IPL 2026: Is Varun Chakravarthy’s fault a case of T20 World Cup fatigue?

Varun Chakravarthy’s inconsistent IPL 2026 season could be linked to the mental and physical impact of India’s hectic T20 World Cup-winning campaign earlier this year. According to Dwayne Bravo, the Kolkata Knight Riders spinner probably needed a proper break before jumping straight back into another tough tournament after the World Cup.

it IPL The season has seen several members India’s T20 World Cup-winning team is struggling for rhythm, including Jasprit Bumrah And Arshdeep Singh. Speaking ahead of KKR’s clash against Delhi Capitals on May 8, Bravo backed Varun and insisted that the spinner’s quality was never in doubt despite uneven returns this season.

“Yeah, I think in sports, especially when you play at this level, everything is very result-oriented and sometimes people get very emotional,” Bravo said.

“A player like Varun, who is a world-class spinner, has just come out of the World Cup, which was also a very busy tournament.”

“So a break at the right time is always important, but no one ever questioned his ability because when you are so good, it is only a matter of time before he gets back into form.”

Bravo also highlighted how mentally draining a tournament like the IPL can be, especially so soon after international duty.

“The group supports him a lot, and mental breaks are also very important, especially in a tournament like the IPL where there are a lot of games, high pressure, and the best players compete against each other.”

“No matter who you are as a player, you will go through these moments. There are a lot of other quality players struggling this season as well.”

conversation about fatigue IPL 2026 has quietly become one of the big topics, especially around the players who were at the heart of India’s T20 World Cup win.

How has Varun Chakraborty’s performance been in IPL 2026?

Varun’s IPL 2026 season has felt like two completely different campaigns mashed together.

The KKR spinner had a very poor start to the season, going wicketless in his first three matches against Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians, which also included expensive figures of 0/48.

At one point questions were raised whether the batsmen had finally discovered him.

But when criticism started increasing, Varun made a strong comeback.

He took 10 wickets in the next four matches and played a major role in reviving KKR’s campaign, including a crucial three-wicket spell against SRH.

That inconsistency has largely reflected their T20 World Cup journey as well.

Varun finished the tournament as the joint-highest wicket-taker with Bumrah with 14 wickets, but after dominating the group stage, his impact waned significantly during the Super 8s and knockout stage.

Are India’s World Cup stars running on empty?

After the T20 World Cup, Varun is not the only Indian star who is struggling with a difficult IPL season.

Bumrah has taken just three wickets at an average of 109.67 in 10 matches for Mumbai Indians, while Arshdeep has had an unusually inconsistent season for Punjab Kings despite taking 12 wickets in 11 matches.

Concerns about burnout have already been raised by several former cricketers this season.

While some coaches have played down the issue publicly, experts such as Ravi Shastri have pointed to excessive workload and lack of recovery time following India’s World Cup title-winning campaign.

The schedule has not given players time to mentally reset before returning to another high-pressure tournament filled with constant travel, scrutiny and expectations.

And the fatigue of the players who had set out to win the World Cup for India just a few months ago is now visible in different ways during IPL 2026.

48 hours, 1 thousand teams, 482 arrests: Delhi Police caught suspects linked to criminal gangs in India, Pakistan
Delhi Police arrests 482 suspects in 48-hour massive crackdown targeting Indian and Pakistani crime syndicates

New Delhi: Making a major dent in the terror-gangster nexus operating in the city and neighboring states, Delhi Police has concluded a 48-hour operation with the arrest of 482 suspects linked to criminal outfits in India and Pakistan.Delhi Special Commissioner (Law and Order) Ravindra Singh Yadav said the operation, which ran from May 5-7, involved over 1,000 teams deployed at 1,014 locations in Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, effectively shutting down the lifelines of major criminal syndicates.Apart from the arrests, the Special Cell and the districts police seized a large cache of illegal firearms and equipment: 141 pistols, 212 cartridges, 79 knives and 24 vehicles. Financial and physical lifelines were further broken with the recovery of Rs 19 lakh in cash, 19 kg of narcotic drugs, 1,234 liquor bottles and 31 mobile phones, which are likely to contain digital blueprints for future operations.According to Additional CP (Special Cell) Pramod Kushwaha, the operation was preceded by in-depth identification of the gang members and their associated facilitators – from shooters and finance providers to SIM card and shelter providers – ensuring that the raids strike at the heart of these criminal ecosystems.Statistical analysis shows that Zone-II of the police saw the highest activity with 537 raids, while the Special Cell conducted 310 targeted strikes against the most dangerous elements of these syndicates.Perhaps the most shocking breakthrough involves the Shehzad Bhatti network, an alleged ISI-sponsored proxy suspected of coordinating anti-national activities. This module is openly recruiting foot soldiers through social media to install IP-based CCTV cameras, monitor sensitive installations and coordinate the delivery of weapons and narcotics. One of the nine network associates arrested is a resident of Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir. Most seriously, investigators revealed that members of this module were tasked to execute a high-risk conspiracy to carry out random firing on security personnel, especially in North India and Delhi-NCR.

The group had already conducted reconnaissance in several sensitive areas of Delhi, indicating that it could prevent a major terror attack as the operation reached its final stages. The operation also hit traditional organized crime fronts and arrested active members of several major gangs. This included seven members of Kapil Sangwan (alias Nandu) gang, four members of Sandeep Kala Jathedi syndicate and three members of Hashim Baba group. Other notable arrests included Tillu, Kaushal Chaudhary and members of the Naveen Bali-Neeraj Bawana gang. Some of these arrested individuals were also found to be part of a sophisticated arms smuggling network working directly for the Bhatti module.Taking cognizance of the organized crime-terrorist nexus, the Special Cell has added a new dimension to its enforcement strategy, going beyond traditional policing and eliminating mission-mode initiatives sponsored by foreign entities.Kushwaha said the 48-hour offensive was a concerted effort to disrupt and destroy the Shehzad Bhatti network, an integral part of Delhi’s security. “The arrest of individuals like Shoyab Khan and Ravi Kashyap from Uttar Pradesh, as well as associates from Punjab and Gujarat, exposes the pan-India footprint of these organized syndicates,” he said.

Controversial streamer Nico ‘Sneekko’ KNd Balinthzi is making headlines once again after posting a series of worrying messages on X during and after his trip to Australia. The latest post shared on May 7, 2026 said, “I am ready to die.The message came just hours after Australian media reports claimed the streamer was banned from the country for allegedly spreading hate speech. The situation quickly escalated after Sky News Australia aired a segment on 5 May in which Sneekko was called “blatantly anti-Semitic” and questioned why he was allowed into Australia. Shortly after that report, Australian Home Affairs Minister Troy Burke reportedly issued a lifetime ban against the streamer. According to the report, authorities believe Sneoko came to Australia to “spread hatred”.However, Sneekko strongly denied those claims online. He said he was not deported and insisted he returned to the United States by his own choice. Hours after posting “I’m ready to die,” he added another message on X, saying, “Federal agents were stalking me in Australia.”The streamer had traveled to Australia after finishing his South East Asia tour. During that trip, he also spent time with friends, including former New Zealand rugby player and boxer Sonny Bill Williams.

Sneekko repeated. obituary post After Australia controversy, more questions were raised on X

The recent reports from Australia aren’t the first time Sneekko has shared dark and cryptic posts online. In fact, for nearly two weeks, the streamer has repeatedly posted messages focused on death. On April 27, while traveling in Southeast Asia, Sneekko wrote, “You only live once, but you will die forever.” Then, on May 4, he posted another message saying, “Every soul will have to taste death.”Two days later, on May 6, the online creator shared an even more direct statement with followers: “You’re gonna die.”The timing of those posts has now received more attention because they occurred just before and after reports from Australia. When Sky News Australia linked him to controversial public figures such as Kanye West and Andrew Tate in criticizing the government for allowing him into the country, Sneekko posted another message saying, “I’m not afraid of you.”As of now, Sneekko hasn’t explained what exactly he means by the repeated death-related posts. He has also not shared any evidence to support his claim that he was followed by federal agents while he was in Australia.Online reaction remains divided. Some followers believe the streamer is trying to send a deeper message about pressure and public criticism. Others think that these posts are just to attract attention during a major controversy during his trip to Australia. At the moment, the situation continues to escalate online, especially as Sneekko keeps sharing short and mysterious statements without giving full information behind them.

Supreme Court says it wishes appointment of judges should be as quick as EC India News

Supreme Court says that I wish the appointment of judges should also be done as soon as the EC.

New Delhi: The appointment of Gyanesh Kumar (now CEC) and SS Sandhu as election commissioners in 2023 — who were shortlisted, cleared and appointed within a day — were the focus of the hearing on Thursday. Supreme CourtWhat she “wanted” was that the government should show equal promptness in the appointment of judges. Kumar and Sandhu’s appointments were the first by a panel of the PM, a Union Cabinet minister and the LOP under the new law – the CEC and other Election Commissioners (Appointment, Conditions of Service and Term of Office) Act, 2023 – the legality of which is being examined by the SC. Asserting that the independence of the EC is as important as the independence of the judiciary, the petitioners argued before a bench of Justices Dipankar Datta and Satish Chandra Sharma that the executive and the government should not play a major role in the posting of poll panels, as it would result in the appointment of “yes men”, which would seriously affect the impartiality of the EC, which is the bedrock of the republic and democracy. Senior advocate Vijay Hansaria, appearing for petitioner Jaya Thakur, told the bench that Kumar and Sandhu were appointed without effective consultation. He said the names were not shortlisted till March 13, 2023 and the LoP was given a list of 200 names which were being considered, but the selection committee met and shortlisted six names the very next day. “This is what happens when you give complete power to one person. How can the Leader of the Opposition be expected to look into so many names in a day?” He said.Responding to their plea, the bench said, “We can only say that we want such speed to be shown in the appointment of judges. Especially in the appointment of HC judges.” However, it refused to give credibility to Hansaria’s allegation that he was appointed just a day before the SC hearing on March 15 to sabotage the court proceedings, as no evidence was placed to prove the allegation. Senior advocates Sanjay Parikh, Shadan Farasat and Prashant Bhushan, appearing for the other petitioners, argued that the law was passed by Parliament without proper discussion and when it was passed, 141 opposition MPs were under suspension. He said that this law has been brought to cancel the decision of the Supreme Court by which independence was provided in the appointment process of CEC and Election Commissioners. The 2023 Supreme Court judgment had said that appointments were to be made by a panel comprising the PM, the Leader of the Opposition (LOP) and the CJI, but under the new law, the CJI was replaced by a Union cabinet minister in the committee. Bhushan submitted that every political party in office tried to use the Commission for political gains and that is why a political party while in opposition shouted for freeing the Election Commission from government interference but when it came to office it refrained from taking decisions. He said that the law for the appointment was made only after the intervention of the Supreme Court in 2023. Without naming former Law Minister Arun Jaitley, who once coined the term “tyranny of the unelected” for judiciary activism and interference in policy matters, Justice Dutta said, “I remember an MP who said that the tyranny of the unelected. This should be considered equivalent to tyranny of the elected people.” The bench said, “Whoever comes to office is doing the same thing. It is unfortunate for the country. I watched a BBC video on Dr. Ambedkar. Within three years of the Constitution being made, he had said that democracy is not working in this country.”

‘We’ll hit them harder’: Trump warns Iran of tough military action after 3 US ships come under fire in Hormuz

'We'll hit them harder': Trump warns Iran of tough military action after 3 US ships come under fire in Hormuz

us President donald trump Three US naval destroyers came under fire while passing through the Strait of Hormuz, but they were unharmed during the incident, it was claimed on Thursday. He also warned of strong military action if Iran did not agree to sign the deal quickly. In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote: “Three world-class American destroyers just exited the Strait of Hormuz under fire, very successfully. The three destroyers were unharmed, but the Iranian attackers took heavy damage. They were completely destroyed along with several smaller boats, which are being used to replace their completely destroyed navy.”The incident comes amid rising tensions in and around the Strait of Hormuz, a key global shipping route, where both the United States and Iran have recently reported attacks and counter-attacks. In his post, Trump described the attack as intercepting missiles fired at US ships and destroying drones in the air, describing it as ‘like a butterfly falling on its grave’.“Missiles were fired at our destroyers, and they were easily shot down. Similarly, the drones came, and were incinerated while still in the air. They fell into the sea so beautifully, just like a butterfly falling on its grave!” He wrote further.Issuing a stern warning to Iran, Trump said the country would face more intense military action if it did not agree to a deal soon.“In the future if they do not quickly sign their agreement we will expel them even more harshly and much more violently,” he wrote.Describing it as a country led by ‘madmen’, he also said that Iran is not a ‘normal country’.Trump wrote, “A normal country would have allowed these destructive planes to pass, but Iran is not a normal country. They are led by LUNATICS.” He also reiterated his earlier claims that Tehran should never be allowed to possess nuclear weapons.Trump also said the three destroyers would now return to end what he described as a US naval blockade in the region. He wrote, “Our three destroyers, with their wonderful crews, will now rejoin our naval blockade, which is truly a ‘wall of steel’.”The comments come hours after reports of military exchanges in and around the Strait of Hormuz. According to US Central Command, US forces targeted Iranian military facilities responsible for ‘unprovoked’ missile, drone and small boat attacks against US warships passing through the strait. The US military said no US property was damaged during the incident. However, Iranian state media accused the United States of ceasefire violations by attacking Iranian territory and civilian coastal areas near Qeshm Island, Bandar Khamir and Sirik, and warned of a ‘crushing response’ to any further aggression.

10,546 farmers to commit suicide in 2024, 2% less than last year: Data

New Delhi: The latest report of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) said that a total of 10,546 people associated with the agriculture sector (including 4,633 farmers/farmers and 5,913 agricultural laborers) died by suicide during 2024, which is 6.2% of the total suicide victims (1,70,746) in the country. However, the number of such suicides declined by more than 2% in 2024 compared to 2023, when 10,786 people died by suicide, making it the second consecutive year of decline. In 2023, the numbers had declined by more than 4% compared to 2022. State-wise data shows that Maharashtra is recording the highest number of such suicides (3,824), followed by Karnataka (2,971), Madhya Pradesh (835), Andhra Pradesh (780) and Tamil Nadu (503). According to the 2011 census, about 26 crore people (about 55% of India’s workforce) were employed in agriculture, of which about 12 crore were farmers and 14 crore were agricultural labourers. The NCRB clarified that the data only reflects the profession of people who died by suicide and has no connection with the cause of suicide. Also, the higher numbers in states like Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh correspond to areas where farmers mainly cultivate cash crops like cotton and sugarcane.People distressed by the failure or low production of such crops are forced to turn to moneylenders to meet their cash needs, and some of them even take extreme measures. Crop insurance, affordable agricultural loans and increased coverage of income support schemes may have led to a slight decline in the number of suicides.
