A UK farmer plans to make his Highland cows “less photogenic” amid growing concerns about tourists and influencers getting too close to them. Alex Birch, a cattle farmer from Derbyshire, said the decision had been taken after repeated incidents of people approaching his animals, taking videos and even trying to hug them. Speaking to the BBC, Birch said: “My cows get no peace… I’ve seen videos, I’ve seen it in person, I’ve seen someone filming a yoga video next to them.” The 39-year-old said the situation has worsened in recent years, mainly because of social media trends. Highland cows, which graze on Baslow Edge in the Peak District, have become a popular attraction, especially since the pandemic. Birch said he has seen large groups gathering around the animals. “Once I found 30 people shining their cameras at the edge of a field with cows locked in it,” he said, adding that many people fail to understand the risks involved. “People don’t understand it when you tell them not to come near them and the cows can attack them. They don’t think it’s a problem, they can’t see the danger,” he said. To deal with this issue, Birch said he plans to breed Highland cows by crossing them with another highland breed, which he hopes will make them less attractive to visitors. “The intention is to make them less photogenic… It’s sad, it’s not the decision I wanted to make,” he said, adding that his grandfather, who introduced the cattle to the family in the 1970s, “wasn’t particularly happy about it but understands”. Birch said this problem has persisted for several years. “It’s not just a freak accident, it’s been going on for four years… people are very determined,” he said. They also raised concerns about liability and said they could face consequences if someone was injured while interacting with the animals. The Peak District National Park Authority has also warned visitors against getting too close to the cattle. It states that cuddling cows should be avoided as it is “highly dangerous”, with a risk of being crushed, charged or attacked, especially when cows have calves. Authorities have urged people to maintain a safe distance, avoid feeding animals and not take selfies with animals, stressing that they are not used to shun human contact.

New Delhi: Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday described the defeat of the delimitation bill in Parliament as a “victory for democracy” and accused the Center of conspiring to change the federal structure of the country.Addressing a press conference, Priyanka said that the Center is planning to remain in power by using women.The Congress leader said, “What happened yesterday was a major victory for democracy. The government’s conspiracy to change the federal structure and weaken democracy was defeated and stopped. It was a victory for the Constitution, a victory for the country and a victory for the unity of the opposition and it was clearly visible on the faces of the ruling party leaders.”He said, “I think it is a conspiracy that somehow they have to remain in power… So, to achieve this, they are planning how to remain in power permanently by using women… They thought that if it is passed, they will win. If it is not passed, they will become protectors of women by branding other parties as anti-women… We know it is not easy for women to become protectors.”Priyanka also asked the Center to bring back the unanimously passed bill in 2023. Priyanka said, “It is a dark day for them (Centre) because for the first time they have got the shock they deserved. Today, women’s problems are increasing rapidly. The struggle is increasing. Women are not stupid. They see everything. That PR and media hype will not work now. If you want to do something concrete, bring back the bill which was passed unanimously in 2023, which had the support of all parties.”“If you need to make some small modifications to it so that it can be implemented now, do that and implement it now. Give women their rights now. But do not try to mislead them by twisting it and linking it to other things. Do it now. We are all ready,” she said.His comments came after the Bill proposing reservation for women through the delimitation process could not garner the required two-thirds majority in the Lok Sabha, with 298 members voting in favor and 230 voting against it.Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla announced that the Constitution Amendment Bill has not been passed. After the results, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said that the government will not move forward on the remaining two related bills.The BJP has accused the opposition parties of blocking a landmark reform aimed at ensuring 33 per cent reservation for women in Parliament and state assemblies. Union Home Minister Amit Shah alleged that Congress, TMC and other parties prevented the bill from being passed and warned of political consequences.However, the opposition says it supports women’s reservation in principle but opposes linking it to the delimitation and census processes. Leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, described the bill as an attempt to change India’s electoral structure, while several Congress leaders described the vote as a defense of democratic values.

इनके अलावा एसडीआरएफ, एटीएस, बम निरोधक दस्ता और जल पुलिस की टीमें भी जगह-जगह तैनात रहेंगी. चारों धामों और यात्रा मार्गों पर सीसीटीवी कैमरे लगाए गए हैं। भीड़ नियंत्रण और निगरानी के लिए अलग-अलग जगहों से ड्रोन से भी निगरानी की जाएगी. श्रद्धालुओं की सुविधा के लिए पार्किंग स्थल और रुकने के स्थान भी बनाए गए हैं।

पुलिस मुख्यालय की ओर से जिन अधिकारियों को यात्रा मार्ग का स्थलीय निरीक्षण करने के निर्देश दिए गए थे, उन्होंने निरीक्षण पूरा कर सभी को दिशा-निर्देश दे दिए हैं। यातायात को सुचारु बनाए रखने के लिए मार्गों पर बॉटल नेक, ब्लैक स्पॉट एवं लैंड स्लाइड जोन चिन्हित कर वहां आवश्यक पुलिस बल एवं अन्य विभागों की टीमें तैनात की गई हैं।
