PBKS vs DC, IPL Play of the Day: PBKS bowling affected in Dharamshala winds, blow to playoff hopes

With the bat swinging freely in the Dharamshala breeze, the Punjab Kings bowlers were more focused on bowling the ball down the hill of the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala than testing Delhi Capitals’ shaky middle order. The Shreyas Iyer-led side faltered in their defense against struggling DC on Monday, May 11, conceding 17 runs and 1 no ball in the wides.

PBKS’s bowling unit crumbled under pressure, turning the defendable total into yet another collapse in execution in a rapidly fading campaign. Their inability to control lines, create sustained pressure or seize crucial moments highlighted the recurring lapses that have plagued Punjab throughout the season.

The 18 extra players alone reflect the chaos in their bowling plans. This included dropped chances, inconsistent lengths and PBKS once again found themselves losing control of the game, which they had held tightly to in the powerplay.

PBKS faces fourth consecutive defeat After a magical unbeaten start to the 2026 Indian Premier League season.

“I don’t want to beat around the bush. I would just say fielding and bowling,” Iyer said after the match against DC.

PBKS bowling fails to raise capital

Punjab’s bowling has been a constant area of concern throughout the season. They have taken the fewest wickets among all teams in the competition, a worrying statistic that has consistently highlighted their inability to break partnerships at crucial stages. Their problems have been made worse by poor fielding support, as PBKS also lead the charts in terms of most catches dropped this season.

Against Delhi, their lack of penetration after the powerplay hurt them. PBKS had restricted DC to 33 for 3 at the start of the chase, with the fast bowlers making little movement and making mistakes under lights. But once the ball became soft, Punjab’s attack completely lost direction.

The biggest turning point came when PBKS failed to capitalize after the run out of Tristan Stubbs. When Delhi was 74 for 4, Axar Patel got a lease of life on 25 when Arshdeep Singh missed a regulation chance. Punjab have consistently suffered from their inability to convert half-chances into wickets this season and these lapses have proved equally damaging.

Before this match, Akshar had been able to score only 44 runs in the entire season on 59 balls at a strike rate of 74.57. Yet PBKS allowed them to settle through loose lines and poor execution in the middle overs. Once they found the rhythm against the fast bowlers, the target completely tilted in favor of Delhi.

Axar recorded his first fifty-plus score of the season and set the stage for Delhi to complete the most successful target chase in the history of the HPCA Stadium.

Even after Akshar’s departure, PBKS failed to regain control. Marco Jansen’s 16th over became the defining moment of the chase as David Miller dismantled Punjab’s death bowling with ease. Miller scored 15 runs in the over and in the next over he dismissed Ben Dwarshuis with consecutive sixes. At the time of his death the contradictions between the two parties were deep. Miller increased the troubles for PBKS by adding 51 runs in just 28 balls.

What should have been a tense finish soon became a comfortable chase as PBKS failed to generate even a brief pressure in the final overs.

“I always say that hard length, short of hard length is the best ball, especially when a new batsman is coming in,” Iyer said. “It is not easy to hit because if you keep repeating those balls there are chances of getting a wrong hit and you may get a wicket. We lack planning.”

spin could have helped

There will also be questions on Punjab’s bowling strategy. PBKS bowled seven overs collectively to Marcus Stoinis and Yash Thakur, who scored 99 runs for just three wickets despite Yuzvendra Chahal being available.

On why he did not utilize Yuzi’s services, Shreyas said, “There was definitely an idea. But the way the ball was seaming for the seamers, if we had executed our plans accurately, we could have got wickets.”

to be fair, Delhi Capitals adopted a similar template. He also left out frontline spinner Kuldeep Yadav and relied almost entirely on pace. In fact, DC captain Akshar Patel also did not bowl.

Akshar said after the game, “The wicket was behaving differently today. After the first few overs, especially when Auqib Nabi bowled, I felt the ball was swinging and seaming as well.” “Even when I gave extra overs to Madhav and Auqib, something was happening with the ball. So, I thought if the fast bowlers were getting help, I should continue using them instead of bringing myself forward.”

The game saw 39 overs of seam bowling, the second highest total IPL The history following Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Chennai Super Kings in 2008, underlines how strongly both teams understand the conditions.

However, the main difference was the execution. Delhi’s fast bowlers adjusted quickly, tightened their lengths and eventually forced Punjab into constant risks. PBKS, on the other hand, despite seeing similar assistance from the ball early on, gradually lost discipline as the innings progressed.

For Punjab, this was not a mere defeat due to missed opportunities. It was another reminder that their bowling unit continues to crumble under pressure. In Dharamshala,

PBKS didn’t just lose one game, their bowling failures pushed them further down in the play-off race.

NBA trade rumors: Steve Kerr’s next roster move could include Bucks star close to $275 million payday to pair with Stephen Curry | nba news

NBA Trade Rumors: Steve Kerr's next roster move could include the Bucks star getting close to a $275 million payday to pair with Stephen Curry.

giannis antetokounmpoHis future with the Milwaukee Bucks is suddenly looking a lot less certain, and across the league, front offices are already preparing for one of the most important trade hauls in years. Milwaukee has quietly opened the door to trade discussions involving the two-time MVP ahead of the NBA Draft, making several suitors, including the Golden State Warriors, cautious.Steve Kerr recently signed a 2-year deal with Golden State. The Warriors are already in offseason mode after an early exit from the playoffs, while several other teams linked to Giannis are still alive in the postseason. This gives Golden State a rare advantage. They can focus solely on roster building while the rest of the market remains distracted by playoff basketball.

Milwaukee Bucks are open to Giannis Antetokounmpo trade

The Bucks are no longer hiding from the reality surrounding their franchise star. Team executives have reportedly begun trade talks as pressure increases ahead of the June draft. Co-owner Jimmy Haslam made the situation even clearer when he admitted that a major decision was coming soon.“In the next six or seven weeks we’ll decide whether Giannis will sign a max contract and stay with us or whether he’s going to play somewhere else.” Shams Charania has confirmed that the Bucks are now open to a Giannis Antetokounmpo trade.Milwaukee’s disappointing 32–50 season put the organization in a difficult position. Injuries, internal frustration and another early collapse changed the atmosphere of the franchise. Antetokounmpo, who led the Bucks to the 2021 championship, is now eligible for a four-year, $275 million extension later this year. But league insiders believe both sides are seriously evaluating whether it’s finally time to move on.The Bucks still value him at the highest level possible. Rival teams expect Milwaukee to demand elite young talent, multiple draft picks or both in any potential deal.

Will Steve Kerr’s Warriors pursue Giannis Antetokounmpo to pair up? Stephen Curry?

Golden State has been linked to Antetokounmpo since the trade deadline, and the fit remains clear. Giannis paired with Stephen Curry would immediately become one of the most dangerous duos in the NBA.The challenge is convincing Milwaukee that the Warriors can offer enough.Unlike teams like the New York Knicks or Minnesota Timberwolves, Golden State doesn’t have any blue-chip young superstars ready to headline talks. Still, executives around the league believe the Warriors remain firmly in the conversation due to Curry’s presence, Kerr’s system and Antetokounmpo’s potential interest in competing for another championship in the Bay Area.

What will the Warriors’ package look like?

Any realistic offer from the Warriors for salary purposes will almost certainly start with Jimmy Butler. From there, Golden State can add young pieces like Brandin Podziemski, Gui Santos, the No. 11 draft pick and a future first-round selection.Whether this package will outperform rival proposals remains uncertain. But the Warriors know exactly where they stand in the offseason, and that clarity could help them moving forward offensively if Milwaukee fully commits to trade talks.Meanwhile, the Bucks continue to balance the two paths simultaneously. They’re exploring blockbuster scenarios while leaving room for one final effort to convince Giannis to stay.

Two more passengers evacuated from cruise ship under Hantavirus testing

The Hague: Countries around the world on Monday brought back and quarantined or quarantined passengers from a cruise ship hit by a deadly hantavirus outbreak, including a French woman and an American who tested positive. After the MV Hondius docked in the Canary Islands on Sunday, passengers from the ship began flying home aboard military and government planes. Crews wearing full-body protective gear and breathing masks evacuated passengers from the ship to shore in Tenerife, an effort that continued on Monday.Three cruise ship passengers have died, and at least six hantavirus cases have been confirmed, according to WHO. WHO spokeswoman Sarah Tyler said Monday that laboratory results of the American who tested positive were inconclusive. Health officials say the risk to the broader public from the first outbreak of hantavirus on a cruise ship is low. Although there is no cure or vaccine for hantavirus, the WHO says early detection and treatment improves survival rates. The ship’s captain, Jan Dobrogowski, released a video message on Monday praising the perseverance of the passengers and crew and calling for their privacy to be respected.French Health Minister Stephanie Rist said on Monday that the French woman tested positive for hantavirus and her condition deteriorated in hospital overnight. The woman was one of five French passengers brought back on Sunday. Rist told public broadcaster France-Inter that he developed symptoms on a flight to Paris.U.S. health officials said late Sunday that one of the 18 passengers evacuated from the plane and flown to Nebraska also tested positive for hantavirus but is showing no symptoms, and another had mild symptoms. After landing in Nebraska early Monday, the American passengers were being taken to the University of Nebraska Medical Center, which has a federally funded quarantine facility. Once there, they are being evaluated to determine whether they have been in close contact with any symptomatic people and what their risk level is for spreading the virus.Planes arriving in Tenerife were to carry passengers from more than 20 countries in the evacuation effort which was due to end on Monday. There were 54 passengers and crew left on the ship on Monday, of whom 22 were expected to disembark, while the remaining 32 would remain on the ship upon its return to the Netherlands.

Valpoi CHC doctor suspended on charges of medical negligence

Panaji/Valpoi: The Public Health Department has suspended the services of Dr Yavanti Gawde, Medical Officer, Community Health Centre, Valpoi, with immediate effect in connection with a case of medical negligence where an 11-year-old boy’s leg was amputated. The suspension order was issued on the basis of preliminary observations of the internal committee which indicated medical negligence by the doctor. The boy was brought to the accident department of the health center at 3.30 pm on April 27 with a complaint of fall and injury to his left leg.Gawde, the medical officer on duty, examined him and advised X-ray of the left leg and this revealed a non-displaced closed fracture of the left fibula.Plaster slab placement was advised as part of the initial management, and the slab was applied by Suresh, a multi tasking staff member who was assisting orthopedic residents appointed from the GMC and acting in the capacity of orthopedic assistant. On April 28 at 6.15 pm, the patient was again brought to the emergency department of the health center with complaints of fever, vomiting and drowsiness and was examined and immediately referred to GMC.At the GMC, it was revealed that the boy had swollen toes and the affected limb had to be amputated due to gangrene. The internal committee, after detailed discussion and review of records, found that the plaster slab procedure was performed by the supporting staff without adequate direct supervision and documented reassessment by the treating medical officer and that immediate orthopedic consultation/referral could have been considered at an early stage, keeping in mind the age of the patient and the fracture-related risks. The Public Health Department order said, “…the Government has decided to suspend indefinitely the services of Dr. Yavanti Gawde, Medical Officer, Community Health Centre, Valpoi, with immediate effect, pending the completion of a detailed investigation of the matter by a committee of experts. She will not be entitled to any remuneration and allowances during the said period.”

Hassanabi loses temper on Twitch after “white baby” comment sparks heated debate

Hassanabi sparked major online debate after angrily responding to a Twitch viewer who called her a “white kid” during a discussion about anti-DEI movements and racism. The political streamer defended his comments by emphasizing his experiences as a Muslim American who faced discrimination and rejected claims that he was anti-Asian. Clips of the livestream quickly spread online, with viewers divided over whether Hassan’s emotional reaction was appropriate or an overreaction to a joke.

Hassanabi found herself at the center of another heated livestream controversy after reacting angrily to a viewer calling her a “white kid” during a political discussion on Twitch. The moment quickly spread across social media, with clips of the streamer’s emotional reaction sparking heated debate between supporters and critics. What started off as a conversation about anti-DEI movements and racial politics soon turned into a broader argument about rising tensions over identity, online discourse, and political commentary on streaming platforms. The viral exchange occurred when Hasan Pickler discussed comments related to San Francisco Board of Supervisors member Connie Chan. As the political streamer criticized what he described as white supremacist attacks on diversity initiatives, one viewer jokingly called him a “white kid.” Hassan immediately backtracked and began an impassioned statement about racism, discrimination and personally experiencing anti-Muslim hate online.

Hassanabi gets furious after viewers call him “white baby” on Twitch

During the stream, Hasnabi read part of an online comment that accused him of unfairly targeting Connie Chan over a political disagreement. Responding to the criticism, he argued that anti-DEI campaigns in the United States are connected to larger systems of racial inequality and white supremacy. The discussion took a turn for the worse when a viewer on the chat wrote: “Sometimes you can’t talk like that, white baby.”Hassan reacted immediately and emotionally. “First of all, suck my… …, okay? I’m a devout Muslim American who gets called a… terrorist every day, okay? Are we having a racism Olympics? Are we talking about what kind of racism is institutionally justified? What do you think? Who do you think gets more… …-food on a daily basis?”The clip quickly circulated online, with some viewers defending Hassan’s desperation while others criticized the intensity of his reaction in what was later described as a joke.

Hasnabi defends anti-DEI comments amid backlash

As the conversation continued, Hasan attempted to clarify what he meant during the political discussion. He stressed that his criticism was aimed at the systems associated with white supremacy rather than at Asian Americans themselves.“I’m attacking the concept of tokens being spent in the service of white supremacy. You can’t say ‘white baby’ like that. That’s ridiculous,” he explained. After the viewer made it clear that the message was intended to be humorous, Hassan accepted it but admitted that the situation reflected the deep frustration he felt online. “I know, it’s very frustrating. This idea that I’m some anti-Asian reactionary because I’m saying that the anti-DEI movement, which is really hurting Asian Americans right now, was also, in some ways, deployed by using Asian faces for white supremacy. He later ended the discussion with a clear summary of his stance. “You know what I think… over? I think white supremacy… is over. I think anti-DEI initiatives are… over. I think racism… is over. And if you’re going to be a willing participant in white supremacist movements, I’m going… over you.”As expected, the exchange has now become another viral flashpoint in the increasingly chaotic world of livestream political commentary.

Show us even one project which has not been opposed by environmentalists, green lobby: Supreme Court

New Delhi: Refusing to entertain a plea against expansion of Pipavav port in Gujarat due to irregularities in environment clearance, the Supreme Court on Monday bluntly said – “Show us even one project where these environmentalists have said we welcome it”, while also emphasizing that the country cannot develop without infrastructure.Senior advocate Anita Shenoy, appearing for environmentalist Chetan Kumar Navintray Vyas, strongly argued that the project was stalled for over a decade and environmental clearance was given without considering the adverse impact on marine mammals, Olive Ridley turtles, avian species and mangroves.

‘You want to stop everything in the name of environment’

A bench of CJI Surya Kant and Justice Joymalaya Bagchi said that the Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) report has found the apprehensions to be baseless. National Green Tribunal It has since given a considered opinion to give the green signal to the port expansion. When Shenoy continued to emphasize that the NGT did not consider several shortcomings in the EIA report, the bench said port development activities are essential for the development of the country. It asked, “You want to stop everything in the name of environment. How can the country develop without infrastructure? There is no doubt that precautionary measures are necessary. But tell us where the depth of the sea allows big ports like in Gujarat.”The bench asked, “Where else can such ports be established? Do you want port-related economic activities to go to other countries?” Refusing to entertain the appeal against the NGT order, it allowed the environmentalist to again approach the Western Region NGT in Pune pointing out that his objections to the project had not been considered. The lawyer said that 90% of the fish landed off the Saurashtra coast is in the Pipavav port area and this expansion would be the death knell for fishermen and economic activities related to fish business in the area. The bench said that economic activity is not considered while preparing the EIA report. “Your basic objection was that it would cause disturbance to the turtle nesting area. The Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) has not found your claim to be correct. Their inspection report says so,” the bench said. The tribunal, in its November 26 order, had referred to the EIA report of the project, which had said that detailed studies on plant diversity, marine ecology and biodiversity, including avian biodiversity impact studies, showed no significant adverse impacts. The study also describes the port area as a haven for bird diversity.

Favoring only Indian-origin candidates: Chinese-American professor files suit at Texas University, accuses Hemang Desai of bias

A Chinese-American professor has sued a Texas university for mentioning the name of Dr Hemang Desai only for favoring Indians while awarding tenure.

Dr. Hsien Wang, a Chinese-American assistant professor, has sued Texas Southern Methodist University over discrimination and favoring only Indians. The lawsuit was filed last year but came to light now after being reported by freelance journalist Chris Brunet. In the lawsuit, Wang alleged that there is a systemic problem of discrimination at the university that resulted in him being denied tenure in 2024, while three Indian professors were given the same salary in the accounting department.According to the lawsuit, the university told Wang he was not a good fit and that he needed more citations and more visibility. The lawsuit says he was called a “bad fit” at least 13 times, but an Indian colleague, Saurabh Thomar, received a positive mid-career evaluation from the department chair, who is also an Indian. The lawsuit names Chairman Dr. Hemang Desai, saying that Wang was informed by Desai on November 19, 2024, that a negative departmental vote (3-1) had taken place, in which all three Indian faculty members voted against his tenure, citing failure to achieve outstanding performance, while the sole non-Indian faculty member voted in favor.Wang said that from the beginning, Desai treated him differently and had higher expectations from him than his Indian colleagues.“Since at least 2006, when Hemang Desai (Indian origin) became a full professor at SMU’s Cox School of Business, there has been a systematic pattern of discrimination in tenure decisions in the accounting department. Of the Indian-origin candidates who met the stated productivity standard of at least four of SMU’s top-tier publications, 100% (2 of 2) had tenure: Neil Bhattacharya in 2008 and Neil Bhattacharya in 2020. Gauri Bhatt. Of the non-Indian-origin candidates (Caucasian and Chinese) who meet the stated productivity standard of at least four of SMU’s top tier publications, SMU has not endorsed any non-Indian candidates for tenure, including Mina Pizzini, Chris Hogan, Jing Pan, Jeff Yu, and others.Dr. Wang. “This pattern is consistent with an ancestry-based preference for Indian-origin candidates and a dislike for non-Indian candidates,” the lawsuit says.

‘Indian faculty get head offices with good ideas’

The lawsuit claims that when offices were reassigned to the department’s new building in the spring of 2024, Indian faculty were given prime offices with good views, while East Asian faculty members were assigned to a “Chinese ghetto” down the hall. The university, while filing its response, denied all the allegations and said that Dr Wang is not entitled to any relief.

Jamie Overton opens up on CSK comeback and bowling role

Asked to bat first by Delhi Capitals, Priyansh Arya hit six sixes during his blistering 56 off 33 balls before the DC pacers smartly adjusted their lengths to restrict Punjab Kings to 210/5.In reply, aggressive half-centuries from David Miller (51 off 28) and captain Akshar Patel (56 off 30) took Delhi Capitals to 211/7 in 19 overs – the highest successful chase at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium. After the match, Iyer said, “I won’t go into (where it went wrong); I would just say fielding and bowling again.”“(If they thought 210 was a good score) absolutely, I think 30 runs was more on this wicket, given the way the ball was seaming and the different bounce,” he said.“(On bowling to Chahal) I absolutely had a thought in my mind, but the way the ball was seaming and the way the seamers were getting help, I think if we had executed our line and length accurately, we would have been able to take wickets, but unfortunately again, we were not able to do that,” Iyer said.Explaining the ideal bowling strategy on the Dharamshala pitch, the PBKS captain said:“(How to bowl here) is still on the surface. I always say that hard length – shorter than hard length – is the best ball, especially when a new batsman is coming in. It is not easy to hit it because if you keep repeating those balls, at least one ball has a chance to be mis-hit and you can get a wicket. We have been short on planning,” Iyer said. The win helped Delhi Capitals reach seventh place in the IPL 2026 standings. DC have now played 12 matches, winning five and losing seven, with 10 points and a net run rate of -0.993.Despite the loss, Punjab Kings are fourth in the table with 13 points from 11 matches with six wins and four losses, while one match ended without a result. His net run rate is +0.428.Punjab Kings’ next match will be against Mumbai Indians on May 14.
