Meerut: Professor Dr. Sandeep Mittal, senior ophthalmologist from Uttar Pradesh and former Principal of Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial Medical College, Meerut, has been awarded the prestigious title of “Fellow of the Royal Surgeon” by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, UK for his exceptional contributions to eye care and medical sciences. The honor was given during a grand ceremony on Wednesday, which was attended by distinguished guests.Dr. Mittal started his medical journey in 1976 after completing MS in Ophthalmology from SN Medical College, Agra. Soon after, he started his professional career as a Pool Officer at Dr. Rajendra Prasad Ophthalmology Centre. He later served as a lecturer in Jhansi before transferring to LLRM Medical College, Meerut in 1989.Selected through the Public Service Commission, Dr. Mittal served as Reader from 1989 and Professor from 1993 till his retirement in 2020. Between 1998 and 2010, he headed the Department of Advanced Ophthalmology at LLRM Medical College. He later served as the dean and principal of the institution for three years.During his academic career, Dr. Mittal guided more than 200 postgraduate theses, published more than 80 scientific papers, and made 162 scientific presentations in state, national and international conferences. Reflecting on his teaching career he said that his students taught him as much as he taught them.
अयोध्या जिले के महराजगंज थाना क्षेत्र में शनिवार की सुबह उस समय हड़कंप मच गया जब सुबह की सैर पर निकले एक बुजुर्ग पर हमला कर गंभीर रूप से घायल कर दिया गया। पीड़ित परिवार ने गांव के ही कुछ लोगों पर मारपीट और फायरिंग का भी आरोप लगाया है. घायल बुजुर्ग को पहले स्थानीय स्वास्थ्य केंद्र ले जाया गया, जहां हालत गंभीर होने पर उन्हें मंडलीय अस्पताल दर्शननगर रेफर कर दिया गया। घटना के बाद इलाके में तनाव का माहौल है. परिवार का कहना है कि उन्होंने पहले ही पुलिस और अधिकारियों को अपनी जान के खतरे के बारे में सूचित कर दिया था, लेकिन समय रहते कोई कार्रवाई नहीं की गई.
गांव के रास्ते में रोककर हमला करने का आरोप लगाया
मामला महराजगंज थाना क्षेत्र के तुलसीराम के पुरवा पिलखावां गांव का है. जानकारी के मुताबिक, गांव निवासी महेश तिवारी रोजाना की तरह शनिवार की सुबह टहलने के लिए निकले थे. आरोप है कि इसी दौरान गांव के ही विनोद तिवारी, उनके बेटे श्रेयांश तिवारी और कुछ अन्य लोगों ने उसे रास्ते में रोक लिया और हमला कर दिया. परिजनों के मुताबिक आरोपियों ने महेश तिवारी के साथ बेरहमी से मारपीट की, जिससे उनके दोनों हाथ टूट गए और सिर में गंभीर चोटें आईं. परिजनों का यह भी आरोप है कि हमले के दौरान फायरिंग भी की गयी, जिससे आसपास के लोगों में दहशत फैल गयी.
पुलिस ने घायलों को अस्पताल पहुंचाया
घटना की सूचना मिलते ही डायल 112 पुलिस मौके पर पहुंची और घायल बुजुर्ग को तत्काल सामुदायिक स्वास्थ्य केंद्र पूरा बाजार पहुंचाया। हालत गंभीर देख डॉक्टरों ने उसे दर्शननगर स्थित मंडलीय अस्पताल रेफर कर दिया, जहां उसका इलाज चल रहा है। घटना के बाद से परिजन काफी डरे हुए हैं और आरोपियों के खिलाफ सख्त कार्रवाई की मांग की है. परिजनों का कहना है कि अगर पहले की शिकायत पर कार्रवाई की गई होती तो यह घटना नहीं होती.
जान को खतरा पहले भी जताया गया था
पीड़ित परिवार ने बताया कि 27 अप्रैल को ही पुलिस और वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों को ऑनलाइन शिकायत भेजकर जान को खतरा बताया गया था. इसके बावजूद कोई ठोस कार्रवाई नहीं की गयी. परिवार ने अब सुरक्षा की भी मांग की है. पुलिस अधिकारियों का कहना है कि मामले की जांच की जा रही है और सभी आरोपों की जांच के बाद आवश्यक कानूनी कार्रवाई की जाएगी.

Officials said discussions between the two sides are continuing, with negotiators exchanging proposals on the wording and structure of a potential long-term framework.The proposed interim framework focuses on three immediate steps: lifting the US blockade of Iranian shipping and ports, reopening the Strait of Hormuz to commercial maritime traffic, and ending ongoing military hostilities under the ceasefire agreement.Officials said more contentious issues would be addressed during the proposed 30-day negotiation period, including sanctions relief, the long-term future of Iran’s nuclear program and the release of Iranian financial assets frozen abroad.According to The New York Times, one of the major points of debate in the talks remains Washington’s demands for prior commitments regarding the future of Iran’s nuclear program and its stockpile of highly enriched uranium.Iranian officials said US negotiators are seeking an agreement in principle under which Iran would transfer its enriched uranium reserves to the US, close three nuclear facilities and suspend uranium enrichment activities for 20 years.Officials also said Tehran is committed to not pursuing nuclear weapons and suspending uranium enrichment, although the duration and conditions of any such suspension remain under discussion.Officials said Tehran has instead proposed reducing part of its uranium reserves and transferring the remainder to a third country, potentially Russia.Under Iran’s proposal, uranium enrichment would be suspended for 10 to 15 years, although no agreement has reportedly been reached on the future of the three nuclear facilities.
New Delhi: A Dawoodi Bohra Muslim woman on Thursday questioned the communal practice of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and said the ritual causes physical injury and irreversible physical and mental trauma to minor girls, which is a violation of their health and dignity and an offense under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. Appearing for Masuma Ranalvi, senior advocate Siddharth Luthra told a nine-judge bench led by CJI Surya Kant that the ritual of FGM is performed on girls as young as seven years old, hence, there is no question of the act being consensual, and her parents cannot protest as it may incur the wrath of the religious head of the community, who may ostracize them. The fear of ostracism, which ranges from social boycott to breaking of all economic and social ties with other members of the community, forcibly silences protests against the ritual, Luthra said. A bench of CJI Kant, Justices BV Nagarathna, MM Sundaresh, A Amanullah, Arvind Kumar, AG Masih, PB Varale, R Mahadevan and J Bagchi said individual cases of exclusion can be challenged in civil courts, but doubted whether exclusion used to maintain a sect on religious grounds can be questioned in the court. Justice Bagchi expressed surprise that FGM, which causes injury to the vital organs of young girls, has not yet been legislated by the government, which has the constitutional mandate to bring about social and religious reforms through law. Luthra said, “Where a child is subjected to physical pain, physical alteration, forced participation or mental anguish in the name of religious observance, the case ceases to be one of protected religious autonomy and enters the field of constitutional and criminal scrutiny.” Luthra said, “No sect can claim constitutional protection for a practice that harms minors whose parents and whose actions follow that religious sect may be perpetrators or participants in the harm. Judicial intervention in such cases is not interference in religion but enforcement of the constitutional duty to protect the dignity, physical integrity and future of every child.”
पर्यटन मंत्री सतपाल महाराज ने कहा, पिछले साल की तुलना में इस बार चारधाम यात्रा पर आने वाले श्रद्धालुओं की संख्या में नया रिकॉर्ड बनेगा. यात्रा के लिए बड़ी संख्या में तीर्थयात्री पंजीकरण करा रहे हैं। अब तक यात्रा मार्गों पर जीएमवीएन के विश्राम गृहों में नौ करोड़ रुपये की बुकिंग हो चुकी है।
महाराज ने बताया कि चारधाम यात्रा पर आने वाले श्रद्धालुओं की सुविधा के लिए गढ़वाल मंडल विकास निगम के विश्राम गृहों में 16 फरवरी 2026 से ऑनलाइन बुकिंग शुरू की गई थी. अब तक 9.9 लाख बुकिंग हो चुकी हैं. ये आंकड़ा लगातार बढ़ता जा रहा है. चारधाम यात्रा के लिए ऑनलाइन और ऑफलाइन माध्यम से 30 लाख से अधिक पंजीकरण हो चुके हैं।
इनके दर्शन नौ लाख से अधिक श्रद्धालु कर चुके हैं। ऑनलाइन यात्रा पंजीकरण के लिए पंजीकरणandtouristcare.uk.gov.in या आप टूरिस्टकेयर यूके मोबाइल ऐप का उपयोग कर सकते हैं। इसके अलावा ऋषिकेश, हरिद्वार, विकासनगर में भी ऑफलाइन रजिस्ट्रेशन की सुविधा है.

यात्रा के दौरान चेक पोस्ट पर क्यूआर कोड स्कैन किया जाएगा और बिना रजिस्ट्रेशन वाले यात्रियों को वापस भेज दिया जाएगा. कहा कि 50 वर्ष से अधिक उम्र के श्रद्धालुओं को स्वास्थ्य जांच केंद्र पर अपनी जांच अवश्य करानी चाहिए। उन्होंने तीर्थयात्रियों से धामों में स्वच्छता बनाये रखने में सहयोग का आग्रह किया। धामों की पवित्रता बनाए रखना हम सभी की जिम्मेदारी है।

New Delhi: The Supreme Court Thursday expressed serious apprehension over allowing individuals to challenge religious practices and said it would break every religion and the constitutional court as thousands of people would clog the courts with PILs to quash customs and norms based on self-assessment of these customs. The remarks came from a bench comprising CJI Surya Kant, Justices BV Nagarathna, MM Sundaresh, A Amanullah, Arvind Kumar, AG Masih, PB Varale, R Mahadevan and Joymalya Bagchi, when senior lawyer Raju Ramachandran said that since the Constitution focuses on protecting the fundamental rights of an individual, the constitutional courts must step in if any religious custom or practice violates the rights of an individual. Justice Nagarathna said, “If every person is free to approach the constitutional court to question or challenge religious practices and customs, what will happen to our civilization, which is intrinsically linked to religion?” Justice Sundaresh said, “In such a scenario, every religion and constitutional court will break down as thousands of persons having different views about religion and religious practices will come to the court and disrupt the system. A religious custom or practice may be regressive from one person’s point of view, and may be an essential religious practice for another. How does the court decide who is right? “Should the courts get stuck in adjudicating on religious matters?” He clarified that he did not mean that a person tortured because of a religious practice has no remedy. He can certainly approach the civil courts. In the debate on fundamental rights and faith-based customs, Ramachandran stuck to his opinion that the fundamental rights of the individual cannot be violated through religious customs. “We are a constitutional civilization where nothing can violate fundamental rights. Any violation will give the aggrieved person the right to approach the courts under Article 32 of the Constitution,” he said.

यह भव्य आयोजन 11 मई से शुरू होना था
आयोजन समिति के मुताबिक, भगवान श्री रामलला के भव्य मंदिर के निर्माण के उपलक्ष्य में इस महायज्ञ का आयोजन किया जा रहा है. सरयू तट पर होने वाले इस विशाल धार्मिक आयोजन को लेकर कई दिनों से तैयारियां चल रही थीं. देश के विभिन्न राज्यों से संत-महात्माओं व श्रद्धालुओं के आगमन की योजना थी. इस आयोजन को वैश्विक स्तर पर विशेष महत्व दिया जा रहा था, क्योंकि इसे 9011 तालाबों वाला पहला श्रीराम राज्य महायज्ञ बताया जा रहा था. कार्यक्रम स्थल पर धार्मिक अनुष्ठान, पूजा-अर्चना और संत समागम की भी तैयारी की जा रही है।
आंतरिक समस्याओं के कारण लिया गया निर्णय
महायज्ञ के महासचिव पवन सिंह सेंगर ने बताया कि आयोजन से जुड़ी कुछ आंतरिक समस्याओं के कारण कार्यक्रम को फिलहाल स्थगित करना पड़ा है. उन्होंने कहा कि सभी तैयारियां बेहतर तरीके से पूरी होने के बाद ही नई तारीख की घोषणा की जाएगी. संकल्प आयोजक रघुवंशी भूपेन्द्र प्रताप हनुमान महाराज, महासचिव पवन सिंह सेंगर और प्रचारक अमित भदौरिया ने भक्तों से धैर्य बनाए रखने की अपील की है। उन्होंने कहा कि नई तारीख जल्द ही सार्वजनिक की जाएगी और कार्यक्रम पहले से भी अधिक भव्य तरीके से आयोजित किया जाएगा.
श्रद्धालुओं में दिखी निराशा
महायज्ञ स्थगित होने की खबर मिलते ही रामभक्तों में निराशा फैल गयी. कई श्रद्धालुओं ने पहले से ही अयोध्या आने की तैयारी कर ली थी. स्थानीय लोगों का कहना है कि इस आयोजन को लेकर पूरे इलाके में उत्साह का माहौल था. हालांकि, आयोजन समिति ने आश्वासन दिया है कि सारी व्यवस्थाएं पूरी होने के बाद जल्द ही नई तारीख की घोषणा की जाएगी और श्रद्धालुओं को किसी भी तरह की असुविधा नहीं होने दी जाएगी.
