SC cancels Sengar’s bail, asks HC for fresh hearing

SC cancels Sengar's bail, asks HC for fresh hearing

New Delhi: The Supreme Court rejected it on Friday Delhi High Court The order suspended the jail sentence and granted bail to former BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, convicted of raping a minor in Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao, and asked the high court to hear the politician’s bail plea afresh pending his appeal against conviction.Sengar’s counsel, senior advocate N Hariharan, told a bench of CJI Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi that his client had already spent 10 years behind bars and to refute the prosecution’s claim that she was a minor, several medical reports had estimated the age of the alleged rape victim to be more than 18 years. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the CBI, which has appealed against the high court’s bail, said the MLA was a public servant and was in a “prominent position” to be rightly convicted by the trial court for a serious form of sexual assault under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.He said that since the sentence was till the end of his biological life, the High Court could not suspend the sentence. The bench said that since both Hariharan and Mehta were arguing that the High Court had not considered certain aspects of the case against Sengar before suspending the sentence, it would be better if the High Court hears the arguments of the accused and the prosecution afresh before deciding on the plea for suspending the sentence during the pendency of his appeal against conviction. The Supreme Court, which had on December 29 last year stayed the HC’s December 23 order, made it clear that the HC should decide on the bail plea without being influenced by any SC order in the matter. It said the HC will try to decide on the bail plea before the summer vacations.

Oh Deer! Wild muntjac rescued after getting stuck on M&S escalator: Here’s what happened

Oh Deer! Wild muntjac rescued after getting stuck on M&S escalator: Here's what happened

Imagine you’re heading inside a shop for some quick shopping and are surprised to see a deer in Marks & Spencer: a wild muntjac trapped on an escalator, staring out at the chaos of modern shopping.Hard to imagine, we know – but it happened anyway! This happened in England. The little deer wandered into the shopping center, seemed lost, and got stuck on the moving stairs. Emergency responders and animal rescue teams attended, along with a crowd of stunned customers. Despite all the commotion (and what may have been the worst retail adventure of the deer’s life), rescuers managed to safely free the animal. No doubt a great day with social media. People joked that the deer was just looking for Percy Pigs, or perhaps keeping an eye on food deals. And behind that laugh, however, is a real worrying trend: As cities expand and green habitats shrink, wildlife is moving into human spaces.

What actually happened?

According to eyewitnesses, it happened during store hours, and the deer simply wandered off, climbed the escalator (a move that even humans sometimes regret), and got trapped, Sky News reports. As soon as people came to know that there was a live deer inside, panic spread.Store employees stopped the escalator and called rescue teams. Photos online show responders carefully covering the animal with blankets and working to tranquilize it, using specialized equipment to prevent injury. Some people said that the deer was completely exhausted and startled by the noise.Eventually, rescue teams were successful: the deer was taken out and examined by veterinarians, who later said there were only minor injuries.

What is muntjac?

Now, many people outside the UK are probably wondering what is a muntjac? For those unaware, muntjacs are small Asian deer, originally from China and Southeast Asia. Introduced to Britain in the 20th century, they escaped from estates and now roam much of England and parts of Wales. Think medium-sized dog, with short legs, a rounded back and unique markings on the face. When frightened, muntjacs bark loudly, literally like dogs.Muntjacs are quite well adapted to woodlands, parks, gardens and suburbs. Therefore they have started appearing on roads, residences and even near shops. Encounters between humans and muntjacs are becoming more common. But escalator incidents? No, they are rare.

phrases and real concerns

Animal welfare groups explain how urban spaces can be dangerous for deer. They become disoriented by noisy streets, mirrors, and crowds and may hurt themselves trying to escape. That’s why rescue teams focus on calming the animal and keeping the public away from crowds. This time the teams performed brilliantly. And sure enough, online, the story sparked a wave of puns. “Extremely unfortunate,” “Stuck between the floor and the creatures,” “Wanted to see what M&S Food is about,” “Some light retail therapy” – people couldn’t resist. However, beyond all this humor, experts say such incidents highlight a larger issue. As cities grow and green spaces shrink, animals are changing their daily routines. Foxes roam London, wild boars appear in suburbs across Europe, coyotes appear in North American cities, and monkeys raid Asian markets. And now, apparently, the deer try the escalator.Ecologists think we will continue to see wildlife adapt. Some are calling for better urban planning and protected greenways, so animals are not stranded in malls. However, for those shopping at M&S that day will remain etched in their memories for reasons that have nothing to do with biology. After all, most people go to the supermarket expecting long lines or overpriced sandwiches, not a deer stuck on an escalator!

Candace Owens’ reaction comes after Charlie Kirk allegedly named wife Erica as TPUSA successor before murder

"Erica wanted her position":Candace Owens reacts after Charlie Kirk allegedly named wife Erica as TPUSA successor before murder
Candace Owens has questioned claims that Charlie Kirk chose wife Erica Kirk as his successor at Turning Point USA before his murder. Owens cast doubt on the authenticity of an audio recording allegedly captured during a private Aspen donor retreat and demanded the release of the full video footage. TPUSA has refused, citing donor privacy concerns, leading to further debate and controversy online.

The future of Turning Point USA has become the center of a fresh political storm, months after the founder’s death. charlie kirk. New reports surrounding a private donor retreat in Aspen are now fueling online debate, questions of leadership and tension involving conservative commentator Candace Owens. At the center of the controversy is an alleged conversation from 2025 in which Kirk allegedly revealed who he would want to lead Turning Point USA if something ever happened to him. The resurfaced claims have sparked strong reaction online as the recording has never been publicly released.

Charlie Kirk reportedly named wife Erica as TPUSA successor before his death

According to reports reviewed by the Daily Mail, Kirk responded to a question about succession planning during a private donor retreat in Aspen, Colorado, just months before his murder in September 2025.Kirk reportedly responded, “What a great question,” before outlining his vision for the future leadership of the organization.During the meeting he reportedly said, “If anything happens to me I’m appointing my wife to run Turning Point USA. Erica will do a great job.”The comments attracted major attention after Charlie Kirk’s death came just days after TPUSA’s board voted unanimously to appoint Erica Kirk as CEO.Several donors reportedly told the Daily Mail that they remembered the conversation clearly. One board member claimed that the leadership transition plan was already widely understood internally.“The board already knew what the plan was because they had talked about it with Charlie, everyone knew,” the source reportedly told. The revived claims have intensified discussion about the future direction of TPUSA, especially as the organization navigates one of the most emotional chapters in its history.

Candace Owens questions Charlie Kirk audio as TPUSA refuses to release it

While some conservatives readily accepted the succession story, Candace Owens openly challenged the authenticity of the recording played during AmericaFest.“The more I listen to it, the more it sounds like AI,” Owens said on his podcast.Owens later increased pressure on TPUSA by demanding the organization publicly release the full Aspen Retreat footage.Owens wrote on X, “Why wouldn’t they release the video? Sure, if they captured the audio they have the video.”“The claim is that at an Aspen retreat a few weeks before his death, Charlie responded to a donor who asked ‘what would happen if you died’ to which he replied that he wanted Erica to take over. I would like to see the video of that.”Owens later said: “Absolutely. It would certainly help a lot to dispel the narrative that Erica wanted her position for herself. Releasing the footage seems like an easy PR win.”However, TPUSA has refused to release the video publicly. Representatives of the organization reportedly argued that donor privacy policies prevent them from sharing recordings from private investor gatherings. As the political and online controversy continues, unresolved questions surrounding the recording are further exacerbating the already emotional debate.

Supreme Court said, stay away from Aravalli till we decide its definition

Supreme Court said, stay away from Aravalli till we decide its definition

New Delhi: Five months after putting on hold its decision accepting the controversial 100-metre-height definition for the Aravalli hills, Supreme Court Said on Friday that not even an inch of the Aravalis will be allowed to be used for mining until an expert committee constituted by the apex court redefines the Aravali hills and ranges. After lawyers appearing for mining lease holders and those seeking to obtain mining leases said the process of renewal and grant of leases could be carried forward without finalizing them, a bench of CJI Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi said, “We will not pass any order to allow resumption of mining activities in Aravali.”The CJI said, “We will not allow even an inch of Aravali to be used for any purpose unless we are satisfied with the new definition that will be proposed by the expert committee to be constituted by us, which will take into account the names suggested by the amicus curiae, the Supreme Court, the Central government and the parties.”CJI Kant, who hails from Haryana and is aware of the detrimental impact of decades of illegal mining on the environment and ecology of the Aravalis, considered the green lungs of north-western India, said, “The entire problem has arisen because of the powerful mining lobby. We are very clear in our minds that no activity will be allowed without getting the report and satisfying us about the protective umbrella that will be put in place.”On December 29 last year, a bench led by CJI Kant had taken suo motu cognizance of the deep concern expressed by environmentalists over the November 20 judgment of the Supreme Court accepting the definition of 100 meter height for the Aravalli hills. It had ordered a halt to all mining activities and renewal or new mining leases in the Aravalli region.Keeping the implementation of the Supreme Court’s November 20 judgment indefinitely stayed, the bench had said in its order, “This stay will remain in effect until the present proceedings reach a logical final stage, ensuring that no irreversible administrative or ecological action will be taken on the basis of the existing framework.”The CJI-led bench had proposed to constitute a committee of domain experts for a “thorough, holistic and scientific” examination for a comprehensive definition to protect the “structural and ecological” integrity of the Aravalli hills and ranges.Amicus curiae and senior advocate Parameshwara informed the court that in consultation with the government, a list of domain experts has been submitted to the court. The bench said it will list the matter for constituting a committee soon after hearing the parties.

Lil TJ lashes out after revealing private messages involving Kai Sennett’s ex-girlfriend

Lil TJ lashes out after revealing private messages involving Kai Sennett's ex-girlfriend
Lil TJ reacted online after briefly posting and deleting screenshots of private messages allegedly involving Kai Sennett’s ex-girlfriend, Gigi Aaliyah. Fans criticized the rapper for exposing personal conversations, while others defended his actions amid the ongoing tension with the Senate. The streamer has not responded publicly, and the controversy has already reignited debates about stalking, celebrity privacy and social media drama in entertainment culture.

The latest online drama involving Lil Tjay and Kai Sennett has once again blurred the line between entertainment and personal privacy. What started as subtle tension between the two internet personalities quickly escalated after Lil TJ posted screenshots of private messages involving Cena’s ex-girlfriend, Gigi Aaliyah.Although the posts disappeared within a few hours, the Internet had already taken over everything. Screenshots spread rapidly in X and InstagramA heated debate broke out among fans over whether the rapper had crossed a line or added another chapter to an already public feud.

Lil TJ gets backlash after sharing Kai Senate-related message

The controversy began when Lil TJ uploaded screenshots of direct messages allegedly belonging to Gigi Aaliyah. Some of the conversations reportedly date back several years, while one message from May 12 read, “Don’t open my bullshit you idiot.”The removed upload immediately sparked heavy criticism online. Many fans accused the rapper of unnecessarily dragging private conversations into public view, especially since Kai Sennett recently stepped away from livestreaming following news of their breakup.Reactions on social media were sharply divided. Some users called the move immature and attention-seeking, while others defended Lil Tjay’s right to share conversations related to the ongoing public tension. The situation became even more serious because Rappler and Cenat had previously interacted indirectly. Even though neither party pursued the issue publicly immediately afterward, online communities immediately turned the incident into another major celebrity internet debate.Additionally, observers noted that Lil Taj has been surrounded by controversy in recent months. Along with releasing new music and making talk-show appearances, the rapper has also been linked to public controversies involving other artists, including Real Boston Richie.

Kai Senat remains silent as Lil Taj controversy sparks speculation

While Lil TJ controlled the online conversation for a while, Kai Sennett decided not to respond publicly. The streamer has recently focused more on her fashion brand and business ventures after reducing some of her livestream activity. That silence fueled more speculation on social media. Some fans believed that the Senate deliberately avoided giving the controversy additional attention, while others argued that the lack of response caused the situation to fade faster than expected.A growing number of users also questioned whether Lil Tjay’s actions were partially designed to generate momentum for his recent projects. His latest release, “They Just Ain’t You”, received moderate streaming attention, leading some critics to accuse the rapper of creating drama to stay trending.Meanwhile, old tensions involving Offset also resurfaced following reports regarding Lil Tjay’s past financial disputes and feuds within the rap scene. At present the public feud seems to be cooling down. Still, the incident once again highlighted how quickly personal relationships, celebrity breakups, and online clout can collide in today’s entertainment world.

BJP protested outside Omar’s residence regarding liquor ban in Kashmir.

BJP protested outside Omar's residence regarding liquor ban in Kashmir.

Srinagar: The BJP on Friday protested outside the residence of Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah demanding a ban on liquor in the Kashmir Valley. The party said that if the National Conference government failed to act, it would launch a second phase of protests in the near future from Qazigund town in South Kashmir to Karnah area on the Line of Control in North Kashmir.BJP’s Altaf Thakur told reporters outside the CM residence, “BJP is against all types of drugs and alcohol. The NC government wants to push the youth of Jammu and Kashmir towards alcohol.” He said, “The way NC officials are making statements in support of sale and consumption of liquor is not acceptable. Kashmir is the land of sages and we will not allow liquor shops in this land.”BJP general secretary Anwar Khan, who participated in the protest, said that if the CM and NC President Farooq Abdullah are concerned about the revenue generated from liquor sales, BJP workers will sit outside mosques and beg for money for the ruling party, but will not allow anyone to play with the future of the youth. Many BJP workers also questioned LG Manoj Sinha’s 100-day campaign against drug addiction and wondered why the sale of liquor was not included in it.However, the police took prompt action against the protesters and pushed them away from the CM residence.BJP spokesperson Sajid Yusuf Shah said at least 10 protesters, including him, were detained by police but released after an hour.On Sunday, CM Abdullah had rejected the call for prohibition in Jammu and Kashmir, rejecting the opposition People’s Democratic Party’s argument that allowing the sale of liquor amounts to encouraging alcohol consumption. After him, Farooq said that his father Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah had refused to impose such a ban in 1977 because it would have generated substantial revenue for the UT (which was a state at that time). He had said, “Even today, if the Government of India compensates us (for revenue loss), I am sure the (Jammu and Kashmir) government will ban liquor.”While Farooq claimed that he does not drink alcohol, he said that banning liquor in Jammu and Kashmir would not stop liquor smugglers from smuggling it from outside.LG Manoj Sinha had launched a 100-day campaign against drugs on April 11, following which demands were raised from various sectors that it should be extended to the sale of liquor.Meanwhile, NC spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar said it was the PDP-BJP government that had implemented an excise policy mandating liquor shops in “unserved and under-served areas” in 2017.

Bangladesh officers undergoing training in Pak as Dhaka moves from Mussoorie to Lahore

For many years, the Indian hill station of Mussoorie served as a mid-career training school for Bangladeshi civil servants, a symbol of close and stable relations between the two neighbours. But due to strain in relations, expired agreements and visa hurdles, Dhaka has replaced Mussoorie with Lahore.Twelve Bangladeshi bureaucrats are undergoing training (4-21 May) at the Civil Services Academy in Lahore – the first such structured program between Bangladesh and Pakistan to strengthen cooperation in a range of sectors since Sheikh Hasina stepped down as Prime Minister. However, many in Dhaka believe the situation may be changing, with officials visiting both India and Pakistan for training programmes, as Dhaka and New Delhi look to re-establish their ties.Until 2024, Bangladeshi officers traveled to the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussoorie for training. The arrangement began under the Hasina government in 2014 through a memorandum of understanding between Bangladesh’s Ministry of Public Administration and the Delhi-based National Center for Good Governance, ministry officials said.He said the second MoU was signed on February 9, 2019 and the third on April 30, 2024 in Dhaka. Apart from Bangladesh, officials from countries like Maldives, Myanmar, Cambodia, Gambia, Sri Lanka, Tanzania and Kenya have also participated in CBP.Bangladesh ministry officials said one additional secretary and 11 joint secretaries are undergoing training. I would not advise my children to live or study in America

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz: I would not advise my children to live or study in America

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said Friday he would advise his children against living or studying in the United States at this time, citing a rapidly changing social climate and limited opportunities even for the highly educated. The comments highlight tensions between the US and its European allies under President Donald Trump, as disputes over trade, the war in Ukraine and now Iran have put the NATO alliance under strain. Merz said last month that America was being humiliated in the Iran war, which angered Trump. A few days later, Washington announced a partial troop withdrawal from Germany.Speaking to a youth audience at a Catholic conference in Wurzburg, Merz said people are prone to thinking in “disaster mode” about the state of the world and urged Germans to feel more optimistic about their country’s potential.“I firmly believe that there are few countries in the world that offer as great opportunities as Germany, especially for young people,” he said.“I would not recommend that my children today go to America, get their education there and work there, because a social environment has suddenly developed there,” said Merz, a 70-year-old father of three.“Today, even the most educated people in America have great difficulty finding a job.”
