabian Sea affected Pakistan’s naval movements, forcing them to remain close to their ports. On the Navy’s role in Operation Sindoor, Admiral Tripathi said, “It is no longer a hidden fact that we were minutes away from attacking Pakistan from the sea when they requested to stop the kinetic action.”Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi had also described Operation Sindoor as the best example of “tri-service synergy under clear political direction”. Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh had also said that Operation Sindoor was a defining moment which demonstrated the precision, strength and unity of purpose of the Indian Air Force in responding to Pakistan’s “nefarious” (cowardly) act.

Laura Wolvaardt’s South Africa beats India to take 3-0 lead in series

India posted their highest ever score against South Africa but still suffered a nine-wicket defeat at the hands of the home side, with skipper Laura Wolvaardt scoring a brilliant century in the third Women’s T20 International against South Africa here on Wednesday.

In this way, South Africa took an unassailable 3-0 lead and won the five-match series. The remaining two WT20Is in Johannesburg and Benoni are now irrelevant.

INDW vs SAW: Highlights of 3rd T20 match

Electing to bat, India scored 192 for 4 – their highest ever score against South Africa – with captain Harmanpreet Kaur and opener Shafali Verma scoring 66 and 64 runs respectively.

But, South Africa captain Wolvaardt scored 115 runs in just 53 balls, while her opening partner Sune Luus scored unbeaten 64 runs in 42 balls against the poor Indian bowlers and easily achieved the target of 193 runs with 21 balls to spare and took an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series. South Africa reached 193 runs for 1 wicket in 16.3 overs.

This was the third highest successful run chase in women’s T20I history after West Indies and England scored 212 and 198 runs against Australia and India respectively in 2023 and 2018.

Wolvaardt, who has been in top form in the series after scoring 51 and 54 in the first two matches, toyed with the Indian bowlers, hitting 14 fours and five sixes.

Luus, who scored 13 and 57 runs in the first two matches, hit six fours and two sixes.

The South African pair were put together at 183 runs for the first wicket before Wolvaardt was out in the 16th over.

India’s experienced all-rounder Deepti Sharma once again failed with the ball in search of her first wicket in the series. She returned with figures of 0/46 in 3.3 overs on Wednesday.

Earlier, captain Harmanpreet Kaur and opener Shafali Verma scored half-centuries, helping India score 192 runs for 4 wickets with a better batting performance.

Shafali continued her brilliant performance and scored her second consecutive half-century while Harmanpreet’s first half-century in the series. He scored unbeaten 47 and 12 runs in the first two matches, losing which India fell 0-2 in the five-match series.

Harmanpreet scored 66 runs in 38 balls in which she hit seven fours and three sixes.

Shafali, who has scored 34 and 57 in the first two matches of the five-match series for India, displayed solid batting and scored 64 runs from 46 balls, hitting eight fours and two sixes.

She made a partnership of 68 runs for the first wicket with her senior partner Smriti Mandhana (37 runs on 25 balls) and 73 runs for the third wicket with Harmanpreet. She tried to take a catch on Nadine de Klerk’s Nonkululeko Mlaba short ball in the 16th over.

Harmanpreet, who was playing dangerously early on, then took charge and hit some powerful hits. She was run out on the last ball of the Indian innings.

Richa Ghosh remained unbeaten after scoring 18 runs on 10 balls.

Star opener Smriti Mandhana got the start but once again failed to score big. Mandhana was going strong in Shafali’s company as the opening pair had scored 51 runs without any loss at the end of the powerplay.

But the course of the game changed when Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues (0) were out on two consecutive balls in the ninth over bowled by Mlaba.

Mandhana failed to cross the boundary and was out after scoring 37 runs in 25 balls. She and Shefali were together till 68 runs.

On the next ball, Jemimah Rodrigues failed to control her sweep shot and was out for a duck as India’s score suddenly dropped to 68 for 2.

Brief Score:

India: 192 for 4 in 20 overs (Shafali Verma 64, Harmanpreet Kaur 66; Nonkululeko Mlaba 2/31).

South Africa: 193 runs for 1 wicket in 16.3 overs (Laura Wolvaardt 115, Sune Luus 64 not out; Shreyanka Patil 1/30).
