Vaibhav Suryavanshi has again topped the race for the Orange Cap, becoming the first player to reach 400 runs in IPL 2026, underscoring his sensational form this season.Rajasthan Royals pulled off a thrilling six-wicket win over Punjab Kings thanks to an unbeaten 77-run partnership off 32 balls between Donovan Ferreira and Shubham Dubey, who chased down the target in 19.2 overs and handed PBKS their first defeat. RR’s chase was led by Vaibhav Suryavanshi (43 off 16) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (51 off 27) before Yuzvendra Chahal’s three wickets gave PBKS some momentum. However, Ferreira and Dubey performed strongly under pressure. Earlier, PBKS had scored 222/4 thanks to Marcus Stoinis’ 62 off 22* balls and Prabhsimran Singh’s 59, but their bowlers could not defend the total in the death overs.

India's fourth S400 system will arrive as Russian ship units in mid-May; Possibility of deployment in Rajasthan
An S-400 air defense system

New Delhi: Russia has shipped the fourth batch of S-400 Triumf defense systems which will “reach India by mid-May”, soon after the May 7 anniversary. Operation SindoorA defense source told TOI. The fifth S-400 system is expected to arrive in India in November. The Russian S-400 system had proven its capability to protect India’s military and civilian assets from Pakistani missiles during last year’s conflict.“Pre-dispatch inspection by IAF officers of the incoming S-400 systems was completed by April 18,” Russian state-owned news agency TASS quoted a source as saying. “The fourth Russian S-400 air defense system is coming to India and is expected to be received at the Indian port by mid-May. The new system is planned to be deployed in Rajasthan to strengthen missile defense along the Pakistan border. A fifth system will be deployed along the border with China, TASS said. While the first two batches of S400 systems were deployed along the Pakistan border, the third has been deployed in the eastern region. In 2018, India signed a deal to procure five S-400 squadrons worth $5.43 billion to strengthen its missile defence. Impressed by its highly effective role against Pakistan last year, the Defense Acquisition Council (DAC) on March 27 this year approved the acquisition of additional five Russian S-400 systems, which is likely to expand the missile shield in the country.India has also decided to purchase 280 short and long-range S-400 missiles to replenish the stockpile used during Operation Sindoor as well as to build up a long-range weapons stockpile. It is estimated that India has fired 11 long-range S-400 missiles at Pakistan, which shoot down fighter planes, early warning systems and transport aircraft. After Sindoor, India is in the process of developing a multi-layered integrated air and missile defense system ‘Sudarshan Chakra’ (India’s own Iron Dome), comprising the S-400 (long range), Barak-8 (medium range), and the indigenous Project Kusha (extended range air defense system), to create an advanced, home-grown “Iron Dome” comprehensive defense against various threats such as ballistic missiles, drones, and hypersonic weapons. India also plans to purchase Russian Pantsir-S1M short-range air defense systems to protect its S-400 Triumf batteries from small threats such as drones.

Calangute traffic cell stops operations after supply cut due to non-payment of bills

Panaji: The operations of Goa Police’s Calangute Traffic Cell have come to a standstill after the Gram Panchayat switched off the main power switch over non-payment of electricity bill of Rs 8 lakh. This cell has been working at Poriyat Football Ground in Tiwai Vaddo since 2012. The traffic cell was shifted from the Calangute police station premises on the request of the former CM. Manohar Parrikar.Traffic Cell failed to pay its electricity bill for over a decade, resulting in disconnection.Calangute sarpanch Joseph Sequeira said that SAIL has not paid a single rupee to the panchayat regarding electricity bill since 2012. He said several letters were written to the SP, DYSP and PI of Calangute traffic cell to inform them about the dues, but there was no communication from the cell. On April 2, Calangute Panchayat wrote its last letter to the SP, DYSP and PI of SAIL.In the letter, the panchayat informed them that if they failed to pay the amount within seven days, the panchayat would disconnect their electricity. “We waited for seven days, but there was no communication from the traffic cell. After waiting for about 24 days, we decided to turn off the main power switch and cut off the power supply,” Sequeira said. The Sarpanch said that the Panchayat has been regularly paying the electricity bill to the Electricity Department, but the Calangute Traffic Cell has not paid the electricity bill to the Panchayat. He also said that since there was shortage of space at the Calangute police station, the panchayat allowed the cell to be moved to the football ground.“We have been writing letters to the traffic cell and even to the chief minister to shift the Calangute traffic cell from the football ground to the Calangute police station premises as the Saligao police station has been shifted from the Calangute police station premises, but there has been no response to the letters,” Sequeira said. The Sarpanch also said that not only the electricity bill amount, but the panchayat is also diverting the dirty water generated by the police personnel in the traffic cell. “We sent sewerage tankers and removed the waste generated by police personnel, and that amount has also been borne by the panchayat,” he said.Sikera also said that in the early days, the panchayat had also provided a four-wheeler to the Calangute Traffic Cell to manage the traffic in Calangute, and the cost of fuel and maintenance was borne by the panchayat.

Quote of the Day by Mother Teresa: “I cannot change the world alone, but I can create many waves by tossing a stone in water.” | world News

Quote of the Day by Mother Teresa:
Today’s Quote by Mother Teresa (Image Source: Wikipedia)

Some quotes stick with us because they are easy to understand and have great significance. An example of this is this line mother Teresa. It talks about how small actions can make a big impact and how even the smallest effort can make a big difference. People may feel that their efforts do not matter in a world where problems seem too big to solve. This quote gently questions that idea. It reminds us that big changes don’t always happen through big actions or movements. Instead, it usually starts with one person doing something small. Just as a stone can create waves in water, one action can affect many others. The message is clear and useful for everyday life. It asks people to be kind, responsible and purposeful without waiting for the right time.

Today’s Quote by Mother Teresa

“I cannot change the world alone, but I can create many waves by throwing a stone into the water.”

What is the meaning behind this statement of Mother Teresa?

At first glance this quote seems very simple. But if we think about it carefully, we can see more clearly what it means. Mother Teresa is not saying that one person can fix everything in the world. Instead, she understands that changing the world is hard and takes a lot of hard work. But she also says that every action has a value. The picture of stones making waves in water is important. When you throw a stone in water it forms a circle which goes out. These waves continue to travel far beyond the place where the stone first hit the water. Similarly, a small act of kindness or responsibility can have an impact on other people. A good deed can inspire someone else, and that person can inspire someone else. This causes a chain reaction to occur over time. This idea helps people realize that every little thing they do matters. Even if the results aren’t immediately apparent, they may have an impact over time.

Why does this statement of Mother Teresa still matter today?

There are many problems in the world today, such as social inequality, environmental issues, and economic problems. These issues may seem too big to handle, and many people may feel that their efforts are not worth it.This is where quotes really matter. It asks people to think about what they can do, rather than what they can’t do. Every action, whether it’s helping someone in need, cutting down on waste, or just being nice to people every day, makes a big difference. In today’s world, where social media and instant communication often focus attention on larger accomplishments, small tasks may not seem as important. But this quote reminds us that real change often starts slowly and develops over time.

Life and work of Mother Teresa

Andze Gonxe Bojaxhiu, better known as Mother Teresa, spent her entire life helping the sick and the poor. He worked mostly in Kolkata, India, where he started the Missionaries of Charity. He worked with people who were often ignored by society, such as the sick, the homeless, and the dying. He made kindness and service the basis of his approach. He thought it would be appropriate to help even one person. He did not wait for the right time or enough money to start the work. Instead, he started with what he had and worked hard to improve over time. His life tells the same story as his speech. He didn’t try to change the whole world at once. Instead, he worked with one person at a time to help them. Over the years, his work grew and inspired many others to help.

Small actions and their long term impact

A main point of the quote is that small things can make a big impact over time. You can see this in many parts of life.Small acts of kindness can help people in the community trust and work together. In the workplace, small things like working together and helping each other can boost productivity and morale. You can help the environment by doing small things like saving water or spreading less garbage. These little things can add up to bigger goals for sustainability.Taken individually, these actions may not seem like much, but taken together they can have a major impact. The quote talks about the ripple effect, which is when one action affects many others and has a larger impact.

ripple effect in real life

The ripple effect is not just a saying; This happens in real life. For example, when one person helps another, that person often wants to help someone else. This starts a chain of good things happening.Similarly, a teacher’s guidance can have an impact on students, who can later contribute significantly to the society. An act of caring in health care can improve a patient’s life, which has an impact on their family and community. The assumption is that actions are interconnected. Even if the first step seems small, it can lead to results that are bigger than you can imagine.

A reminder to take responsibility

Responsibility is another important part of the quote. It motivates people to do something instead of waiting for someone else to do it. People often think that big groups or governments should solve problems. These organizations are important, but the efforts of individuals are also important.People can help find solutions by focusing on what they can do themselves. You don’t need any special skills or equipment for this. Doing simple things like helping a neighbor, supporting a cause, or being mindful of your daily habits can make a difference. The quote says that action, not just intention, initiates change.

Other famous quotes from Mother Teresa

  • “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”
  • “If you judge people, you don’t have time to love them.”
  • “If you find happiness, people may be jealous. Be happy anyway.”
  • “If you are humble nothing will touch you, neither praise nor insult, because you know what you are.”
  • “Life is an opportunity, take advantage of it. Life is beauty, appreciate it. Life is a dream, make it come true.”
  • “Don’t wait for leaders; do it alone, person by person.”
  • “I can do what you can’t, you can do what I can’t; together we can do great things.”

How can the quote be applied in daily life

This quote is easy to use in everyday life because it is so simple. There is no need for big changes or big promises. Instead, it focuses on small, useful things people can do.For example, being polite and nice when talking to someone can improve your relationship. If you help someone with a small task, it can make their day better. Choosing good environmental habits can help. The most important thing is to be consistent. When you do small things repeatedly, they become part of a larger pattern. This pattern leads to real change over time.

An eternal lesson for all generations

The meaning of this quote is not limited to any specific time or place. It is important for people of all ages and backgrounds. The idea is the same for everyone, whether they are students, professionals or community members. It helps people to deal with problems in a positive manner. People can focus on what they can do instead of feeling like they have a lot to do. This gives people a sense of purpose and involvement. This quote also makes people feel like they are connected. This shows that actions are not isolated, but part of a larger web of influence.

Last resort: the power of a simple action

What Mother Teresa said is clear and useful. Even though one person can’t change the whole world, what he does still matters. No matter how small, every effort can make a difference. The image of ripples spreading across water is a strong reminder of how the effect works. This shows that change does not happen all at once; It occurs over time through repeated actions. This quote tells people to be kind and purposeful in their daily lives. It shows that small steps can lead to big changes and everyone can help.

FIFA World Cup 2026: Major yellow card rule changes explained as new system affects every country | international sports news

FIFA World Cup 2026: Major yellow card rule changes explained as new system affects every country
Mexican referee Cesar Ramos (C) shows a yellow card to Portugal forward Cristiano Ronaldo/ Source: AFP

A rule that decides who plays and who doesn’t play in the biggest matches is set to change in the FIFA World Cup 2026, and it will apply to all 48 teams in the expanded tournament.Spanning the United States, Canada and Mexico, the competition is larger than any held before the World Cup. It is no longer a 32-team tournament that moves quickly from the group stage to a compact knockout bracket, but a 48-team tournament with more matches, more rounds and a longer path to the final. This expanded structure is the reason why FIFA is rethinking how yellow cards are taken and removed once the tournament begins.

How the 2026 Format Really Works, Step by Step

The tournament begins with the 48 teams divided into twelve groups, Group A to Group L, each consisting of four teams. Each team plays three matches in this stage, facing the other teams in its group once each. From there, qualification into the knockouts takes place at two levels. The first part is simple: the first and second placed teams advance automatically in each group, which consists of 24 teams. The second part is where this format differs from earlier World Cups. All twelve third-place teams are placed in the same table and ranked using their results, first points, then goal difference, then goals scored, and the best eight of those twelve also advance. This gives you 32 teams, this is where the knockout stage begins. This is a straight elimination bracket. The Round of 32 is effectively the first knockout round, where those 32 teams are paired and half of them are eliminated in one match. The 16 winners move on to the Round of 16, which works in the same way, reducing the field to eight teams for the quarter-finals. From there, the tournament narrows down to four teams in the semifinals, and finally two teams compete in the finals.

fifa world cup 2026

fifa world cup 2026 groups/fifa

Because of that additional round of 32, the teams that reach the final now play eight matches instead of seven, and the entire tournament stretches to 104 games. That extra match before the quarter-finals is a small structural change that has forced FIFA to rethink the way it deals with yellow cards.

What does a yellow card actually do, and what does “wipe” mean?

A yellow card is a formal warning given by the referee for foul or misconduct. A yellow card does not in itself suspend a player, but it remains on their record for the duration of the tournament. If a player accumulates two yellow cards in different matches, he is suspended for the next game. The phrase “wiping” or “wiping” yellow cards simply means that prior cautions are erased from the player’s total. Once a wipe occurs, the player effectively starts over with a clean slate, and any previous yellow cards no longer count toward the suspension. Without that reset, yellow cards will continue to stack over multiple rounds, making it easier for a player to reach that two-card limit over a longer period of matches.Must read: Everything needs to go right for Messi and Ronaldo to meet for the last time in the World Cup

what happened in the last world cup

In earlier editions of the World Cup, before 2010, yellow cards were reset after the group stage rather than the knockout round. This means that any booking made after the Round of 16 will continue for the rest of the tournament, increasing the risk of suspension in the knockout stage.Under those rules, a player who received two yellow cards in the round of 16, quarter-finals and semi-finals would face a one-match suspension, even if it meant missing the final. There was no late-stage reset to protect the players, so a single caution in the semi-final could prove decisive if it followed an earlier booking. That system has led to some of the most painful moments in World Cup history. In the 2002 tournament, Michael Ballack had already been booked in the knockout stage, receiving his first yellow card in the round of 16 against Paraguay. When he drew another caution for a tactical foul on Lee Chun-soo in Germany’s semi-final against South Korea, the automatic suspension was triggered.

Michael Ballack

Swiss referee Urs Meier (right) gives a yellow card to Germany’s Michael Ballack (left) in the World Cup semi-final match against South Korea in Seoul on 25 June 2002. Ballack will miss the World Cup final due to suspension after picking up two yellow cards. Germany won 1–0 and will play in the World Cup final on June 30.

Germany lost 2–0 to Brazil in the final and Ballack, arguably their most influential midfielder, could only watch from the sidelines. His absence became one of the defining examples of how the old system could affect the biggest match, and it later contributed to FIFA making rule changes from 2010, when yellow cards began to be sanctioned after the quarter-finals to prevent similar situations. It’s the kind of scenario the system has always risked: a player missing the biggest match because of two warnings in different rounds.

Why doesn’t the old system fit into the new format?

The expansion to 48 teams introduces an additional knockout round, meaning more matches will be played before reaching the quarter-finals. Under the old rules, a player could now pick up two yellow cards in five matches, three in the group stage, again in the Round of 32 and the Round of 16, and be suspended before the tournament even reached the final stage. FIFA’s concerns, as reported athletic And bbc sportThis means that many players will book during the competition and miss out on key knockout matches as the accumulation window has become longer.

What changes in 2026, and how it works in practice

According to reports, to deal with this, FIFA is planning to introduce a second reset point. Yellow cards will now be erased at the end of the group stage and again after the quarter-finals. In simple words, the tournament has been divided into two different blocks for disciplinary purposes. Three group-stage matches form a block. If a player is booked twice within those three games, they will be suspended, but after the group stage ends, those yellow cards will be completely cleared. The knockout rounds from the round of 32 to the quarter-finals form the second block. A player who picks up two yellow cards in that sequence will also be suspended, but those bookings will be wiped out again after the quarter-finals. This shortens the window in which yellow cards can accumulate. Bookings in the group stage no longer take a player to the knockouts, and bookings at the start of the knockout stage no longer take a player to the semi-finals.

Why does FIFA believe this is more appropriate?

The principle has not changed, two yellow cards still lead to a suspension, but the context for counting those cards has been tightened to match the longer format. Instead of penalizing a player for cautions spread across an entire tournament, the system now focuses on smaller, more immediate sequences of matches. This reduces the chances of key players missing out on decisive knockout games while maintaining a clear disciplinary line. In a tournament that has grown in size, length and complexity, it is a small rule change, but it is designed to put the biggest matches on the pitch rather than being decided by players out of caution weeks in advance.
