Hantavirus may have spread to remote island

AMSTERDAM: Health experts rushed to stop the possible spread of hantavirus as two suspected cases were reported on Friday off the luxury cruise liner where the outbreak began. The latest reports include a man who fell ill after leaving the ship and a woman who became ill after sitting near an infected cruise passenger on a plane. The incidents reported by health officials thousands of miles away – one in Spain, the other on the remote South Atlantic island of Tristan da Cunha – are separate from WHO’s tally of eight people who became ill on the Dutch-flagged ship, the MV Hondius. Three of these people have died.Four patients remained hospitalized in South Africa, the Netherlands and Switzerland on Friday. The Hondius is en route to Teneriffe in the Canary Islands, and is expected to arrive there on Sunday morning. The WHO chief tried to reassure worried residents on Saturday that they were not in danger. WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus was due to head to the island to coordinate the landing, along with Spain’s Health Minister Monica Garcia and Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlasca.Tedros said, “I know you are worried. I know that when you hear the word ‘outbreak’ and see a ship heading toward your shores, it brings up memories that none of us have ever fully put to rest. The pain of 2020 is still real, and I do not dismiss it for a moment.” “But I want you to hear me clearly: This is not another COVID. The current public health risk from hantavirus remains low.”Passengers and crew will be screened before disembarkation under guidelines being finalized by WHO and other agencies. agencies

Italian Open: Aryna Sabalenka reveals injury concerns ahead of French Open after shock loss to Sorana Cristea

Aryna Sabalenka revealed she was struggling with a lower back problem during her Italian Open clash against Sorana Cristea. On Saturday, the world No. 1 suffered an unexpected defeat from the Romanian in the third round. Defeat in Rome 2-6, 6-3, 7-5. The defeat was Sabalenka’s second consecutive upset after her previous defeat to American Hailey Baptiste at the Madrid Open.

During the deciding set, Sabalenka took a medical timeout after appearing to be struggling with a left hip problem. The Belarusian later explained that the discomfort stemmed from his lower back and hip area, which limited his movement and full rotation during shots. She said she will now take a few days off to focus on recovery before the French Open later this month.

Sabalenka said in the post-match press conference, “I would say it’s probably my lower back that’s limiting my hip that’s limiting my full rotation. I think we’ll just take a few days off and focus on recovery. That’s the plan for now.”

‘My body was limiting me’

Sabalenka admitted that her level dropped after a strong start and said that physical discomfort prevented her from performing at her best. He also praised Cristea’s offensive performance and described it as a difficult but valuable learning experience.

“Yes, I felt like I didn’t play well from start to finish. I started really well, but then my level dropped. It felt like my body was preventing me from performing at the highest level. She stepped in and played incredible tennis, and didn’t really give me many chances. It was tough, but I think we never lose, we only learn, so it’s OK,” Sabalenka said.

How Sabalenka fell apart against Cristea

Against Sorana Cristea, Sabalenka looked strongly dominant early on, sweeping the first set and going 2–0 up in the second. But her rhythm gradually faded as unforced errors began to pile up, giving Cirstea a chance to gain momentum and confidence.

As the competition progressed, Sabalenka’s frustration became clear. Although she managed to make a brief comeback from 4-5 down in the deciding set, Cristea held her composure in the decisive moments and pulled off a stunning upset.

Sabalenka will enter the French Open under increasing pressure after consecutive crushing defeats in Madrid and Rome. After squandering six match points against Hailey Baptiste in Madrid, the world No. 1 again struggled with errors on clay, raising concerns over her consistency and preparation ahead of Roland Garros, where she is still in search of her first title.

Former Visa Officer Reveals 5 Things Interviewers Notice Apart from Documents

पूर्व वीज़ा अधिकारी ने दस्तावेज़ों के अलावा साक्षात्कारकर्ताओं द्वारा नोटिस की जाने वाली 5 चीज़ों का खुलासा किया

A former visa officer explains the dos and don’ts for a visa interview.

Getting a US visa has gradually become a game of luck as the denial rate is high. Sometimes there are valid reasons, sometimes visa officers simply suspect that the applicant cannot return to their home countries, and sometimes, it is just a bad day. Former visa officer Christa Byker said that while most people focus on documents and literal answers to potential questions, visa officers are trained to read microimpressions. They can recognize subtle cues like confidence, stability, and authenticity,“In those first few seconds, before you even finish your first sentence, the officer has already started to make an impression,” Byker said.

5 things visa officers notice

  1. how do you walk up to the counter
  2. Eye contact (natural, not forced)
  3. Tone of voice – calm/natural/confident, practiced/timid
  4. listen completely before answering
  5. Keeping answers strategic, logical and honest

3 things to never say in a visa interview

Byker said he chose three phrases that he heard repeatedly in interviews, which created an element of negativity and doubt in his mind.

  1. “My application was weak”
  2. “I was very nervous and disorganized so I couldn’t express myself”
  3. “I took a gap year because my profile was not strong enough yet”

What to say instead:

  1. “Today I would like to illustrate the strength of my application by demonstrating X”
  2. “At my last interview it appeared there was a misunderstanding about my father’s finances. He is a very successful businessman and has a long travel history. Can you check again?”
  3. “I took a gap year to prepare for the exam, invest in myself, and figure out what I want in life. Now I’m ready to study a degree I’m passionate about.”

If your visa officer is rude and you are refused a visa

Bykar said that it often happens that the visa application is rejected due to the bias of the visa officer, even though there is no flaw in the case. In such a situation, the best thing is to apply again. Byker said, “That rude officer probably has a bad reputation among coworkers. If they see that person’s name on prior denial notes, it might actually be a signal to reconsider the case.”
