In a major update to visitors’ visas, the US Consulate in Kolkata announced that it is launching priority slots for parents aged 50 and above who want to visit their children living legally in the US. “We are helping lower wait times for eligible travelers with established relationships and verified intentions,” the announcement said. The Consulate called it “American first in family values.”Kolkata Consulate also announced a new visa scheduling system for verified business travelers. “The Kolkata Consulate is introducing a new visa scheduling system that puts legitimate business travelers at the front of the queue. “Supporting trade, investment, and economic growth between the US and India: because when trade grows, America grows,” he declared.B1/B2 visa applicants have recently started seeing higher rejection rates, as visa experts have observed that visa officers are doubly emphasizing that these tourist or business visa applicants have strong ties to India and will not settle in the US.Before the official announcement, visa expert Priyesh Sharma said that these new categories were visible only for accounts selecting embassy/consulate as Kolkata. Sharma said the Consulate opened four new categories under B1/B2:
- Business Professional (conditions apply)
- Parents visiting children with legal status (conditions apply)
- General Tourism and Travel (open to all applicants without record of refusal)
- Recent Visa Rejection (24 months)
“I can’t really say what could be the motive behind this and whether it will soon be implemented on all other consulates/embassies, but I guess it will be used as an important dataset to manage the large number of applications for slot allocation and their administrative functions. It’s not that when you apply for a new visa, the officer is not aware of your previous denials, but by bringing a category they will just be able to differentiate between fresh vs duplication. And there may even be a separate internal SOP for those with past disapproval,” Sharma said.

प्रेस कॉन्फ्रेंस के दौरान मुस्कुराते हुए अखिलेश यादव ने कहा कि एक बहुत ही जानकार ज्योतिषी और एआई पंडित उनके संपर्क में आए हैं. उन्होंने केदारेश्वर मंदिर की भी चर्चा की. अखिलेश ने बताया कि पंडित जी दिमाग पढ़ सकते हैं. उन्होंने दावा किया कि पंडित जी ने उनसे कहा था कि तुम जो भी लिखोगे, मैं उसे पूरा करूंगा. अखिलेश ने बताया कि उन्होंने अपने रजिस्टर पर सिर्फ दो चीजें लिखीं. पहला, समाजवादी पार्टी की सरकार बनाना और दूसरा, उत्तर प्रदेश को खुशहाली की राह पर ले जाना। उन्होंने कहा कि पंडित जी ने बिना देखे ही दोनों बातें सही बता दीं. इस घटना का जिक्र करते हुए अखिलेश ने कहा कि अब पंडित जी जो कहेंगे वही करेंगे.
हम नए समाजवादी हैं
हल्के-फुल्के अंदाज में अखिलेश यादव ने कहा कि अगर पंडित जी कहेंगे बड़े बाल रखो तो बड़े बाल रखूंगा, अगर कहेंगे बाल कटवाओ तो कटवा दूंगा. यदि आपसे कहा जाए कि अपना दाहिना पैर आगे करके बाहर निकलें, तो आप ऐसा करेंगे। उन्होंने मजाकिया अंदाज में कहा कि अगर पंडित जी कहेंगे कि घर से मत निकलो तो नहीं निकलूंगा. जब उनसे पूछा गया कि समाजवादी ऐसी बातों पर यकीन नहीं करते तो उन्होंने कहा, ‘हम नये समाजवादी हैं.’ उन्होंने यह भी दावा किया कि 2012 की तरह 2027 में भी समाजवादी पार्टी की सरकार बनेगी.
केदारेश्वर मंदिर के लिए दान अभियान की घोषणा
प्रेस कॉन्फ्रेंस में अखिलेश यादव ने केदारेश्वर मंदिर का खास जिक्र किया. उन्होंने कहा कि राम मंदिर की तरह अब केदारेश्वर मंदिर के लिए भी बीजेपी नेताओं और सनातन धर्मावलंबियों को पत्र लिखकर चंदा मांगा जाएगा. उन्होंने कहा कि भगवान सबके हैं. इस दौरान उन्होंने बजरंगबली और शिव शक्ति रेखा का भी जिक्र किया. राजनीतिक जानकारों का मानना है कि समाजवादी पार्टी अब धार्मिक और आध्यात्मिक मुद्दों को भी अपनी चुनावी रणनीति का हिस्सा बना रही है.

New Delhi: West Bengal Governor RN Ravi on Thursday dissolved the state assembly as well as the Mamata government cabinet ahead of the formation of the new government after the recently concluded assembly elections.According to a government release issued from Lok Bhavan, Kolkata, the Governor exercised powers under sub-clause (b) of clause (2) of Article 174 of the Constitution of India to dissolve the Assembly with effect from May 7.“The order has come into force in accordance with the constitutional provisions contained under Article 174(2)(b) of the Constitution of India,” the release said.
The dissolution comes after the BJP won a landslide victory in the assembly elections and formed its first government in the state.

SEBI closes trading platforms with access to risk mitigation, asks exchanges to strengthen contingency system
Market regulator SEBI on Thursday closed the Investor Risk Reduction Access (IRRA) platform for stock brokers with immediate effect, saying the system has become redundant due to lack of robust cyber security, disaster recovery and business continuity mechanisms in the securities market, PTI reported.The IRRA platform, launched on October 1, 2023, was introduced to provide brokers with an alternative access route for trading during disruption in their trading services.However, Sebi said that several technology-driven reforms implemented in recent years have significantly improved the operational flexibility of stock brokers.These include improving Business Continuity Planning and Disaster Recovery (BCP-DR) norms, strengthened cyber security and cyber resilience frameworks, implementation of Market Security Operations Center (M-SOC) and technical disruption management framework.According to the regulator, brokers have also adopted advanced technological systems to enable the emergence of independent cold sites for business continuity as well as smooth transition between primary and alternate operational sites during disruptions.SEBI further said that stock exchanges already provide a backup mechanism through the Contingency Pool Trading Facility, which allows brokers to close open positions of clients during operational disruption through dedicated exchange-connected terminals.The regulator said the exchanges informed Sebi that the IRRA platform has become “structurally redundant” as brokers have not used it since its launch.“Since its inception, the platform has not been accessed by stock brokers, mainly due to the implementation of strong regulatory measures, significant technological innovations within the trading operations and availability of contingent pool trading facility,” Sebi said in its circular.“Accordingly, based on the feedback from stakeholders and the above factors, it has been decided to shut down the IRRA platform with immediate effect,” it said.SEBI has also advised stock exchanges to review and strengthen the contingent pool trading framework.

‘TMC thief’: Mahua Moitra faces anti-Trinamool slogans on flight, blames ‘BJP culture’ india news
New Delhi: Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra shared a video on Thursday showing a group of men on a plane raising anti-TMC slogans against him and urging Civil Aviation Minister K Ram Mohan Naidu to put him on the no-fly list.Moitra said that after the Sanghis made the video viral on social media, someone forwarded this video to them. The incident occurred after the Indigo flight from Kolkata to Delhi landed in the national capital.“Alert! I went to Delhi today on official work to attend the meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence. Was on seat 1F on 6E 719. 4-6 people boarded in a group and took a peek at me and went to the back of the plane. When the flight landed and before the doors opened they did the same and filmed it. This is not “civil anger”. This is harassment and a violation of my safety on the plane. उत्तराखंड समाचार: 12 साल से फरार राजस्थान का वांछित अपराधी और ₹20,000 का इनामी अपराधी देहरादून में गिरफ्तार।
उत्तराखंड एसटीएफ ने राजस्थान के 20 हजार रुपये के इनामी शातिर अपराधी को देहरादून से गिरफ्तार किया है। आरोपी 2014 में राजस्थान में डकैती और अपहरण की वारदात को अंजाम देने के बाद से फरार था. एसएसपी एसटीएफ अजय सिंह ने बताया कि बाहरी राज्यों के अपराधियों के बारे में जानकारी जुटाने के लिए एक विशेष टीम का गठन किया गया था.
जांच के दौरान एसटीएफ को जानकारी मिली कि राजस्थान के बांसवाड़ा जिले में दर्ज लूट और अपहरण के मामले में वांछित देवेश मोर्या देहरादून में सिक्योरिटी गार्ड की नौकरी कर रहा है. आरोपी पर राजस्थान पुलिस ने 20 हजार रुपये का इनाम घोषित कर रखा था और वह पिछले 12 साल से फरार था.
गोपनीय सूचना के आधार पर एसटीएफ ने कैंट थाना क्षेत्र में छापा मारकर आरोपी देवेश मोर्या पुत्र नंद लाल मोर्या निवासी न्यू वसंत विहार देहरादून को गिरफ्तार कर लिया। आवश्यक कानूनी कार्रवाई के बाद उसे राजस्थान पुलिस को सौंप दिया गया.

एलआईसी एजेंट बनकर बुलाया और फिर लूट लिया
एसटीएफ के मुताबिक वर्ष 2014 में आरोपी ने अपने साथी के साथ बांसवाड़ा में एक व्यक्ति को एलआईसी एजेंट बनकर फोन किया था। मिलने के लिए बुलाने के बाद आरोपियों ने बंदूक की नोक पर उसका अपहरण कर लिया और उसकी कार में लूटपाट की और फरार हो गए.
बुर्के में आप अच्छी लगेंगी…क्या ऐसा कहना गुनाह नहीं है? मुरादाबाद धर्म परिवर्तन मामले में हाईकोर्ट का बड़ा फैसला, आरोपियों को राहत
मोरादाबाद समाचार: उत्तर प्रदेश के मुरादाबाद जिले के बिलारी थाना क्षेत्र में एक नाबालिग छात्र का कथित धर्म परिवर्तन और ब्रेनवॉश करने के मामले में बड़ा कानूनी मोड़ आ गया है। इलाहाबाद हाईकोर्ट ने आरोपी छात्रा फातिमा को अग्रिम जमानत दे दी है. कोर्ट के इस फैसले के बाद इस चर्चित मामले में एक नई बहस शुरू हो गई है. कोर्ट ने अपने आदेश में कहा कि फिलहाल उपलब्ध साक्ष्य आरोपियों की संलिप्तता को पूरी तरह साबित नहीं करते हैं. यह भी माना गया कि आरोपी के फरार होने की संभावना कम है और वह जांच में सहयोग करने को तैयार है.
वायरल वीडियो से बढ़ा विवाद
यह मामला तब सुर्खियों में आया जब सोशल मीडिया पर एक वीडियो वायरल हुआ. वीडियो में कुछ छात्राएं आपस में बात करती नजर आ रही हैं और एक नाबालिग छात्र बुर्का पहने नजर आ रहा है. आरोप था कि फातिमा ने उसे बुर्का पहनने के लिए उकसाया और कहा कि वह इसमें अच्छी लगेगी. इस वीडियो के सामने आने के बाद स्थानीय लोगों और कुछ संगठनों ने विरोध प्रदर्शन शुरू कर दिया. पीड़िता के भाई ने पुलिस में शिकायत दर्ज कराई कि उसकी बहन का ब्रेनवॉश किया जा रहा है और उसे धर्म परिवर्तन के लिए मजबूर किया जा रहा है।
पुलिस की कार्रवाई और कानूनी धाराएं
शिकायत मिलने के बाद पुलिस ने तुरंत मामला दर्ज कर लिया. आरोपियों के खिलाफ उत्तर प्रदेश गैरकानूनी धार्मिक रूपांतरण निषेध अधिनियम की धारा 3 और 5 (1) के तहत मामला दर्ज किया गया था। इसके बाद पुलिस ने उसे हिरासत में ले लिया और पूछताछ शुरू कर दी.
कोर्ट ने क्यों दी राहत?
जब मामला हाई कोर्ट पहुंचा तो बचाव पक्ष ने दलील दी कि यह सिर्फ दोस्तों के बीच सामान्य बातचीत थी और छात्रा ने अपनी मर्जी से बुर्का पहना था. दोनों पक्षों की दलीलें सुनने के बाद कोर्ट ने कहा कि सिर्फ बयानों के आधार पर किसी को लंबे समय तक हिरासत में रखना ठीक नहीं है. अदालत ने यह भी कहा कि रिकॉर्ड पर कोई ठोस सबूत नहीं है जो आरोपी की भूमिका को स्पष्ट रूप से साबित कर सके। आरोपी ने जांच और मुकदमे में सहयोग का भी आश्वासन दिया है। इन सभी तथ्यों को ध्यान में रखते हुए कोर्ट ने फातिमा की अग्रिम जमानत मंजूर कर ली. इस फैसले को आरोपी पक्ष के लिए बड़ी राहत माना जा रहा है, वहीं इस मामले को लेकर बहस अभी भी जारी है.
