New Delhi: Today’s Chanakya has predicted a big victory for BJP in West Bengal on Thursday, while News18 in its exit poll has predicted a tough fight with BJP leading.In Tamil Nadu, Today’s Chanakya gave majority to DMK and its allies, where actor Vijay-led TVK has emerged as an X factor that could push the AIADMK-BJP alliance to the third position.While most exit polls have given the BJP a lead in West Bengal, Today’s Chanakya has predicted a massive lead for the party with 48% of the vote compared to the ruling TMC’s 38%, a difference of 3% between the two sides. It said there would be 192 (plus or minus 11) seats for the BJP and 100 (plus or minus 11) seats for the TMC in the 294-member assembly. News 18 projects BJP to get 143 to 163 seats and TMC to get 127 to 147 seats, with both parties projected to get 44% and 43% of the votes respectively.According to Today’s Chanakya, DMK alliance may get 125 seats and TVK alliance may get 63 seats in the 234-member assembly in Tamil Nadu. It has given an edge to the UDF in Kerala and predicted a landslide victory for the BJP in Assam, predictions that are in line with the general trend of other elections. Axis My India, another pollster, decided not to release its forecast for West Bengal due to “exceptionally high non-response rates”, with nearly 70% of voters refusing to participate in the survey.It added, “Refusal rates of this magnitude actually exceed historical norms and introduce a high level of non-response bias.”
Following a complaint by advocate Prashant Bhushan, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said the CBI cannot complete the investigation within four weeks as promised earlier due to discovery of certain new facts and dimensions in the case and submitted the status report of the investigation by the CBI and ED to a bench of CJI Surya Kant and Justice J Bagchi.“I will not be able to answer the allegation as to why some were arrested and not others,” Mehta said.The bench, which on March 23 had expressed displeasure over the apparent reluctance of the investigating agencies to proceed against ADAG group companies, said it would pass further orders after seeing the status report and posted the matter for further hearing on May 8.During the last hearing, Anil Ambani’s lawyer Mukul Rohatgi had said that ADAG is ready to discuss with banks and financial institutions regarding settlement of dues.On Thursday, senior advocate Kapil Sibal appeared for him and told the bench that the court needs to know the background of the case, which is important.Taking cues from the subject matter of the PIL, which alleged that huge sums of money were taken by ADAG companies as loans from banks and then insolvency proceedings were initiated only to have these companies taken over by relatives for a song, lawyer Prabhas Bajaj said such scams are widespread in insolvency proceedings.When he cited the example of solvent companies being taken over cheaply by other companies through insolvency proceedings, causing huge losses to banks, the bench said it would not go into individual cases.“Our effort is to dispel the perception that big players involved in such cases get away easily,” it said.

Delhi High Court Said on Thursday, directed that his assets worth Rs 30,000 crore be seized until all doubts are resolved. Justice Jyoti Singh said, “The legitimate suspicious circumstances raised by the plaintiff have to be completely removed by the defendant number one (Priya Kapoor) before the document is accepted as the last will.”He said the plaintiffs have “made out a prima facie case that the property needs to be protected and preserved until the disposal of the suit”.Citing the will, Priya’s claims have been challenged by Sanjay’s children from his previous marriage to actor Karisma Kapoor.The judge said, if the property is not preserved and Priya ultimately fails to prove the validity of the will, Sanjay and Karisma’s children Samaira and Kiaan, besides their mother Rani Kapoor, will be deprived of their legitimate share of the property.The interim order freezes the deceased’s equity shareholding in three Indian companies and prohibits the disposal of his personal effects, including artworks.Priya is barred from withdrawing money from her late husband’s provident fund or touching the funds in his Indian bank accounts, unless the withdrawal is to meet Sanjay’s obligations related to his divorce from Karishma. The court also barred him from operating foreign bank accounts and cryptocurrency assets.This order is not binding on Sanjay’s immovable foreign properties. Priya’s legal team had argued that these were beyond the scope of the HC on jurisdictional grounds.Sanjay died on July 12 last year after falling during a polo match in England. He reportedly suffered cardiac arrest after eating a live bee.
