'Dhurandhar 2' box office collection Day 29: Ranveer Singh starrer crosses Rs 1100 crore nett mark; Fails to break 'Dhurandhar' record of highest Week 4 haul

‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’, starring Ranveer SinghContinuing its dominant theatrical run, has crossed the Rs 1,100 crore mark at the Indian box office, while adding a new record to the list of highest fourth week collections.dhurandhar 2 review

‘Dhurandhar 2’ week 4 collection

It seems like the Aditya Dhar directorial is showing signs of slowing down at the box office on its 29th day, with a significant decline in its earnings. According to early estimates from Sacknilk, the film collected around Rs 3.40 crore nett on its fifth Thursday, slipping below the Rs 5 crore mark for the first time. The day’s gross was also modest, estimated at around Rs 4.04 crore.Despite the slowdown, the film finished its fourth week with a total gross of Rs 54.70 crore. This is the first week in which its earnings fell below Rs 100 crore since its release, indicating a gradual decline after an extraordinary start.

Week wise box office performance:

First week: Rs 674.17 croreWeek 2: Rs 263.65 croreWeek 3: Rs 110.60 croreWeek 4: Rs 54.70 crore

Highest collection in week 4

The film grossed a total of Rs 54.70 crore in the fourth week, which helped it reach the number 2 position in the list of highest grossing films in the fourth week. This collection enabled the film to surpass the Rs 53.75 crore collected by Allu Arjun starrer ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’. However, it fell short of breaking the fourth week record set by its predecessor ‘Dhurandhar’, which had earned Rs 106.50 crore during its December release.

Overall box office tally

According to initial estimates, ‘Dhurandhar 2’ has collected Rs 1,103.12 crore nett in India. The film’s gross total collection is estimated at Rs 1,320.49 crore, while the overseas collection of Rs 417.25 crore has taken its worldwide total to around Rs 1,738 crore.

‘Dhurandhar 2’ will surpass ‘Pushpa 2’

With a total collection of Rs 1,738 crore, ‘Dhurandhar 2’ is now just Rs 4 crore away from breaking the record of ‘Pushpa 2’ and becoming the second highest-grossing film of all time. However, it still needs to beat ‘Baahubali 2’s estimated collection of Rs 1,788 crore to grab the top spot.

Trump: Can go to Pakistan if agreement is reached with Iran
US President Donald Trump

US President Donald Trump on Thursday said he can go if there is an agreement to end the war with Iran and it is signed in Islamabad and Iran has agreed to almost everything.Speaking to reporters, Trump took an optimistic stance about Iran. He said he could extend the US-Iran ceasefire set to expire next week, but would not be required to do so. Praising Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Munir, Trump said, “If any agreement is signed in Islamabad, I can go.” “They’ve been great.” This will be the first visit by a sitting US President to Pakistan since George W Bush in March 2006.Trump also said, without providing evidence, that Iran had agreed to give up enriched uranium buried by US-Israeli air strikes last year. Trump is pushing for a deal in which Tehran would give up its N-program. He said the deal would also include “free oil” and opening the Strait of Hormuz. Tehran has not publicly confirmed that it has made these concessions. This is a Reuters story

Public perception seems to be influencing demand for pardon: Delhi High Court convicts Mattu

New Delhi: Delhi High Court examines Sentence Review Board’s decision to refuse premature release Santosh Kumar SinghPriyadarshini Mattoo, serving a life sentence in the 1996 rape and murder case, observed that the board’s decisions seem to be influenced by public perception.Justice Anup J Bhambhani on Thursday said that while there was no doubt that the crime was heinous and caused “permanent harm” to the family of the deceased, “the SRB is preying on public perception”.“You are an extremely unpopular person… Your name does not look good so I (SRB) am rejecting it,” the judge said, marking a trend detected by the HC in several petitions before it arising from the board’s rejection of premature release. The court said, “There is something called reformation… 30 years in custody.”It listed Singh’s petition on April 20 along with other similar petitions on the same issue. The court told Singh’s lawyer, “You will be treated fairly. You will be treated according to what I distill.”The High Court had last month directed convict Singh to surrender as the victim’s brother Hemant Mattoo had strongly opposed his plea seeking premature release. The court had then indicated that it would consider Singh’s pardon plea only if he surrenders, which would lead to termination of his parole. In July last year, a separate HC bench had set aside the board’s decision to reject Singh’s condonation plea, observing that he had shown signs of improvement and asked it to take a fresh decision. It had faulted the Board for relying only on the gravity, cruelty and depravity of the crime and the objections raised by the Delhi Police and the CBI.During Thursday’s hearing, senior lawyer Mohit Mathur sought early hearing of the mercy petition and argued that Singh had already spent 31 years in custody. He said that despite the comprehensive HC verdict last year, the board again rejected his case on the same grounds.Justice Bhambhani pointed out that there were many “worse cases”, including a convict spending 41 years in custody because the board was “just dismissing things” due to the heinousness of the crime despite receiving recommendations to the contrary. In his main petition, Singh challenged the board’s decision dated November 27, 2025, which had rejected his case for premature release after the HC referred the matter back to the board last year. While Hemant Mattoo’s lawyer opposed the plea to extend the hearing date, arguing that the convict had committed a serious crime, the HC replied that Singh was punished for the same.“There’s something called reform. There’s something called a custodial sentence of 30 years.” There is something called transfer in an open jail,” the court said.“I understand your feelings. What he did was unacceptable and the system punished him. He got life. The crime was heinous. What do we do? We imprison a man like this?” Justice Bhambhani expressed surprise and highlighted that Sushil Kumar, convicted in the 1995 Tandoor murder case, had also been released after serving 23 years in jail.Singh’s lawyer cited the example of the 1999 Jessica Lal murder convict, who was later released.Mattu, 25, was raped and murdered in January 1996. Singh, a Delhi University law student, was acquitted by the trial court in the case on December 3, 1999, but the Delhi HC overturned the verdict on October 27, 2006, convicting him of rape and murder and sentencing him to death.Singh, son of a former IPS officer, had challenged his conviction and death sentence in the High Court. In October 2010, the Supreme Court upheld Singh’s conviction but commuted his sentence to life imprisonment.

Anthropic’s new AI model uncovers new risks, vulnerabilities for cybersecurity, IT services

Anthropic's new AI model uncovers new risks, vulnerabilities for cybersecurity, IT services

New Delhi: A powerful new AI model is forcing governments, banks and technology companies to rethink cybersecurity rules — and in India, the risk may be even higher.Cloud Mythos, developed by Anthropic, has demonstrated the ability to autonomously detect and exploit software vulnerabilities, including flaws that have existed for decades. Initial tests showed that the model could identify long-standing vulnerabilities and simulate complex, multi-step cyberattacks, prompting the company to restrict its wider release. Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei highlighted the change, noting that AI systems are now able to find vulnerabilities that “humans have missed”, a sign of how rapidly the cybersecurity landscape is changing.US Treasury Secretary Scott Besant reportedly called a meeting with top bank executives – including leaders from JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, BoA and Morgan Stanley – to assess the risks posed by such advanced AI systems. That concern is not ideological. According to Jaideep Singh, GM of India at Kaspersky, the emergence of such systems is a turning point not just for security professionals, but for everyday users. “We are closely monitoring how AI is reshaping the threat landscape, and the cloud mythos represents a moment that not just the cybersecurity industry but every user needs to understand,” Singh said. The dual-use nature of AI is a point of concern. The same capabilities that strengthen security can just as easily be weaponized. “The same capability that detects 27-year-old vulnerabilities in robust infrastructure is the same capability that turns every unpatched system into an open door if it gets into the wrong hands,” Singh said.Cybersecurity firm Check Point Software Technologies reiterated the warning. Check Point’s MD, India and South Asia, Sundar Balasubramaniam, says AI is “dramatically lowering the barrier of entry for cyber attackers,” enabling even less-skilled actors to identify and exploit vulnerabilities. He said defensive tools could be repurposed offensively, thereby bridging the traditional gap between attackers and defenders. Jayant Saran, partner, Deloitte India, described this as a “changed reality” where organizations must prepare for risks that were previously invisible. He called AI a “double-edged sword…that cannot be reversed”, highlighting the growing race between those who secure systems and those who attempt to break them.In India, the risks increase according to the scale. From UPI to banking and government platforms, millions of people depend on digital infrastructure – much of it built on legacy systems. These systems are often slow to patch, difficult to monitor, and lack continuous threat intelligence, creating what Saran calls “asymmetric risk exposure.” Singh noted that this gap is especially important in India, where legacy infrastructure serves millions of people.Beyond cybersecurity, the ripple effect could reach financial markets. Analysts say models like Mythos can automate parts of the IT services industry’s core functions – software development, testing and security. Although disruption may occur gradually, labor-intensive outsourcing models may face pressure, while companies adopting AI may benefit.
