New Delhi: According to the latest data from the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), at least 32,602 cases were registered for crimes against senior citizens (above 60 years of age) in 2024, showing a 16.9% increase in registrations compared to 2023 (27,886 cases). Overall, 27,049 cases of murder were recorded during 2024 as against 27,721 cases recorded in 2023. Apart from murder for profit, personal rivalries and disputes were the main motives. During 2024, 96,079 cases of kidnapping and abduction were recorded, showing a decrease of 15.4% compared to 2023 (1.13 lakh cases). Of the total crimes, 35.4 lakh cases were registered under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Indian Judicial Code (BNS), which were implemented in 2024, and 23.4 lakh cases were registered under special and local laws. The NCRB also released crime data comparing 19 metropolitan cities and said there were 8.4 lakh cognizable crimes in 2024, which is 10.9% less than in 2023 (9.4 lakh cases). A total of 1,987 murder cases were recorded in these cities during 2024, showing a decline of 0.8% compared to 2023 (2,004 cases). The data also shows that 8.21 lakh fake Indian currency notes with a face value of Rs 54.6 crore were seized during 2024. On the enforcement side, officials managed to seize 3.62 lakh kg of explosives, including RDX and TNT, compared to 10 lakh kg in 2023. The data shows that 55,698 cases were registered in crimes against Scheduled Castes (SC), showing a decrease of 3.6% compared to 2023. (57,789 cases). At least 9,966 cases were registered for crimes against Scheduled Tribes (STs), showing a decrease of 23.1% compared to 2023 (12,960 cases). With 63,564 cases, there was a decline in Arms Act cases in 2024 compared to 73,388 cases in 2023. There was also a sharp decline in “injury” cases, but the report clarified that this could be linked to legal changes introduced under the BNS which made it a non-cognizable offence.

New Delhi: Nearly two out of five NEET (UG) candidates this year came from just four states, highlighting India’s concentration of medical education aspirants even as the overall exam base continues to expand. Data from the National Testing Agency (NTA) state-wise report for NEET (UG) 2026 shows that Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Bihar together had around 9.4 lakh candidates, or 41.4% of the total 22.7 lakh candidates who appeared for the exam. Overall participation was high. Out of 22.7 lakh candidates, more than 22 lakh appeared, i.e. the attendance rate was 96.9%. A total of 69,976 candidates were absent, or 3% of the allotted centres. The four largest states also top the list individually. Uttar Pradesh recorded the highest allotment with around 3.6 lakh candidates, followed by Maharashtra with 2.2 lakh, Rajasthan with 2 lakh and Bihar with 1.5 lakh. Other high-volume states include Karnataka (1.5 lakh), Tamil Nadu (1.4 lakh), Madhya Pradesh (1.2 lakh), Kerala (1.1 lakh) and West Bengal (1 lakh). Overall, the top nine states – from Uttar Pradesh to West Bengal – had more than 17 lakh candidates, or nearly three-fourth of the total pool, indicating an intense rush of candidates into the limited group of large states. In contrast, many smaller states and union territories reported allocation of less than 5,000 candidates, underscoring the uneven geographical spread of participation. But attendance levels were consistently high across all states. Gujarat recorded the highest attendance rate at 98.1%, followed by Puducherry at 98% and Rajasthan at 97.9%. Among larger states, Uttar Pradesh (97.5%) and Maharashtra (97.4%) also reported strong turnout. Among major states, Kerala had the lowest attendance rate at 94.4%, followed by Assam (95.1%) and Tamil Nadu (95.9%).

Donors claim that never happened. Seems a lot easier to explain.”

The exchange quickly became more personal after Blake Neff reposted a previous response he gave to Owens in April. TPUSA supporters also argue that releasing private internal material will only lead to more harassment and online chaos.Owens supporters continued to demand proof that Charlie Kirk had officially approved Erica Kirk as his successor before his death. TPUSA supporters, on the other hand, believe that Owens is stirring up unnecessary drama by turning a private tragedy into a public material.
