IPL 2026: No power, no pace - Delhi Capitals' season unravels at home

New Delhi: Arun Jaitley Stadium was painted yellow on Tuesday evening. Everywhere one looked, in every stand where Delhi celebrated its best ever performance, a group of yellow jerseys was visible. They were there in groups and in small numbers, but their presence was difficult to ignore. At one point, slogans of ‘Dhoni, Dhoni’ were echoed. Ironically, the former India captain, or ‘Thala’ as he is more fondly called Chennai Super Kings The loyalist, has not even traveled to the capital and has not played a game yet in this IPL season. At the other end, barring a small section of the DC contingent, Delhi Capitals fans were conspicuous by their absence. The blue and red players of the home team had little to show and no reason to erupt during Match 48 of IPL 2026.Go beyond limits with our YouTube channel. Subscribe now! After winning the toss and electing to bat first, DC never got going and only late performances from Tristan Stubbs (38 off 31 balls) and Samir Rizvi (40 off 24) helped them reach a respectable 155/7.led by chennai super kings sanju samsonThe top order’s 87 off 52 balls and Kartik Sharma’s unbeaten 41 off 31 took the total to 15 balls and 8 wickets remaining. As a result, DC are seventh in the IPL standings with one win in the last five matches or two wins in the last eight. They are better than only Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians And this time Lucknow Super Giants.Apart from having low hopes of reaching the playoffs, what this group has in common is their poor home record. MI (home win record 33.3 percent), KKR (25 percent), DC (20 percent), and LSG (0 percent) have had very poor home runs, which goes along with their overall poor seasons. In contrast, CSK, who are placed sixth after consecutive wins, have the third-best home record (60 percent win record at home). The four teams in the playoff places – Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals – all have strong home win records of 75 per cent, 80 per cent, 60 per cent and 60 per cent respectively.Delhi Capitals have not helped their cause with the variety of surfaces on offer, while conditions have been inconsistent due to unseasonal rain and cool temperatures in the evening. The afternoon match against Punjab Kings was flat and ended with 529 runs. Then, against Royal Challengers Bangalore, DC were bowled out for just 75 runs on a lively track. On Tuesday, a surface that was yet to be used was expected to be slow by DC skipper Axar Patel. However, towards the end, they saw the opposite and the well-set batsmen needed time. While DC barely got any, CSK stitched an unbeaten 114-run partnership with Samson and Karthik.Delhi Capitals coach Hemang Badani He admitted that he has struggled in most departments and needs to adapt better to the conditions and pitches.“We don’t control the pitch. The surfaces are controlled bcci Guidelines to ensure neutrality,” he said in the post-match media conference.“You play what you are given. Yes, it has been a bit unexpected on our home ground. There was a very high score in one game, and spin helped in the other.“But it’s a matter of all teams. You have to adapt and find ways to win,” he said.Badani said the need of the hour is to win all their remaining four matches, two of which will be at home. But for this there is a need to remove discrepancies.“One day, we bowl well but don’t bat well. Another day, we bat well but fall short in other areas.”“At this level, you need at least 60 to 70 per cent contribution from players on a day. That is missing,” he said.

Quote of the Day by Usain Bolt: ‘I don’t think the fastest man on Earth’s words of inspiration are limited’ international sports news

Quote of the Day by Usain Bolt: 'I don't think the fastest man on Earth's words of inspiration are limited'

“I don’t think there are boundaries” is a short line, but when placed next to career it takes on more importance. usain boltThe fastest man on Earth, whose performances not only set records in the 100 meters and 200 meters but also made people’s belief in those distances physically possible. Bolt holds the world records of 9.58 seconds in the 100 metres, 19.19 seconds in the 200 metres, and 36.84 seconds in the 4×100 meters relay, which were set between 2009 and 2012, and is an eight-time Olympic gold medalist as well as the only sprinter to win the 100 meters and 200 meters double at three consecutive Olympic Games in 2008. 2012 and 2016. He rose from a small town in Jamaica to become a global sports celebrity, known for his personality as much as his speed, but these results were built over years that included setbacks, injuries and adjustments that were not always visible when races were replayed.

what stood behind the demonstration

Bolt’s career began with scoliosis, a curvature of the spine that caused his right leg to be approximately half an inch shorter than his left, creating an imbalance that affected his stride and placed constant strain on his hamstrings and lower back. That imbalance meant he had to adapt his technique, and biomechanical studies showed that to compensate he hit the ground with about 14% more force on one side. Managing this required constant work away from the track, including core strengthening and regular chiropractic treatment, and his early years included frequent hamstring and back injuries that disrupted training and competition. Those details explain why his dominance didn’t come by a smooth path, even though it often looked that way at the finish line.

Usain Bolt on his track greatness: "I wanted to set high standards and I did"

Bolt’s first Olympic appearance came in Athens in 2004 when he was 17. He entered the 200 meters with high hopes but competed despite a hamstring injury and was eliminated in the first round of the heats. The result did not match the attention that had followed him in the Games, and it set the tone for a period where ability and performance did not always match.A different kind of disruption came at the 2011 World Championships, where he made a false start in the 100 m final and was disqualified, losing the chance to defend his title in one of the most notable moments of his career. Years later, in 2017, his last appearance at a major championship ended with a hamstring tear during the 4×100 meters relay, forcing him to leave the track before the race was completed. Those moments sit alongside the records, not apart from them, and they show why his approach to borders was not principled.

How is that mentality described?

Bolt has often emphasized that success depends not on speed alone, but on training, focus and confidence applied over time. His quote, “I don’t think about limitations,” reflects an approach to both competition and preparation, where belief in ability comes before results and is supported by the work required to reach that level.

He has spoken of focusing on his own goals rather than outside pressure or competition, even in races where expectations were highest, and this approach runs through his career from his early days in Jamaica to his Olympic appearances. This line is often repeated because it is simple, but it is associated with a way of working that requires consistency and mental discipline as well as physical ability.

Where Bolt’s Line Becomes Useful Outside of Sports

The reason “I don’t think limitations stick beyond running” is that most people encounter limitations long before they find success, and those limitations are usually quietly introduced through repetition rather than failure.Bolt’s career went against physical limitations in the literal sense, but this line also applies to the smaller limitations that people absorb early in life from parents, teachers, workplaces, or even their own past mistakes. Through admonitions to remain realistic, choose the safest option, avoid unnecessary risk, or stay within what feels familiar, those limits are often introduced quietly and repeatedly, until people begin to treat those limits as facts rather than suggestions. Over time, this thinking begins to dictate which jobs they apply for, what risks they take, and which parts of themselves they stop from developing. A student who struggles in math at age 14 may carry the label of being “bad at numbers” for years, without ever checking whether this is actually true. Someone who stutters during a presentation at work may quietly decide that he or she is “not a public speaking person” and avoid situations that would force improvement. A person who grows up hearing that business ownership is only for the rich or well-connected will never attempt it, even if he has the skills to build something consistently over time. Bolt’s quote goes against this very “box”. The box feels safe because it protects people from embarrassment and failure, but it also fixes them in place. Another part of the quote becomes clear from the way the problems are dealt with. Most people instinctively ask “Can I do this?” Before they even begin something difficult, which usually turns the situation into a judgment about capability before any work is done. Bolt’s mindset changes the question a bit. Instead of asking if something is possible, the focus turns to how it can be done. That difference matters under normal circumstances. A student preparing for an examination stops considering a weak subject as proof of his incompetence and starts looking for a way to improve it chapter by chapter. Someone trying to change careers stops focusing on whether they are a natural fit for the industry and starts identifying what skills or abilities they lack. A small business owner facing losses stops seeing the situation as a judgment on the business and begins to look at what can actually be adjusted, whether that means pricing, suppliers, or marketing. That thinking was reflected repeatedly in Bolt’s own career. He didn’t become the fastest man in history by looking at his early injuries, scoliosis or uneven strides and deciding where the ceiling was. He and his team looked for ways to manage those problems well in order to continue working. There’s a reason this quote connects so strongly with people struggling with pressure or self-doubt. Bolt’s line shows that limits are often accepted too quickly, especially during stressful periods where the current situation begins to seem permanent. His career progressed through injuries, false starts and setbacks, but those moments did not become the definitive definition of what would come next. That thought keeps appearing continuously in ordinary life. A tough year at university does not automatically define one’s intelligence. Losing an opportunity does not close the doors to a career forever. Struggling in the early stages of a business does not mean that the business is impossible. Bolt’s quote doesn’t guarantee success, but it challenges the tendency to treat temporary situations as permanent ceilings. An important part of Bolt’s approach is learning to be your own gatekeeper, paying attention to how you talk to yourself in private. Thoughts like “Maybe I’m not cut out for this” or “People like me don’t do this kind of work” can become silent routines if repeated over and over again. Bolt’s method goes directly against that pattern, focusing not on blind faith but on refusing to close the door on yourself before the work begins.

Assembly election results: Wave of change in three states, two Chief Ministers and 50 ministers lost

New Delhi: Big political figures faced defeat in the latest round of assembly elections, with voters in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Kerala “voting for change”, with more than 50 ministers – including two sitting chief ministers – from other states and one union territory sidelining several high-profile challengers. The shock was felt the most in West Bengal. A total of 22 ministers of the TMC government lost their seats, including CM Mamata Banerjee, who faced assembly defeat for the second consecutive time. Banerjee lost in Bhawanipur to Suvendu Adhikari, the same opponent who defeated her in a close contest in Nandigram in 2021.This defeat extends inside the cabinet. Thirteen cabinet ministers, including Banerjee, lost, as did five ministers of state with independent charge. Prominent names who failed to retain their seats include Swapan Debnath, Pradeep Kumar Majumdar, Bratya Basu and Arup Biswas.A similar dramatic churning was seen in Tamil Nadu also. CM MK Stalin lost the Kolathur seat, which he held since 2011, to TVK’s VS Babu. The election setback hit 14 other ministers in his cabinet, including Finance Minister Palanivel Thiaga Rajan and Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi. In Kerala, CM Pinarayi Vijayan retained his Dharmadam seat, but 13 of his ministers lost, including Health Minister Veena George and Education and Labor Minister V Sivankutty.Other prominent losers were Deputy Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Gaurav Gogoi, who was defeated by BJP’s Hitendra Nath Goswami in Jorhat assembly constituency by a margin of 23,182 votes. Attempting to take on Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma while trying to maintain the political legacy of his father, three-time Assam CM Tarun Gogoi, he was unable to convert his parliamentary presence into victory at the state level.Overall, the results underlined a broad anti-incumbency wave, indicating that voters were willing to decisively reset the political equations across all regions.

Home (dis)advantage? After 4 losses in 5 matches, DC coach regrets Delhi’s unpredictable pitches

Delhi Capitals’ troubles continued at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi after losing their fourth home game of the Indian Premier League 2026 season. DC has played five home matches so far this season, out of which they have lost four.

Apart from their win in their first home game of the season against Mumbai Indians, DC have lost every single match at the Kotla, adding to their troubles this season. Barring the Gujarat Titans game, DC have lost almost all of the four matches they have lost.

DC at home: 5 games, 4 losses

In the day’s play against Punjab Kings, on a flat deck, DC lost after scoring 264 runs – one of the highest scores in IPL history. In the next match against Royal Challengers Bangalore, DC got a slightly seaming wicket, restricting them to just 75 runs.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood performed tremendously in that game, leading to DC’s dreadful defeat on April 27.

On Tuesday, when they returned to Kotla once again, DC won the toss and elected to bat first, hoping the pitch would slow down in the second innings. The reality turned out to be the opposite Sanju Samson leads Chennai Super Kings to victory by eight wickets.

Delhi Capitals head coach Hemang Badani, in the post-match press conference, lamented that they have not been able to understand the pitches this season. Badani said DC did not have control over the surfaces, as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) oversees the wickets to ensure neutrality. IPL.

Badani said after the match, “As much as I would like to think that we have control over the surfaces we want to play on, there is a clear mandate from the BCCI. They are the ones who set the guidelines to ensure neutrality, that there is no local advantage. You play what you are presented with. Yes, there has been a bit of up-and-down in understanding what we are going to get. One game was 75, another was 265, then there was a surface that went around. Gone.”

The coach called on his team to improve their performance in the last four matches of the tournament. DC are set to play two of their remaining four matches at home and will hope to climb to a more respectable position in the points table.

Badani said, “I think collectively we need to play better. I won’t single out one person. In one game, we scored 265 runs and couldn’t defend. In the other, we lost by one run. In this game, we lost five wickets. So it’s not about one person. As a team, we need to play better cricket. That’s the reality.”

DC is currently placed seventh in the league table after 10 matches. If they lose to Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday, May 8, they are in danger of slipping to eighth place.

70% H-1B approvals from India in FY 2025 revealed in new report, US senator surprised

वित्त वर्ष 2025 में भारत से 70% H-1B स्वीकृतियां नई रिपोर्ट में सामने आईं, अमेरिकी सीनेटर हैरान

A new USCIS report shows that 70% of H-1B approvals in FY 2025 were from Indian applicants.

Senator Eric Schmidt expressed surprise at the latest official report on H-1B for FY 2025, where India tops the list of countries with 283,772 approvals, followed by China with 49,161 approvals. The senator wrote, sharing excerpts from the report, “While Washington pats itself on the back, American workers are told to “up-skill” or be replaced by H-1B hires. The entire system is designed to let companies take advantage of the law while American graduates and workers pay the price.” Blaming Big Tech, Schmidt said they are encouraging this despicable practice by laying off American workers.“An ex-visa officer in India shares dirty secret: 70-90% of Indian applicants cheat the system with fake credentials. Then, Indian workers hire themselves, eliminating American jobs. “Once they’re in, they stay, they bring in more, while the American talent is left out,” Schmutt said, citing earlier interviews with US Foreign Service officer Mahwash Siddiqui to make the case.

On Chinese H-1Bs, Schmidt said the Chinese are flooding sensitive science and technology roles and through them the CCP is stealing US IP and spying on American companies. “Why should the American people lose their jobs for funding CCP crimes?”Immigration entrepreneur James Blunt spoke about the numbers and the panic, saying it was “very low for a trillion dollar economy”. “So we went from a ‘flood of millions’ to ~400,000 approvals… with ~70% of people here already renewing. That’s very low for a trillion-dollar economy. If the argument requires inflated numbers to work, it’s probably not a strong argument to begin with. Although I appreciate you posting the actual data, it tells a very different story,” Blunt said, responding to Schmidt’s post. Said that India’s approved H-1B number is like a few high schools. The value of people and “not flooding the market”.
