New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday conducted searches at a dozen locations in four states in connection with the alleged smuggling of arms, ammunition and IEDs into the country from across the India-Pakistan border as part of a conspiracy to carry out terrorist attacks in Punjab, Delhi and other parts of India. The searches included four places in UP, two each in Rajasthan and Bihar and three in Maharashtra. An NIA spokesperson said that during the coordinated operation by the NIA teams, several digital devices were seized which will be forensically analyzed to unravel the entire terror conspiracy in the case. A case was registered by the Special Operations Cell of Punjab Police in Amritsar in February this year after the arrest of a man after he was found with IEDs packed in a metal box along with a remote control set, a mobile handset, a foreign-made .30 bore pistol with magazine and 20 live cartridges. Various sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS), Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Arms Act, Explosive Substances Act and NDPS Act were invoked in the FIR. After taking over the investigation, NIA found that the purpose of cross-border smuggling was to carry out IED blasts at various places in Punjab, Delhi and other parts of India to cause widespread damage to life and property and disrupt the peace and stability of the country. Investigation further revealed that the arrested accused was in contact with several people in different parts of the country to carry out terrorism, arson and other violent activities. The NIA said efforts are on to identify other Indian and international elements involved in the conspiracy.

Trump and John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts” from official materials.In a 94-page opinion, Cooper concluded that the Kennedy Center board “overstepped its statutory limits” by unilaterally adding Trump’s name to the institution. The judge said the law establishing the center made it “clear” that it was to be named after former President John F. Kennedy and that no other formal name or public memorial could be placed based solely on the board’s decision.Cooper wrote, “Congress gave the Kennedy Center its name, and only Congress can change it.” They permanently barred the institute from displaying, installing, or maintaining physical or digital signage that would indicate it is named after anyone other than Kennedy.Cooper further ruled that the board’s March 16 vote to close the center for long-term renovation “appeared to be ill-informed and premeditated”, finding no evidence that the trustees had adequately considered how the institution would continue to meet its statutory obligations during a long-term closure. While allowing the renovation work to proceed, the judge said that any future closures would have to take into account the full legislative mandate of the Kennedy Center.This follows a decision by the Kennedy Center’s Board of Trustees to rename the venue the “Donald J. Trump and John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts” in December 2025. The move was opposed by lawmakers, historians, and members of the Kennedy family, who argued that only Congress had the authority to rename a monument established by Congress.In February this year, the plan to close the Kennedy Center for a two-year renovation was first announced by Trump, after which the board formally approved the proposal unanimously on March 16, which was closed after the July 4 ceremony.

New Delhi: Defense Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh Has been given additional charge of the post of Secretary and Chairman, Department of Defense Research and Development Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) because current DRDO chief Sameer V Kamat is retiring.Singh will assume additional responsibilities from May 31 as the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) issued the order on Friday evening.During Kamat’s tenure as DRDO chairman from August 2022, the research organization focused on structural reforms, advancing cutting-edge technologies like quantum computing and stealth unmanned combat aerial vehicles, and accelerating indigenous systems for the armed forces.Kamat emphasized on advancements in Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS), indigenous electric propulsion for warships and space-based intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR). His tenure also saw the expansion of 15 DRDO Industry Academy Centers of Excellence to pursue translational research.Rajesh Kumar Singh, a 1989 batch IAS officer of Kerala cadre and current Defense Secretary, took over as Defense Secretary in South Block on November 1, 2024. Before assuming the post, he had taken charge as OSD (Defence Secretary-designate) on August 20, 2024. Before his appointment as Defense Secretary, Singh served as Secretary in the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade from April 24, 2023, to August 20. 2024. Earlier, Singh had held several key positions including Director (Works and Urban Transport) in the Ministry of Urban Development, Commissioner (Land) in DDA and Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.

H-1B Redditor says no response even after applying for 1500+ jobs.

A Reddit post by a man claiming to be an H-1B visa holder went viral as he said he applied for over 1,500 roles across the US in the past few months and did not receive a single call from any recruiter. The Redditor revealed his background that he is not new and has an H-1B visa and has been working as a data engineer in Ohio for more than three years. But his current company has decided not to renew his H-1B application and that is why he is looking for a job.“I have practical industry experience building pipelines, working with cloud technologies, ETL workflows, and production systems. Unfortunately, my current company has decided not to renew H1B applications, which has forced me to actively seek new opportunities,” the Redditor wrote.“What’s mentally exhausting is the complete silence despite applying everywhere across the country. At this point, I really don’t know if it’s the market, my location, visa sponsorship concerns, or something else entirely,” the Redditor wrote, asking for help from the community.This post went viral for several reasons at a time when the Donald Trump administration is taking steps to stop H-1B fraud and OPT fraud. But most of the reactions were angry, asking them to go back home. The overall perception was that three years of experience is not a good field nor is data engineering a good field. Many people commented that the situation is very clear: a temporary worker on a temporary visa is no longer needed in the US and should go home.A section of commentators expressed surprise that H-1B visa holders, considered highly skilled, are not finding jobs in the country. One wrote, “Not a single call – it means your skills are useless and no one is interested in your experience. You want a job in data engineering, good luck with that as there are thousands of candidates unemployed in the market. Better pack your stuff and go back home before your savings run out.”

JAMMU: A joint team of Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF continued to search for two to three terrorists hiding in the dense forests of Dorimal-Gambhir Mughalan belt in Manjakot sector of Rajouri district, as Operation Sheruwali entered its seventh day on Friday.Officials said helicopters, drones and sniffer dogs were assisting troops on the ground. Additional reinforcements were also sent to close potential escape routes and assist the forces in the ongoing counter-insurgency operation, which was launched on 23 May after a brief gunfight between militants and security personnel.Heavy firing and shelling took place in Dorimal on Thursday as search teams continued to tighten the cordon. Earlier, security forces had busted a terrorist hideout loaded with some essential items on May 25, the third day of the operation. Later that place was destroyed.Several top officials, including Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General Prateek Sharma and IG CRPF (Jammu) Amol V Homkar, visited Rajouri last week for operational review and situational assessment.
