A woman's ordinary walk turned into a jackpot: More than 2,000 ancient coins found in a farm in the Czech Republic

What started as a simple walk across a freshly plowed field, in the Kutná Hora region of the Czech Republic, turned into one of Central Europe’s largest discoveries in the history of coins. A local woman, who chose to remain anonymous, found 2,150 coins dating from the late 11th and early 12th centuries. The coins were inside a broken ceramic pot. The collection represents a large amount of wealth from a time when politics was very unstable. Experts from the Institute of Archeology of the Czech Academy of Sciences called the discovery a jackpot for historians. It provides rare clues about money systems, metal use and economic changes during the challenging rule of the Přemyslid dynasty in medieval Bohemia.

Over 2,000 ancient coins found during a casual walk

As mentioned Institute of Archeology of CASIn a field near Kutna Hora, a woman noticed some silver coins that were partially exposed due to weather. They reported their findings, which were then investigated by archaeologists from the Czech Academy of Sciences. They discovered 2,150 silver coins; These coins were originally housed in a ceramic vessel, which broke over time. This discovery is one of the most important discoveries in this area in the last ten years. Experts now needed to quickly stabilize and preserve the coins to prevent the silver alloy from oxidizing.

Why were more than 2,000 coins kept hidden for centuries?

Experts estimate the coins to be dated between 1085 and 1120 AD, according to a study published by the Czech Academy of Sciences, which is known for minting silver dinars. The collection includes coins of King Vratislav II and Princes Vratislav II and Borivoj II. At that time, the denarius was the main currency of the Přemyslid state. The sheer quantity of coins shows that this was not just someone’s personal savings. Instead, it may have been a large store of military pay or war treasure, hidden during civil unrest between rivals for the Bohemian throne.

How does XRF technology detect antique silver?

Scientists are now investigating the chemical composition of silver using X-ray fluorescence (XRF), along with other non-destructive techniques. The purpose of these analyzes is to trace the silver ore back to its origin, possibly linking the coins to specific local mines or historical trade paths. Because the treasure was discovered in its original setting largely undisturbed, it offers a unique snapshot of history. This allows researchers to trace economic conditions such as purchasing power and inflation during the early 12th century.

Election Results 2026: How BJP defeated anti-incumbency wave one state at a time, while rivals lagged behind

New Delhi: As the results of the 2026 assembly elections began to emerge, a familiar tune returned to Indian politics. Not loud or unexpected, but recognizable. Something which is in the making since the Lok Sabha decision of 2024. A similar rhythm has been followed in every election. BJP It has managed to overcome the anti-incumbency wave consistently (from Haryana to Maharashtra and now, Assam), not only defending its government but also securing a larger mandate. What once seemed like a temporary fix is now shaping up to be something more deliberate.

Photo-Slider Visualization

In many states, the party has defended its ground while venturing into new territory, repeating a pattern with striking continuity. There is a rhythm to it now, almost like the same tune being played over and over again, each election result feeling familiar. In Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, there is a line: “algebra (in this case read: politics) Like sheet music. It is not important that you can read music, but that you can hear it.And apparently, the BJP has. Here’s how the saffron party has chalked out its strategy to fight the anti-incumbency wave:

Shock

The trajectory of the BJP after 2024 is surprising for its methodology. In June 2024, the party was reduced to 240 seats in the Lok Sabha, losing its absolute majority and becoming dependent on coalition partners. The opposition Indian faction interpreted that result as a turning point. It entered subsequent state elections with confidence, often as the perceived frontrunner.Yet that momentum did not translate into votes. In state after state, the opposition struggled to convert narrative gains into electoral success. Meanwhile, the BJP made a swift recount. It refined its messaging, tightened its candidate selection, and leaned heavily on targeted welfare schemes addressing specific voter segments.Equally important was the party’s ability to maintain cohesion at all levels of leadership. The central leadership, especially Prime Minister Narendra Modi, continued to act as a unifying force, while state units adapted to local dynamics. This balance between central projection and local accommodation became a recurring feature of BJP campaigns.

Haryana Elections – Exit polls are proving wrong

The first sign that the Lok Sabha decision would not define the BJP’s path came in Haryana. After being in power for a decade, the state government started showing clear signs of fatigue. Exit polls were tilted towards the Congress, and the opposition campaign had built a consistent narrative around accountability. The BJP’s response was pragmatic rather than defensive. It replaced a significant portion of its sitting MLAs and transferred the leadership from Manohar Lal Khattar to Naib Singh Saini in a strategic move to stem the anti-incumbency wave. The result was, for the third consecutive time, 48 seats in the 90-member assembly. The victory was not overwhelming, but it was important. It demonstrated that anti-incumbency could be mitigated through timely intervention and organizational discipline.

Maharashtra 2024

Maharashtra was an even bigger victory for the BJP. The Mahayuti alliance won a landslide victory by winning 235 out of 288 seats. The change in the Lok Sabha elections held just a few months ago was dramatic. However, this result was not driven by any single factor. Welfare schemes like Ladki Bahin played a role in uniting sections of the voters. At the same time, coalition management proved decisive.PM Modi’s presence gave a major boost to BJP’s campaign joint welfare message. The opposition, despite its previous parliamentary success, struggled to present a cohesive counter-narrative and suffered from disjointed coalition tactics.

Delhi 2025: return to the capital

Delhi elections are a symbol of a different kind of change. The Aam Aadmi Party had built a strong governance narrative over a decade focused on public services and welfare delivery. However, by 2025, that model started showing signs of stress.Controversies, including the liquor policy issue involving Arvind Kejriwal, tarnished the party’s clean governance image. Public dissatisfaction, especially on infrastructure and environmental issues, created opportunities for the BJP.The BJP’s campaign focused on these weaknesses while offering its welfare commitments. The logic of administrative coordination between the Center and the state resonated even in a city with a unique constitutional structure.BJP returned to power in Delhi after 27 years by winning 48 out of 70 seats. The result highlighted an important lesson: Even the strongest regional players who have built a strong cadre can be toppled.

Bihar 2025: The strength of the alliance is increasing

The Bihar result reinforced the importance of alliances but also highlighted a shift within them. The NDA won a decisive victory with over 200 seats in the 243-member assembly. While Nitish Kumar remained in the central role, BJP emerged as the largest party. Then came the change: BJP’s Samrat Choudhary took over as chief minister, while Nitish Kumar, who held the state’s top post for two decades, moved to the Rajya Sabha. This was a big moment for the BJP: the party moved from a supporting role to the center of power. The campaign itself linked caste recalculation with welfare outreach. The opposition, led by Tejashwi YadavRan an energetic campaign but struggled to match the NDA’s organizational reach and coalition stability. It also struggled to form a cohesive coalition strategy with the Congress, while the India Bloc allies struggled to hammer out a seat-sharing deal until late in the election season.

Assam 2026: Fighting the anti-incumbency wave

Among the states where elections were to be held in 2026, Assam was the easiest for BJP. The government led by Himanta Biswa Sarma entered the elections with a relatively strong position.Welfare distribution, particularly targeted at tea garden workers and low-income groups, formed a central pillar of the campaign. This was complemented by a clear ideological position that strengthened the party’s support base. The NDA’s easy victory, easily crossing the majority mark, confirms the BJP’s dominance in the state. Assam became the “stick” in the broader pattern, a government that resisted the anti-incumbency wave without significant disruption.

West Bengal 2026: A Success

The most interesting result of this assembly election cycle came in West Bengal. For more than a decade, Mamata Banerjee and the Trinamool Congress had worked vigorously against the BJP’s progress. The 2021 elections had brought BJP closer but not that close. The years that followed saw the steady expansion of the BJP’s organizational network across the state. At the same time, the TMC faced growing challenges, including local anti-incumbency, allegations of corruption and internal tensions. The 2026 elections reflected these changes. The overwhelming voter turnout indicated a desire for change. The BJP’s campaign combined welfare promises with a strong ideological pitch, while also capitalizing on discontent at the constituency level, raising issues of anti-incumbency, corruption and deteriorating law and order. At the time of publishing, BJP has taken a decisive lead, crossing the majority mark. The result was not just a victory but a breakthrough in a state that had long resisted it.

Corrected what the opposition could not do

While the BJP managed the anti-incumbency wave with increasing sophistication, its rivals struggled to do the same. In Kerala, the Left Democratic Front lost power after its rare consecutive term, as voters reverted to the pattern of state choice. In Tamil NaduDMK faces a significant setback as Vijay-led TVK moves closer to a landslide mandate. These results highlight a broader issue within the opposition. India Bloc’s success in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections has created expectations that are not matched by organizational cohesion in state contests. Leadership remained fragmented, and strategies often relied heavily on national narratives that did not translate effectively at the state level. The anti-incumbency wave, which was a powerful tool against the BJP in 2024, has turned against these governments. Unlike the BJP, they lacked a consistent structure to manage that pressure.

emerging playbook

Politics is not a one-time game. It’s incredible, chaotic, and deliberate. A big victory or defeat can change the mood of party workers, but as Shahrukh Khan Will say, “The picture is still pending.” If the state assembly results since the 2024 Lok Sabha elections show anything, it is this: no party is so big that it requires a recalibration, and when it is done right, no setback is too big to recover from. The Indian camp walked out of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections believing that it had got the winning note. The result was read as a change in mood, a sign that the BJP’s dominance was at its peak. But state elections have a way of testing perceptions. One by one, those notions have been destroyed. In Maharashtra, Delhi, Bihar and now most dramatically in West Bengal, the story has been repeated with small variations but the end result is the same. But familiar enough to raise a tough question for the opposition: not how to win one election, but how to prevent losing the next one.

Ukraine, Russia separately declare ceasefire ahead of Moscow’s Victory Day

Ukraine, Russia separately declare ceasefire ahead of Moscow's Victory Day

Ukraine and Russia have announced separate ceasefire timelines ahead of Moscow’s May 9 Victory Day celebrations, with Kiev announcing it will halt hostilities before the ceasefire window outlined by the Kremlin.Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukraine would begin its ceasefire at midnight on 5–6 May, stating that no formal request had been made by Moscow on how the cessation of hostilities would work.“To date, there have been no official appeals to Ukraine regarding the modalities of cessation of hostilities that are being claimed on Russian social media,” Zelensky said on Twitter.Announcing Kiev’s position, he said, “In this regard, we are announcing a ceasefire regime starting at 00:00 (2100 GMT) on the night of 5–6 May. In the time left until that moment, it is realistic to ensure that the silence takes effect.”Ukraine said it would proceed with a ceasefire from that point, with Zelensky emphasizing humanitarian priorities over symbolic wartime commemorations.“We believe that human life is more valuable than any anniversary ‘celebration’,” he said. The Ukrainian president also criticized Russia’s focus on securing its Victory Day parade, saying, “It is time for Russian leaders to take real steps to end their war, especially since Russia’s Defense Ministry believes it cannot hold a parade in Moscow without Ukraine’s goodwill.”Meanwhile, Russia said its own ceasefire would last from May 8 to 9 following an order issued by President Vladimir Putin to mark the 81st anniversary of the Soviet victory in World War II, known in Russia as the Great Patriotic War.“The ceasefire is declared to be held on May 8-9, 2026 in honor of the celebration of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War,” Moscow said in its statement.“We expect the Ukrainian side to follow this example,” it added.Russia’s Defense Ministry also issued a warning over any disruption of its commemorations, saying, “If the Kyiv regime attempts to carry out its criminal plans aimed at disrupting the celebration of the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation will retaliate with a massive missile strike on the center of Kyiv.”Victory Day, celebrated every year on May 9, commemorates the role of the Soviet Union in the defeat of Nazi Germany and honors the millions of people who died during World War II.

The ‘I Will Always Love You’ singer mentioned that, although she is on the road to recovery, her longtime struggle with health has slowed her down. His medications and treatments leave him feeling lightheaded, which is not an ideal state to be in when traveling with all the musical instruments.

Dolly Parton cancels Las Vegas residency due to health reasons

“I’m really sorry I’m going to miss everyone who had tickets to see me in Las Vegas. Well, you get to Vegas and you have a big time,” Dolly said in a video shared on her social media. She added, “And hopefully someday you’ll come to New York and maybe see my show, and I’ll see you somewhere.”Expressing gratitude she continued, “But I also want you to know that so many of you are concerned about me and Carl – and you were very nice about it. But after going through a year for the first time, I mean the holidays and especially our wedding anniversary and the day of his death, March 3, you know, it was hard for me. But I will always love him and I will always miss him. But you’d be amazed at how much love and concern you had for me during that time. How much it mattered.“Lord, my house and my porch looked like a vegetable garden with all the flowers, and my den looked like the post office with all the cards and letters. So yes, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. You have been a big part in my healing,” the 80-year-old country music star said.

Dolly Parton has some good and bad news amid her health struggles

“First of all, it concerns my health and I have some good news and some bad news, but the good news is that I am responding really well to the medicines and treatments and I am improving every day,” she said at the beginning of her video message. Then, coming to the bad news, she said, “Now, the bad news is that it’s going to take me a while to get up to stage performance level because some medications and treatments make me a little floaty, as my grandmother used to say. And of course, I can’t walk around wearing a banjo, a guitar, and five-inch heels. And you know I’m going to wear them. Not to mention all those heavy weights. The rhinestone dress, the big hair, my big Personality. God, this would drive anyone crazy.”Light-heartedly he joked, “But let’s treat me like an old classic car that might be better than ever once it’s fixed up. But when he lifted the hood of this old antique car, he realized I needed my engine rebuilt and my transmission was slipping. My oil pan was leaking and my muffler was worn out, and my shocks and pistons needed replacing. And of course, my spark plugs needed to be replaced. Is needed. Because you know as well as I know that I cannot lose my shine. I know I’m still crazy, but they didn’t mention anything about my mental health. But you know, I’ve already told you that I’ve always had a problem with kidney stones. Lord, they dig more rock from me in a year than the rock quarry in Rockwood, Tennessee. However, seriously, she said that her immune and digestive systems have “completely deteriorated over the past three years.” “And they’re working really hard on rebuilding and strengthening them. And hopefully I’ll be ready to snuff again soon. Maybe I shouldn’t have said snuff. Snuff wouldn’t be very good for any of them, would it? Plus, I wouldn’t want my bottom lip falling off on top of everything else. It would be like losing a hubcap, wouldn’t it? Anyway, I know I’m being silly, but I Just trying to keep everything light and breezy, he said. “A happy heart is like good medicine.”Amidst all this, the country singer confirmed that she is still working. Discovery of 150 million year old soft tissue fossil strengthens Darwin’s theory of evolution.

Discovery of 150 million year old soft tissue fossil strengthens Darwin's theory of evolution

In 1859, Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution was propounded in “On the Origin of Species”. In this theory, Darwin suggested that evolution occurred gradually, although there were no complete fossils. In contemporary times, scientists have found evidence of evolution from a 150 million year old fossil that shows the soft tissue that Darwin predicted in his theory of evolution. The findings from this fossil make an important contribution to evolutionary science by providing new information on fossilization, prehistoric organisms, and evolutionary processes. Key terms in this topic include Darwin’s theory of evolution, discovery of soft tissue fossils, evidence from the fossil record, and 150 million year old fossils.

Darwin’s prediction and fossil record Difference

In On the Origin of Species, which Charles Darwin wrote in 1859, he did not suggest that the fossil record is completely comprehensive. In fact, he actually highlighted what could be seen as the main weakness of his theory, but did not attempt to hide it. Darwin realized that if evolution proceeded slowly, there would be an abundance of transitional forms. Nevertheless, the insufficient fossil record known at the time has not yet confirmed this. He wrote:“Why, if species have descended in minute order from other species, do we not everywhere see innumerable transitional forms?”—Charles Darwin, On the Origin of Species (1859)Rather than question his theory, Darwin pointed to the fact that the process of fossilization is not perfect and is very selective. Therefore, there may be no trace of some organisms, which does not mean that they never existed. Later, many discoveries proved Darwin right and filled some shortcomings in the process of evolution.

importance of a 150 million year old soft tissue fossil

The discovery of a 150 million year old fossil containing soft tissue is notable, as soft tissues generally do not withstand fossilization processes. Only hard tissues such as bones, teeth or shells survive while other biological components rapidly decay after an organism’s death. Therefore this discovery is remarkable, and scientific discoveries have been made from similar cases. Thesis Title ‘Soft tissue and cellular preservation in vertebrate skeletal elements from the Cretaceous to the present.‘:“Soft tissue preservation in deep time allows unique insights into the biology and evolution of extinct organisms.”This discovery may have been possible due to favorable environmental factors, such as rapid burial and lack of oxygen, which would slow the erosion process and allow mineralization. Scientists can now see what was previously inaccessible, such as microscopic tissue and possible molecular remains.

How soft tissue fossils become strong evolutionary biology

Soft-tissue fossils contribute far more to our knowledge of ancient creatures than bones do. The former helps us understand the appearance, behavior and physiology of organisms in a way that bones do not fully cover. Furthermore, for example, soft tissue fossils can tell us something about the nature of skin and muscles or about other bodily functions. The importance of such a discovery is underlined in a report by Department of Surgery and Cancer, Imperial College London: :“Exceptional preservation can shed light on biological data that would otherwise be completely absent from the fossil record.”Scientists use results obtained from comparing preserved specimens with living organisms to trace evolutionary relationships. Thus, the findings support and enrich the theoretical basis of evolutionary science.

Modern discoveries confirm Darwin’s theory

The finding of preserved soft tissues in such an old fossil confirms one of Darwin’s original predictions, that additional evidence would prove his theory correct. While Darwin did not predict the development of technology that would enable scientists to analyze fossils at the microscopic level, the basic premise of his theory still holds true, with the fossil record becoming increasingly more detailed as time goes on.As Dr. Mary SchweitzerA pioneer in the field of molecular paleontology, has noted:“Such findings indicate that biological materials can be preserved for longer periods of time than previously thought.”Such discoveries challenge long-held beliefs about fossilization, meaning that the fossil record is capable of containing large amounts of organic material.

Evolutionary theory strengthened through fossil evidence

More than 150 years after Darwin proposed his theory, fossils such as 150-million-year-old soft tissue fossils provide evidence that further validates Darwin’s theory. Gaps in the fossil record, once considered a weakness in the theory of evolution, are now proving to be one of the most exciting areas of scientific exploration and verification. In addition to expanding our knowledge of extinct species, the 150-million-year-old soft tissue fossil also demonstrates the continued applicability of Darwin’s theory. As scientific technology continues to develop, the evidence for the accuracy of Darwin’s theory becomes increasingly clear.
