Cameron House, one of Scotland’s most famous luxury hotels, has been sold to Victory Group, a hospitality and real estate investment company founded by American investor Eric Moresco, in a deal reportedly worth up to £100 million, according to The Times (UK).Moresco is a former managing director of Blackstone and previously worked on mergers, acquisitions and real estate investment deals at Morgan Stanley in New York, London and Paris. He founded Victory Group in 2009, focusing on hospitality and real estate investments throughout Western Europe.The five-star resort on the shores of Loch Lomond was previously owned by KSL Capital Partners and is believed to be one of the most expensive hotel sales in Scotland in recent years.

Victory confirmed the acquisition on Tuesday, which is the company’s first investment in Scotland. The luxury property includes 208 rooms, a golf course, spa facilities, self-catered lodges, a marina, restaurants and a private cinema.Commenting on the purchase, Moresco said Cameron House stood out because of its location, history and reputation in Scottish hospitality.“This acquisition reflects our strong belief in high-quality assets in attractive locations,” he said.“Cameron House combines breathtaking beauty, heritage and luxury with superb Scottish hospitality. Moresco founded the company with the aim of creating a more hands-on investment firm, where senior leadership remains closely involved in projects and long-term planning.Cameron House’s history dates back centuries and was the home of the Smollett family before being developed as a luxury hotel destination. The current Baronial-style building replaced an earlier castle in the 19th century, and the property has been operating as a hotel since 1990.KSL Capital Partners purchased the property in 2015 for more than £70 million and subsequently oversaw a major restoration project following a deadly fire in 2017 that killed two guests.

New Delhi: India and Japan on Wednesday strengthened their cooperation in emerging technologies and health research, with the two countries exchanging agreements in the field of quantum science and medical devices during a high-level bilateral meeting in New Delhi.Onoda Kimi, Minister of State for Science and Technology Policy and Space Policy of Japan, along with a high-level delegation, met Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh to discuss cooperation in cutting-edge technologies including quantum science, artificial intelligence, health research and advanced computing.The meeting saw the exchange of Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) in health and medical devices between Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED), Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and Department of Science and Technology (DST). A Letter of Intent (LOI) on cooperation in quantum science and technology was also signed between the Cabinet Office of Japan and DST.The Ministry of Science and Technology said the partnership aims to advance the India-Japan strategic partnership in “science, technology and innovation” with a “strong focus on emerging and critical technologies”.Addressing the gathering, Dr Jitendra Singh said, “India and Japan share a natural synergy in science and technology. While Japan brings advanced technological capabilities, India offers a vast pool of talented human resources. Together, we can accelerate innovation in frontier areas and translate research into impactful social outcomes.”He said India’s growing focus on deep tech areas through national missions in “quantum technologies, cyber-physical systems, electric mobility, clean energy and advanced computing” is creating opportunities for “joint research, co-development and industrial partnerships”.The ministry said the discussions were also based on the outcomes of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Japan in August 2025, where the two countries agreed to expand cooperation under the India-Japan Science, Technology and Innovation Partnership.Speaking during the conversation, Onoda Kimi lauded India’s “rapid economic growth and its strong commitment to innovation,” particularly the “large-scale adoption of artificial intelligence across all sectors.”He also said that his association with Indian academic institutions “reflects a strong culture of resilience among young researchers with the ability to learn from failure and continue to innovate.”According to the ministry, the Japanese side highlighted that the country’s strengths in “advanced manufacturing and computational technologies, including quantum and AI” closely match India’s growing technology ecosystem.The two sides also discussed cooperation under India’s National Quantum Mission, which covers areas such as quantum computing, communications, sensing and secure communication networks. Japan shared insights from its Quantum Innovation Hub and expressed interest in connecting them with Indian institutions.The discussions also covered researcher mobility programmes, joint innovation platforms and industry internships for Indian researchers in Japan, aimed at strengthening academic and industrial partnerships between the two countries.The ministry said the two countries agreed to deepen engagement through “researcher-to-researcher collaborations, institutional partnerships and industry ties” to further strengthen India-Japan cooperation in science, technology and innovation.

Kotwali Nagar Police, under the leadership of Area Officer City Swapnil Muyal, took action on the information of the informer. When the police team reached the third floor of Mahavir Apartment, the door of a flat was found slightly open. Inside the room, around 15 to 20 people were found gambling with cards and dice. The accused got scared on seeing the police, after which everyone was surrounded and caught.

According to the police, Rs 2,47,660 was recovered as gambling money from the spot, while cash was also found in the pockets of the accused during the search. The total amount recovered was estimated at Rs 3,10,600. A case was registered against all the accused under Section 3/4/5 Gambling Act and arrested. A legal controversy has erupted over 15-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi after a Karnataka-based social activist sought an FIR over the youngster’s participation in the Indian Premier League, alleging that allowing a minor to play in professional tournaments is tantamount to child labour.

Suryavanshi, one of the breakout stars of IPL 2026, Activist CM Shivkumar Nayak has found himself at the center of an unexpected legal debate after filing a complaint questioning whether a minor should be allowed to participate in a high-profile professional sports league.

Nayak has sought to file an FIR arguing that minors should not be involved in large-scale commercial sporting events and Suryavanshi’s IPL Participation may be a violation of child labor laws.

However, the complaint has sparked sharp criticism online, with many users strongly objecting to the comparison between child labor and professional sports.

One user argued that if a young athlete earns his place through skill, contracts and rules, “it’s not exploitation, it’s an opportunity,” adding that by the same logic, every under-18 athlete representing India should also be questioned.

Another reported that 15-year-old Suryavanshi falls in the juvenile category and is participating in a professional sports league with the consent of both his parents and himself, arguing that such participation cannot be equated with child labour.

Others drew parallels with Indian cricket’s past, pointing to players such as Sachin Tendulkar and Parthiv Patel, both of whom achieved success at young ages, with many questioning why a similar debate had not emerged then.

A large portion of the online reaction focused on the need to protect and nurture exceptional sporting talent rather than drag young athletes into legal disputes.

What do the rules say?

The debate has also drawn renewed attention to the ICC’s rules on age eligibility in cricket.

In November 2020, the ICC introduced minimum age restrictions for international cricket, stating that players must be at least 15 years of age to play any form of men’s, women’s or under-19 international cricket.

“The Board has confirmed the introduction of a minimum age restriction for international cricket to improve player safety,” the ICC said in its official statement.

The rule applies to ICC events, bilateral cricket and Under-19 international matches, and was introduced primarily as a player welfare measure.

Importantly, this rule applies only to international cricket and does not govern domestic franchise leagues like the IPL, where Suryavanshi has emerged as one of the standout performers this season.

A football fan will be paid $50,000 to watch every match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Fox Sports announced A nationwide search is underway for what is being called “Fox One’s Chief World Cup Watcher Hired Through Indeed.” The temporary role, created in partnership with Fox One and Indeed, will require the successful applicant to watch all 104 matches of the expanded tournament during next summer’s World Cup in North America. The fan selected for the role will watch the match live in 4K via Fox One from a custom-built glass viewing area in New York City’s Times Square, with the tournament scheduled to begin exactly a month from now. The job also includes creating social media content throughout the competition, with FOX expecting the successful applicant to share reactions, commentary and watch-party style content while following each match throughout the tournament schedule.

The move comes as supporters are already making travel plans for the World Cup, although many fan groups have raised concerns over the price of tickets in recent months, particularly on resale platforms where costs have increased significantly for high-demand matches. Fox Sports marketing president Robert Gottlieb described the situation as part of the broadcaster’s broader plans for the tournament. “This FIFA World Cup will be a historic tournament that demands equally historic officiating,” Gottlieb said in a press release. “An engaged applicant will have the work of a lifetime to experience and celebrate every story, every country and every exhilarating moment that defines the beautiful game.” Applicants are instructed to update or create an Indeed profile by May 17, including any relevant experience or skills that can support their application for the role.
